      Bummer. I should have mentioned that all Desert Kings are actually seedlings in my research so far. I know a grower who visited and the plant material is under close protection like Gray Martin's plants. Many people have seedling(s) that are not cold tolerant. This one dominates the cold better than any of my other plants in the farm. I gave a friend a giant graft I had of it and it was doing fine in full sun.

      Is Desert King is self pollination variety or we need to do cross/hand pollination?

    Hey, just figured I would look you up in relation to the comments section on the video celebrating Tina Weymouth. That guy was dropping comments there and wrote something similar to a comment I had made. I figured I would lend you some support.
    As to your channel; I know nothing about this fruit. It looks delicious and certainly beautiful. I have many strengths and interests but growing things is not among them. I marvel at people with green thumbs and certainly appreciate your endeavors. Thank you for sharing this experience. Best wishes to you.

    Looks yummy. What did you pollinate with. None of my DK took last year. I’m hoping to get fruit this season. It’s budding now. Thanks

      I can't remember, but I cross pollenate whenever possible. I hope you get fruit this season

    I can wait to try D.King. Does it taste similar to Frankies Red?

    • @RAREDRAGONFRUIT
      @RAREDRAGONFRUIT  ปีที่แล้ว

      I heard it's different. I have not had Frankie's Red yet. I hear it's stellar.

    Looks yummy. It takes 6 months to ripen? Like the palora?

      Yes, it’s a hybrid of a Yellow and a red.

    Hi, I wanted to have Desert King in my collection. Can I get 2 to 4 cuttings of DK. If yes how much I need to pay for each cutting. My daughter stays in Dallas TX. Is DK suitable to Texas climate.

      Still have some fruit on the plant, later this season after I harvest the fruit. Be careful, Desert King is actually many different seedlings and Diego's is colder tolerant, many others not cold hardy like this one.

    Can they do a DNA test on sugar dragon and neon please!!? It's driving me crazy..they look and seem in every way to be the same!

    • @RAREDRAGONFRUIT
      @RAREDRAGONFRUIT  ปีที่แล้ว

      Setaceus dna is dominant and I think there are a few variants out there, but they taste similar. I prefer Neon and so did Leo Manuel. Thanks to Leo's notes, I tracked down the nursery that named it and talked to them about it. It was originally sourced by a California Rare Fruit Grower down at the San Diego/ Mexico border.

    Nice review! Do you sell the "Diego's desert king seedling"? Even just a small piece for grafting.
    And if yes, how can I contact you?

    Wow! Where can I get a cutting?

    • @RAREDRAGONFRUIT
      @RAREDRAGONFRUIT  ปีที่แล้ว

      A few people in California have it, I'll have some later this season after the last fruit riped and are picked.
