    In my experience, if you trim the cuttings that don't readily root, exposing the wooden stem, they will root within 2 weeks. It also helps to cover the container to trap more of the heat, especially if you are trying to root cuttings during the winter.

      Cover it so no fresh air can enter? Or do you uncover regularly for them to get some CO2?

    If you don't have a heating mat ,you could just put it on your fridge ,it generates enough heat to do the job,I did it an those roots came out with in 2weeks

    Eric, do you prefer to start rooting in water or would you rather go ahead and root in your put with dirt? From growing fig cuttings, I have a heat mat, rooting hormone, micoryzil fungus and worn castings. How would you suggest proceeding? I've watched all of you dragon videos. Thank you Eric. 👍

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's a great question. I think that soil rooting with mycoryzil fungus, worm castings, and rooting hormone, tends to produce stronger roots from the get-go, so that would be go to..

    Is it possible to root a large stem which has been cut into 3 parts? All the parts (top and bottom) have callused over. I've had them in the soil for 5 months now and there's no sign of roots. The temperature here has been around 15 to 25 degrees C.

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LOL. Yeah. There are LOTS. I personally have 103 different varieties. Paul from Rare Dragon Fruit has over 300 varieties... It's crazy! The reason there's so many varieties comes down to how easy this plant can be cross pollinated. If you plant the seeds from a cross pollinated dragon fruit you'll get a hybrid variety.. It's pretty fascinating. Each variety has it's own size, flavor, color, taste, sweetness, texture.

  • @Natepwnsu
    @Natepwnsu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Why don't you just use rooting compound or cloning powder for soil. I figure it would take 7-10 days to root , it only takes 3-7 days to get root via a water cloning system, you could root them inside and plant them in the soil when they are ready. I don't do soil at all but there is no issue with rooting a plant with a hydro cloning system and planting it in soil afterwards.

    The wound in my cuttings turned red... Is it norm or is it rotting?

    • @2guysandacooler
      @2guysandacooler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      If the wound is turning red or a rust like color it means that there is an infection. All you have to do is wash your clippers real good then spray them down with alcohol. Let the clippers dry a bit (3-5 minutes) then clip off the infected part.
