Kingdoms hearts 2: finally a worthy opponent
Truth
I had a nightmare, and now I'm listening to this. I'm 22 years old.
THAT is the way to do it bro. I will come to this music when I am old and gray. Music is music, who cares, right? >:)
mrm64 Exactly!
No shame in that man. I'm 22 too and loving these nostalgic songs haha!

I'm 29 and this is pure gold
The key change at 29:50 is probably my favorite part, it’s so unexpected but also really smooth and beautiful
16:09 is literally so cool, I haven't heard anything like it in a vg soundtrack. Like those notes in the melody are so off the grid, but they work perfectly. It evokes such a surreal, heroic, chaotic-yet-determined feeling
Yeah, that one is also my favorite... it's so chaotic, yet so calming. Love it!
I agree! The tempo, and the heroic attribute you mention remind me of early Mega Man X style music, but more light-hearted.
the melody isn't really off the grid, it's just lydian
it's a good use of it though
Ok.
@@tarantularose ya these modal riffs are definitely cool and less common in stuff like this so i get why he said it sounds off the grid (which is the sound that modes generally grant to a composer) dont b pretentious
My heart is going to explode from this nostalgia.
a good way of putting it
Make sure Kirby is there to pick up all the pieces.
this music
How about now
I love the Urlun Star soundtrack. 23:06
Just played this for the first time on switch online this week. Music is so amazing especially 30:37. Wish I had memories of this game growing up like you all did.
My best friend used to bring his pokemon bagpack filled with all his n64 games and pokemon cards on saturdays to spend the day playing with me and my brother. Then wed trade games to borrow till next time. Golden eye 007 turok rage wars
16:09 Horobita Star So heavy!
23:06
has all the Kirby essence.
I never had an N64 (my first videogame console was a GameCube). I downloaded this game on my Wii and man I was not disappointed. Not only did I enjoy this game but I think I lived the experience as though I was in the early 2000s, creating a feeling of nostalgia that could not normally exist. This game gives off so much vibes of that period. I love the N64's inexplicable atmosphere.
4:47 My childhood right here.
I still have this game 🎯
@@MisterTinyBear me too, its on my nintendo switch
You can hear the classical and jazz influences coming through all over the place here, but with saccharine 90s rompler flutes and sparkly synths and PCM samples. And it works. This soundtrack doesn't get its due credit, it's one of the greatest of all time as far as I'm concerned. You can really tell the composers had a lot of fun making it.
The key changes and stuff are fairly complex--play some of these tracks on a grand piano and they really come to life as legitimate works of art
it's a charm of nintendo
That loud ass boom at 11:38 that transitions out of the happy frolicking battle music gives me a fn heart attack
I remember renting this from Blockbuster and and I remember about half the tunes on this game
This comment struck me deep
yea I know right@@VzVegeta
Same here. I got this from blockbuster too.
It was a magical time.
stop dude you making me cry at the club :( this and both bomberman for 64 were my shit back then, so much dope music and memories
For my future use: 13:30, 27:14, 28:59, 32:34, 39:14, 50:47
+Drillur all industrial. This game had some amazing producers.
The third one really was just so adorable and nice for a snowy level.
Great selection dude
added a like just to get you to 69. now your choices are officially *nice*
@@eggsbox 34 people ruined it
16:09 is my favorite
Mine too!
Mine three
Actually I came to this video looking for this one xD
Mine four
This is one of the most underrated N64 games; why can't we ever see Ripple Star and Ribbon again? I want them to return!
+George Oldale I know right! They need to return! Also because Kirby and Ribbon were just too adorable together >.
Check out Star Allies!
Fun fact: In the overworld of the 4th Star Allies area Far Flung Starlight Heroes, you can uncommonly see Ripple Star out in the galaxy! It can be hard to spot but I did it :)
@@GoroAkechi_Real This is amazing news and it just made me very happy. Thank you for this knowledge
18:06 ;-; i can't explain how i feel when hear this music again.
aways was the best of entire game
I know what you mean, I can remember the exact room at my friend's house I played this level in the first times. Its weird how games do that for you, probably because we've played them since we were kids.
this song is easily one of the best out of this entire soundtrack
no doubt about it
This should be a mood on Spotify’s charts. Today this was on my mind and as soon as I started playing it, my heart exploded with nostalgia. I used to play this when I had no worries in the world but being a kid. 🥺😭🥰
Yeah, I know everything about it... :(
@@19892903 kinda hurts, a lot. still have my unsealead copy, slightly damaged now cause mothers ya know but makes me tear up just by looking at it.
27:14, my absolute favorite and most memorable song from this soundtrack, brings back memories and the way it pulls you in and keeps your attention listening for more hits the ear just right. Beautiful soundtrack
@@MynameisJohnlol How am I just now seeing this comment lmao! Glad there are more of us out there.
yea, its very cool
35:13 That bass groove
Almost thought I was playing Mother 3 for a second, that Bass is sick.
the whole song! such intense vibes, this game was in another level
The solo at 35:57 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I was reading about this game recently - how it got negative reviews for being too easy and short. But I revisited it and my goodness - this soundtrack alone makes it at least a 7/10 - add in the quirky and vibrant environments, fun gameplay, minigames, the boss rush challenge... I think it's at least a 9/10 game. Not sure why it's not so well received. But I certainly remember playing this at age 8 or 9 in the early 2000s and just the music created this perfect atmosphere, it's all so memorable. Fantastic game and music.
I remember loving this game when I was a kid in elementary school. Many years later, I ordered the game on Ebay and played it again. It was fun, but way too slow. The music feels like it is intentionally fast paced to give an illusion that the gameplay isn't as slow as it actually is.
@@DarkSim64 it’s a nice chill game to relax to and it’s perfect when you arent trying to think too hard and focus on fine motor controls in skaty platformers like Mario bros and such. The music and charming 64 graphics makes it a nice package :)
32:35 is my all time favorite OST from this game.
***** I still have yet to get past that goddamn level! >.
+Derpy Quaqsire Personally, I could jam all day to 20:33.
+Rabano Doom Same, always loved it!!
put some death grips lyrics to this shit
My favorite track is rock star.
18:06 sent nostalgic chills down my spine
Such a good song
17:12 Bruh, this shit is so good.
4:49 has always been my favorite. It’s a very definite nod to 64’s predecessor Kirby Superstar, which is perhaps one of the greatest video games of all time.
Quiet Forest will always remind me of my 10 year old self going thru the pages of the first Harry Potter book back in 2000, its like a nostalgia ultra combo.
I want to cry. Its the music of my childhood :')
Es-tu Québécois?
My favorites:
1:18-Training
4:48-Planet PopStar
13:30-Boss
16:10-Horobita Star
20:34-Inside the Ruins
22:15-I’m Hungryyy
28:59-Buruburu Star
30:37-Above the Clouds
39:14-Kenken Race
Oh, and also the club mixes
I love all of those too!
55:26
Kirby just got _shot_!
*and they laughed at him*
I never realized growing up, how fantastic the music in this game was. Until now the main song that caught my attention was Korekara Star. Such a beautifully crafted soundtrack. One example of just brilliant composition that I absolutely love, is in Quiet Forest. That transition where the tempo drops then picks back up into the best part of the song. The relentless intensity of Horobita Star, radiating with energy like much of the music in this game.
N64 has some of the best soundtracks of all time. Both LoZs, Kirby, SSB, Diddy Kong, the Mario games, Bomberman 64 (my fav soundtrack), the list goes on and on.
I think the file select is also missing, unless I missed that...
Diddy kong racing, mario and kirby, definitely beautiful and nostalgic soundtracks
Star Fox 64
Horobita Star is the JAM
agreed, I have my own lyrics for it LOL
This part of the song just is amazing! 8:05
32:35 The best!
Ye my fav song by far, its like being trapped in a weird factory without any life... also i work in a steel factory, and sometimes humm that song while working xP :S
I love how Buruburu Star and Factory Investigation can coexist in the same soundtrack, one being full of joy and the other dark and grimm.
One of the few video-game sound-tracks that I like basically every song on it, amazing.
All of these songs come up in my mind every once and a while and I find myself humming them. I love this game so much.
literally one of the best kirby soundtracks ever. nobody can change my mind.
Siento una nostalgia muy grande, este fue uno de los primeros juegos de Kirby que jugue en mi vida, tan solo escuchar el Opening Llore
0:45 WHY AM I CRYING I FEEL LIKE I LOST SOMETHING SO AMAIZING AND PURE FULL OF ADVENTURES
Awesome soundtrack to one of the best games ever released ! :D
Kirby games after Crystal Shards never grabbed my heart in the same way or came close to it. I think it was the music! :(
+saramations i recommend listening to kirby triple deluxe moonstruck blossom, it's really good, you might like it
CuriousBellsprout i already do really like it. that was one of the few tracks that i enjoyed in triple deluxe
Last good ones to me was Kirby Super Star Ultra and squeak squad (fun but really short and easy) The one on Wii, return to dream land, was fun to play with my family but I'd never play it if it wasnt co-op.
I like most Kirby OSTs that are 64 and newer (Astral Birth Void theme my beloved), but if I can give a pointer to RtDL’s Snowball Scuffle, I feel like it emulated some of the vibes you’d get from 64 :)
For some reason I have a strange fondness for 16:09 - played that level so many times, it's hella fun :)
i love how all the tracks sound blown out and super filled with instruments in this ost like all the instruments were being played as loud as possible its amazing
45:52 my favorite BGM from Kirby
I once was watching a historical documentary on youtube about WWII, and a second tab of TH-cam was open and was on some stupid autoplay.
So in short I got the rare chance to listen to this music with Hitler giving a speech, and it fit oddly well.
I've been sick with stomach flu ever since. Unrelated.
some say that to this day he's shitting his brains out while Mussolini tries to conquer north africa to the tune of horobita star
I wish I could go back in time and show Hitler a video of this guy listening to a Kirby song with him xD.
Lol which song? Might make a good ytpmd
Kirby was a secret wwii weapon project developed by the axis powers but it is suppressed by the UN
Holy crap this soundtrack is actually REALLY good, like I grew up with this game but listening to these songs now with headphones helps me appreciate how good they are
13:30 Fitting for both Kirby and anime boss battle
horobita star is such an insane composition
32:35 holy bajeezus that is an amazing song. How have I never heard this before?
My favorite song in Kirby: The Crystal Shards, thanks for finding it for me!
Imo, It's one of the most awkward Kirby soundtrack I've ever heard; and It's exactly why, when you play that stage, you feel the damness of It. The masterminds behind these achievements really nailed It: They overdid It.
I really wanna make a remix of this song as well - it's one of the best on there hands down
Oo
Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for uploading this!!
This was my first video game ever and I still love it a lot
Ah yes... The nostalgic deafening sound of twinkling stars ringing in my ears. Greatest of memories... =w=
Damn man, we really can listen to our memories anytime we want. I really take youtube for granted sometimes.
16:10 BY FAR! My Ultra favorite, TFB
one of the best dope music for smoking weed
Wtf...
"High as Hell" was my favorite Copy Ability fusion.
Flashback; wow.
The first game I ever bought with my own money!! And still my favorite. Perfect kirb soundtrack
18:06 aesthetics
HELL YEAH I ALL WAYS HAD COOL THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS SONG
Even when an ice level isn't actually an ice level, it still manages to be the best.
When 20:34 comes on I can't help but break out the robot dance.
U right
why is the music so damn good
Even from those chimes at the beginning, this entire soundtrack reeks with nostalgia.
NOSTALGIA OVERLOOOOOOOAAAAD
Was just listening to this and before i knew it i was playing it.
Definitely one of my favorite games on the N64. I love combining the ice and lightning and you get the fridge that spews out food that regenerates health. Fantastic!
I literally shed a tear listening to ruins 18:06
I loved this game when i was a kid it was my first and last kirby game haha
Dang I got chills hearing this. This was the 1st Kirby game I ever played and what got me hooked to Kirby ^_^ So this game will always be special to me. Kirbyfan for life!
Beautiful
I watch my friend play this at her house and I've always loved the music.
yay ty for posting this!
23:06 Is my favorite track in the entire game. 😻
Thank you for the vid!! :)
zero-two theme is beautifull *-*
I met one of my best - if not THE best - friends under the light of this god-like music.
I wasn't fond of maths as a kid and so I needed a math tutor. Turned out the tutor was my friend's mom. And...she brought him over sometimes.
Yep. The lil' brat would play on MY NINTENDO 64. He would oftentimes play 'Kirby: The Crystal Shards'
Still, soon after, we started hanging out and now he is still in my life.
Its funny how music might turn out to be the beginning of a wonderful and everlasting relationship...a whooooole story.
Might be the greatest soundtrack of all time
4:47
You're welcome.
This game seriously has the best soundtrack, or at least one of the games
Ikr
still have this game :D
still my favorite game
where does the time go..... this ost makes me both happy and sad knowing childhood bliss is long gone..
Still listening to this
Just perfect
Me trae demasiados recuerdos ):
17:13 this part was always my favorite
Downright one of the best game soundtracks of all time. It's melodically brilliant!
So many dam memories with this game. I'm 18 graduating high school. The Nintendo 64 was my very first console I was about 2 or 3 when I started realizing things so about 2000 2001ish ? Mario 64 was the first game smash was the 2nd Kirby was the 3rd bomber man 64 was the 4th and donkey kong was the 5th from there on out I started loving video games at a young age. I'm old now 😔😔
I think this was the first game I ever 100%ed in my whole life... boy the music brings back some memories T_T
I'm loving it!
This game and its soundtrack are just so cute o3o
Cosmic Velociraptor nice name
The sound design in this game in incredible.
Muh childhood right here! :'D
Is it weird that i can hum the theme to every single song? xD
I'm with you there :D except for the battle with Zero
Same here xD.
ahhhh, memories....
so damn beautiful
Where's Miracle Matter?
Where's room guarder or mid-boss room?
Not fully there, but it's partially in the remixes.
So happy when I heard in the Field
What a wonderful game.
Nice memories, but nowadays Im steel playing to this xD
