Two Oceans Marine 870 Power Catamaran Build Progress III - mould completion and hull layup begins

This video is the third in our series looking at the build of a complete custom 87 foot luxury power catamaran.
The Two Oceans 870 Power Catamaran is designed by Du Toit Yacht Design and custom built by Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing.
You will see in the video that the mould is constructed using thousands of CNC-cut shutter ply frames and meranti stringers. We then clad this wooden framework with weather proof ply and apply a filler, which is faired until completely smooth. The hull and bridgedeck are then laid up inside this mould.
The same process applies to the manufacture of the deck mould and deck.
You will notice that the hull and bridgedeck is is laminated in one piece without the need for additional joining laminates and tabbing, which helps to save weight . The structural PVC foam core material is thermo formed and vacuum bagged to assist with further weight savings and to provide structural integrity to this 87 foot custom power catamaran. Furthermore, all bulkheads are properly tabbed in and we use carbon fiber in high-load areas for extra stiffness and strength.
All the structural detailing and design is done by the yacht designer Toit Yacht Design, using state-of-the art software which includes Catia.
