I think most people will think that those of us reacting badly to that statement are simply-minded plebs icked out by all things female. Nay ... saying the "force is female" simplifies the force and makes it something small and meaningless, something we can fit into our politically correct back pocket. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan girl, but I'm enough of one to be thoroughly pissed off by that statement. Never mind that it obviously had more momentum being the first new film in a decade with the ordinal cast members returning, those facts can't have anything to do with its higher box office if it doesn't support the orthodoxy of "muh SJWs." I have my own gripes with the movies too, but I damn well know how to do my own research and spot inconsistencies in a narrative presented. Star Wars has issues, but the going down in flames narrative is not shown by the numbers to date. Opinions are great, shout them all day long, but don't cloak them as facts. Simply put, I'm not inclined toward spending my time and money on a franchise that insults me and the rest of the fanbase that didn't fall over themselves praising the "new" Star Wars of the Sequel Trilogy. If Kennedy, Johmson, Hidalgo, and Abrams represent the future, then I am willing to let my future Star Wars fandom die as all those people represent the most recent past of Star Wars.

Even if Disney ignored all of the other criticism, the baseline fact that they should care about is that Kathleen Kennedy took a beloved, wholesome franchise that was celebrated for its contributions to culture and managed to make it controversial and divisive. Cary Fisher is dead, Harrison Ford hates the series and will probably never want to be in a Star Wars movie again. And Mark Hammil has had his entire character ruined by TLJ to the point that Mark (One of the biggest Star Wars fan's out of the original trio and overall) no longer cares about the series. It makes me sick just thinking about it.

At first I was curious what are they going to do with the sequels, because the original trilogy was a closed story, universe saved, bad guys defeated and peaceful times can be boring to watch, no wonder George Lucas rather made prequels, it was an easier job. They could have just focus on something smaller scope, 1 person or a group's struggle, it's a huge universe with lots of opportunities and if it needs saving every year as a whole, that sucks
I didn't like TLJ. My wife didn't like TLJ. My 12 year old boy/girl twins didn't like TLJ (my daughter especially didn't like Haldo). During the movie my wife leaned over to me and asked "Why are there all these chicks?". I liked "The Force Awakens" until TLJ came out, and nothing they set up was paid off in a way that was compelling, or even made sense. I hope in the next movie, Kylo (the only interesting new character) destroys the universe with C-3PO's unexplained red arm. The red arm is the key to all this.

If something is set up in the movies than it has to be explained IN THE MOVIES, or it should not be included. It's too much for a storyteller to expect a viewer to see every form of media that's out there. It's no longer story telling at that point, it's cheap fan service. This has bee the biggest sin of Disney Lucasfilms. They never set out to tell a compelling, cohesive story; they set out to manufacture a product that, in their mind, would extract as much money from people as possible. Kennedy has risen to her level of incompetence, and it's becoming clear to everyone. She stood on the shoulders of giants at Lucas Arts, and it was just like that person in a college collaboration assignment that really should pick a different major, but gets a good grade because of the talent of the rest of the team carries them. Except now, that person is in charge of a multi-billion dollar franchise. Throw in JJ Abrams, who is a mediocre talent at best, but has somehow been elevated in the industry to a Stephen Spielberg level, and you have a recipe for disaster. The fact Abrams is so highly regarded in Hollywood is a commentary on the sad state of cinema today. Take any film he has worked on, and compare it to the films of the 70's and 80's, and his best work would have hardly made ripples in those eras. With very few exceptions, his body of work is mildly entertaining at best, and low IQ at worst. These people treat Star Wars like a hobby, making critical decisions on a whim to appeal to their own cultural tastes. Hate on Lucas all you want, and God knows I've given him plenty of crap about the prequels. But he put the story first. And that's what separates him from everyone else that has touched this franchise since. Star Wars is not a recipe you add and remove from to taste and see what sticks. It already is the Big Mac, KFC Original Recipe, Coke; and people expect it to taste the same every time they buy it. That recipe is what made it a juggernaut in the industry to begin with. Screw with it at your own peril, and risk almost certainly finding Star Wars in the same dustbin as Pepsi Crystal, or new Coke. And no, people don't want a Big Mac made with soy burgers.

Boycott both Solo and episode 9. I grew up loving Star Wars. I've watched all the movies thus far, read many of the books, played nearly ALL of the video games and I love the tv series' "Clone Wars" and "Rebels", I even cautiously defended "The Force Awakens" holding out hope that the characters would develop into something more. I hoped that Rey would have some interesting and cool reveal of family or relationship ties that would explain her natural force affinity, I had high hopes about a reveal for Snoke's past and who/what exactly he is, and I hoped that Kylo Ren would develop into something better than a whiny little emo. But after all the vile hatred of the fanbase and vicious attacks directed at the fanbase from Kathleen Kennedy and her stooges and the horrid movie that was "The Last Jedi" that seemed to have as its very mission, to destroy all the established lore and plot lines of everything Star Wars (both the original stories and The Force Awakens) I can not choke back the bile rising in my throat to watch another Disney/Kathleen Kennedy Star Wars. From everything I've seen of the promotions of "Solo" (which when it was first announced I was extremely excited for btw) Kathleen Kennedy and her army of SJW shills have made the sole focus of the film to be pushing gender and identity politics. I had a guy at my local college saying that he could debate why the Sequels were actually good. But when my friend asked for him to debate with me, he suddenly "didn't have time for it." I also had another person at my college trying to debate the same thing, but his only argument was "They're better than the Prequels." Like that suddenly makes the Sequels any better. Sequel defenders have no good defense for these movies...because there is nothing worth defending. All they can do is point fingers, name call, and say pointless words like 'subversion, diversity, empowering', and other worthless crap.

The last Jedi just felt completely different , I almost walked out about 2 thirds through the movie , only stayed to see what happened to Luke sky walker , couldn’t have cared less about the rest of the movie .

What is really sad is I want to like Ms. Kennedy. When it was announced that she would be heading Lucasfilm, I was excited. I saw her as the rightful heir. A true "Hollywood Story"; from production assistant to studio mogul. Having been a protege of both Spielburg and Lucas, I really thought she was the only logical choice. Can't imagine how disappointed I am.

The article author suggests that fans not boycott Solo, but wait for episode 9. Solo may not be as bad as we know episode 9 will certainly be. But, regardless, Disney needs to get the message that fans are enraged. Delaying the delivery of that message makes no sense while Kennedy continues to spout her SJW message that there are too many men working in the film industry. Rogue one isnt as good as the real canon in the han solo trilogy where the death star plans are stolen. Its also very stupid that the droids were already at rebel base when the plans were stolen. There are a number of other options you could choose that would have a similar affect to boycotting Solo as you should: - Buy a ticket for a different movie if you have to go see Solo at the cinema, at least the profit goes to another movie that way. - Wait for it to come out on home media or a streaming service, even better borrow a copy from someone else. - Loan it out from a video rental place or library (probably for free). If you really have to watch it at the cinema and don't want to do a dodgy on the ticket purchase, just at least don't go see it on opening weekend ;)
I'm a fat white basement dwelling nerd. But, what Disney forgot is... I would fill that basement with their merchandise. Hundreds of dollars for each movie. Now, $0 for the films. Exceptions would be figuarts releases for Luke, Vader, etc.
Are you not familiar with Hoth? You know, that place where the action actually had a purpose because we cared about the plot/characters. Or by "cinematic" do you mean shaky cam and loud noises?
While the other two guys are right, Rogue One did feature a more gritty take on war. The little girl screaming in the tank battle felt much more real than a teddy bear shaking another dead teddy bear lol. And Hoth and Geonosis (spelling?) were a little less focued on the war. They mostly still featured the main characters in subplots. Han and Leia on Hoth, Luke in the speeder, etc. Rogue One had Jyn, Cassian, and K2, but it all felt closer together as they were all talking to each other. So whereas it's false that it's the first time it's been done, it's the first time it's been done in that particular way (imo). Granted most of what I said is getting into opinion and semantics. But I do feel like they were a bit different.
The only character that was memorable or likeable was the droid, the plot was ultimately pointless, they spat on Peter Cushing's grave with that uncanny valley cgi Tarkin, and there was so much OT fan service that the whole film can only be described as pandering. Rogue One is like an average girl who purposefully hangs out with ugly chicks to look better by comparison.
Star Wars is only episodes 4 to 6, and even then only in the original form. Lucas fucked everything up with episodes 1-3 AND now Disney is finishing his abominable work.

Way to stand up for good cinema, storytelling and perhaps art in general (bully politics retard art in all forms, maybe the wave here can eventually reach all oceans). For months on social media I bemoaned the politicization of great movie franchises. Despite taking zero stance on the issues themselves, but rather the negative impact of their injection into the respective universes, I was attacked on all sides. I'm used to dealing with the disciples of identity politics, and so defended myself with cool and reason. I braved the storm and they folded as they do when taken to task, as they rarely are. It is very refreshing and encouraging to come across a channel that goes beyond that technical title and is become a community; one based on objectivity, respect and intellectual honesty and also curiosity. Let's keep fighting the good fight in the fair, civilized and educated manner of the creator of these excellent videos. Awesome.

I'm not going to watch Solo. I am so burnt out of Star Wars. It use to be something beautiful. Now its dead and Disney is parading the corpse through the streets. Feminism done right is not a bad thing. If it's rubbed in your face, than it's bad. It's fine to have strong women characters and not be in people's face. Ripley and Vasquez are prime examples of this. Hell we get this all the time with male characters and it's not rubbed in our faces, I'm not sure why it's so hard for female character to be written without clichés and daddy issues. I'm fine with a Muslim hero. I don't care about the religion of a super hero as long as its not rubbed in my face, unless of course, the religion is a factor in the duties of that hero and the movie is about those issues. Think a Birdman or a Super type movie for something like that. Captain America is a Christian but it's only ever mentioned or brought up once. I've never read a Captain Marvel or the Muslim hero's comic books so I have no idea about how those comics usually go, however Marvels been doing a damn good job making quality films. Their a bit formulaic at times, but fun none the less. They also have to make the next movie that lives up to the Infinity Wars movie. I don't think their going to let us down just yet.

Follow Mr. Lucas's original story treatments and re-shoot Episode VII, VIII (and IX) with Luke Skywalker in the lead role (and would again apologize for not being able to bring back Han Solo and Princess Leia as they should've.) 5. Re-release the first six Star Wars movies in theaters with the best possible picture and sound quality. 6. Apologize to fans for Everything. 7. With the guidance of Mr. Lucas plan a new trilogy, or trilogies after the end of the Skywalker-family saga. 8. Apologize to fans and respect them. Always.

I found the force awakens ok but the last Jedi ruined it and literally added useless characters unmemorable scenes and making ray a fully developed character without any development shown and ruining Luke's role. Horrible choreography and doing nothing with characters that had potential like phasma. I liked the newer characters Poe and fin but how horrible the last jedi was written undermined them

Solo might or might not be good, either way I'm not going to go see it. I have my own gripes with the movies too, but I damn well know how to do my own research and spot inconsistencies in a narrative presented. Star Wars has issues, but the going down in flames narrative is not shown by the numbers to date. Opinions are great, shout them all day long, but don't cloak them as facts. It just makes you less credible as a source of information.
Yeah, the wishful thinking is strong with us. Still, I don't mind grasping at straws while we wait to see where things go. Maybe one day when it's all long in the past we'll be able to say, "Hey, there were warning signs they ignored!" But until then, as always, we should indeed still take it all with a grain of salt.

Cary Fisher is dead, Harrison Ford hates the series and will probably never want to be in a Star Wars movie again. And Mark Hammil has had his entire character ruined by TLJ to the point that Mark (One of the biggest Star Wars fan's out of the original trio and overall) no longer cares about the series.

At first I was curious what are they going to do with the sequels, because the original trilogy was a closed story, universe saved, bad guys defeated and peaceful times can be boring to watch, no wonder George Lucas rather made prequels, it was an easier job. They could have just focus on something smaller scope, 1 person or a group's struggle, it's a huge universe with lots of opportunities and if it needs saving every year as a whole, that sucks
I didn't like TLJ. My wife didn't like TLJ. My 12 year old boy/girl twins didn't like TLJ (my daughter especially didn't like Haldo). During the movie my wife leaned over to me and asked "Why are there all these chicks?". I liked "The Force Awakens" until TLJ came out, and nothing they set up was paid off in a way that was compelling, or even made sense. I hope in the next movie, Kylo (the only interesting new character) destroys the universe with C-3PO's unexplained red arm. The red arm is the key to all this.

If something is set up in the movies than it has to be explained IN THE MOVIES, or it should not be included. It's too much for a storyteller to expect a viewer to see every form of media that's out there. It's no longer story telling at that point, it's cheap fan service. This has bee the biggest sin of Disney Lucasfilms. They never set out to tell a compelling, cohesive story; they set out to manufacture a product that, in their mind, would extract as much money from people as possible. The big misstep was miscalculating the popularity (or rather, the lack of popularity) of identity politics.

Kennedy has risen to her level of incompetence, and it's becoming clear to everyone. She stood on the shoulders of giants at Lucas Arts, and it was just like that person in a college collaboration assignment that really should pick a different major, but gets a good grade because of the talent of the rest of the team carries them. Except now, that person is in charge of a multi-billion dollar franchise. Throw in JJ Abrams, who is a mediocre talent at best, but has somehow been elevated in the industry to a Stephen Spielberg level, and you have a recipe for disaster. The fact Abrams is so highly regarded in Hollywood is a commentary on the sad state of cinema today. Take any film he has worked on, and compare it to the films of the 70's and 80's, and his best work would have hardly made ripples in those eras. With very few exceptions, his body of work is mildly entertaining at best, and low IQ at worst.
These people treat Star Wars like a hobby, making critical decisions on a whim to appeal to their own cultural tastes. Hate on Lucas all you want, and God knows I've given him plenty of crap about the prequels. But he put the story first. And that's what separates him from everyone else that has touched this franchise since. Star Wars is not a recipe you add and remove from to taste and see what sticks. It already is the Big Mac, KFC Original Recipe, Coke; and people expect it to taste the same every time they buy it. That recipe is what made it a juggernaut in the industry to begin with. Screw with it at your own peril, and risk almost certainly finding Star Wars in the same dustbin as Pepsi Crystal, or new Coke. And no, people don't want a Big Mac made with soy burgers.

Boycott both Solo and episode 9. I grew up loving Star Wars. I've watched all the movies thus far, read many of the books, played nearly ALL of the video games and I love the tv series' "Clone Wars" and "Rebels", I even cautiously defended "The Force Awakens" holding out hope that the characters would develop into something more. I hoped that Rey would have some interesting and cool reveal of family or relationship ties that would explain her natural force affinity, I had high hopes about a reveal for Snoke's past and who/what exactly he is, and I hoped that Kylo Ren would develop into something better than a whiny little emo.
But after all the vile hatred of the fanbase and vicious attacks directed at the fanbase from Kathleen Kennedy and her stooges and the horrid movie that was "The Last Jedi" that seemed to have as its very mission, to destroy all the established lore and plot lines of everything Star Wars (both the original stories and The Force Awakens) I can not choke back the bile rising in my throat to watch another Disney/Kathleen Kennedy Star Wars.
From everything I've seen of the promotions of "Solo" (which when it was first announced I was extremely excited for btw) Kathleen Kennedy and her army of SJW shills have made the sole focus of the film to be pushing gender and identity politics. From having a "Gender Reveal Day" for a droid that turned out to be some sort of transgender droid that is fanatical about forwarding "droid rights" (god I wish I was kidding *facepalm*) and rewriting the already well-established character of Lando from the over the top charming gentleman/ladiesman into a pansexual (someone who enjoys sex with literally anything; man, woman, animal, vegetable, mineral, inanimate objects, whatever) for the sole purposes of destroying established characters/plotlines and pushing their political ideology then I say screw both "Solo" and episode 9. Do not reward this behaviour by saying, "well it's too late to save Solo. I had a guy at my local college saying that he could debate why the Sequels were actually good. But when my friend asked for him to debate with me, he suddenly "didn't have time for it." I also had another person at my college trying to debate the same thing, but his only argument was "They're better than the Prequels." Like that suddenly makes the Sequels any better. Sequel defenders have no good defense for these movies...because there is nothing worth defending. There are a number of other options you could choose that would have a similar affect to boycotting Solo as you should:
- Buy a ticket for a different movie if you have to go see Solo at the cinema, at least the profit goes to another movie that way.
- Wait for it to come out on home media or a streaming service, even better borrow a copy from someone else.
- Loan it out from a video rental place or library (probably for free).
If you really have to watch it at the cinema and don't want to do a dodgy on the ticket purchase, just at least don't go see it on opening weekend ;)

Are you not familiar with Hoth? You know, that place where the action actually had a purpose because we cared about the plot/characters. Or by "cinematic" do you mean shaky cam and loud noises?
Pyx Rogue One was excellent. TFA and TLJ were not.
While the other two guys are right, Rogue One did feature a more gritty take on war. The little girl screaming in the tank battle felt much more real than a teddy bear shaking another dead teddy bear lol. And Hoth and Geonosis (spelling?) were a little less focued on the war. They mostly still featured the main characters in subplots. Han and Leia on Hoth, Luke in the speeder, etc. Rogue One had Jyn, Cassian, and K2, but it all felt closer together as they were all talking to each other. So whereas it's false that it's the first time it's been done, it's the first time it's been done in that particular way (imo). Granted most of what I said is getting into opinion and semantics. But I do feel like they were a bit different.
The only character that was memorable or likeable was the droid, the plot was ultimately pointless, they spat on Peter Cushing's grave with that uncanny valley cgi Tarkin, and there was so much OT fan service that the whole film can only be described as pandering. Rogue One is like an average girl who purposefully hangs out with ugly chicks to look better by comparison.
Star Wars is only episodes 4 to 6,
and even then only in the original form. Lucas fucked everything up with episodes 1-3 AND now Disney is finishing his abominable work.

Hello, friends! I am very glad to have found this Channel. I stumbled on it two days ago and have since eaten up hours of content. Great stuff. Great message. Way to stand up for good cinema, storytelling and perhaps art in general (bully politics retard art in all forms, maybe the wave here can eventually reach all oceans). For months on social media I bemoaned the politicization of great movie franchises. Despite taking zero stance on the issues themselves, but rather the negative impact of their injection into the respective universes, I was attacked on all sides. I'm used to dealing with the disciples of identity politics, and so defended myself with cool and reason. I braved the storm and they folded as they do when taken to task, as they rarely are. It is very refreshing and encouraging to come across a channel that goes beyond that technical title and is become a community; one based on objectivity, respect and intellectual honesty and also curiosity. Let's keep fighting the good fight in the fair, civilized and educated manner of the creator of these excellent videos. Awesome.

I'm not going to watch Solo. I am so burnt out of Star Wars. It use to be something beautiful. Now its dead and Disney is parading the corpse through the streets. I'm going to see Deadpool 2, than ponder in wonder about the Captain Marvel movie because Marvel, and the Infinity War story line has now become more magical than Star Wars is today.

Feminism done right is not a bad thing. If it's rubbed in your face, than it's bad. It's fine to have strong women characters and not be in people's face. Ripley and Vasquez are prime examples of this. Hell we get this all the time with male characters and it's not rubbed in our faces, I'm not sure why it's so hard for female character to be written without clichés and daddy issues. I'm fine with a Muslim hero. I don't care about the religion of a super hero as long as its not rubbed in my face, unless of course, the religion is a factor in the duties of that hero and the movie is about those issues. Think a Birdman or a Super type movie for something like that. Captain America is a Christian but it's only ever mentioned or brought up once. I've never read a Captain Marvel or the Muslim hero's comic books so I have no idea about how those comics usually go, however Marvels been doing a damn good job making quality films. Their a bit formulaic at times, but fun none the less. They also have to make the next movie that lives up to the Infinity Wars movie. I don't think their going to let us down just yet.

If I were the head of Disney, I would do the following things:
1. Fire Kathleen Kennedy.
2. Bring back George Lucas as Chief Creative officer of Lucasfilm.
3. Apologize publicly to the fans for Episode VII, VIII, Rogue One (yes!) and Solo.
4. Follow Mr. Lucas's original story treatments and re-shoot Episode VII, VIII (and IX) with Luke Skywalker in the lead role (and would again apologize for not being able to bring back Han Solo and Princess Leia as they should've.)
5. Re-release the first six Star Wars movies in theaters with the best possible picture and sound quality.
6. Apologize to fans for Everything.
7. With the guidance of Mr. Lucas plan a new trilogy, or trilogies after the end of the Skywalker-family saga.
8. Apologize to fans and respect them. Always.
I agree. I've apologized to Lucas publicly several times. Had I known what would come, I'd've loved the prequels much more. They are not good films, but compared to VII, VIII they are masterpieces.

Well as I said Pablo Hidalgo is the head honcho of the writing team in Lucasfilm as well as he has been very vocal in twitter. Just like Freddie Prince Jr. Hidalgo has gone to great lengths to insult people based on their color, gender and weight type. He often use the same insults as Rian johnson calling out people as "man babies". He has basically has been as supportive as people who only like to say that fans are butthurt and all that stuff... Sadly the coward has been deleting those tweets as a way to damage control and to save what little credibility he has as a professional.

Here's the sad part. It's actually possible to forward social agendas and diversity with good story telling. Cobra Kai is a perfect example. It should appeal to people no matter where they fall on the political spectrum.
They don't care about money, they are ideologues. Their funding is secure unless really non-monetary dramatic things happen.

I found the force awakens ok but the last Jedi ruined it and literally added useless characters unmemorable scenes and making ray a fully developed character without any development shown and ruining Luke's role. Horrible choreography and doing nothing with characters that had potential like phasma. I liked the newer characters Poe and fin but how horrible the last jedi was written undermined them

Ah, that was refreshing. As a non white, non basement dwelling male it's bothered me more than a little to see the media coverage of this nonsense. TFA was bad (imho), TLJ was trash. Solo might or might not be good, either way I'm not going to go see it. Definitely wont see Ep 9, and maybe, just maybe in that time someone who cares about Star Wars as opposed to pretty ideological movies will take over the helm and I'll be interested again. If not well KK gets her wish and SW is dead (to me) which would be a shame, but as the old saying goes, such is life.
