Mickey’s Mopeds
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 29 ต.ค. 2006
My Videos are mainly short and about working on and riding old mopeds.
Leyton House Electric car testing 1991
This is a movie of the electric car that I made for my children in 1991 (Sorry about the poor quality of the video tape) I made it at work while waiting for the Leyton House F1 cars to return from the last race of the season. Here it is being tested by Ian Powel and Martin Philips in our work shop. Great memories of my time at MARCH and the people I worked with :-) Soon after this video was taken the front of the car was made smaller as it looked a bit train like. The car now lives under the work bench in my garage waiting for grand children !

In this Video I finish off fitting new nylon bushes to the front swinging arms and strip down the top end of the engine to see if I can find the reason for the engine burning excessive oil.

I bought this little moped at the end of last year. It was an unplanned purchase so I have been working on it now and then and videoing as I go, as a result of this some of the editing is not so good! Sorry about that. Ah well, that's just the way it is. Hope you enjoy this video, Mickey
NSU Quickly S 23 The moped run that nearly was !
มุมมอง 1.6K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
A short video of my 1962 NSU Quickly S 23. This is a 3 speed Quickly that I bought back in 2019. I've done a few moped runs on her without any problems apart from a duff spark plug that I had to change and then she was on her way again. Great piece of post war German engineering!

Update video of my 1976 GT250A. Showing off my new second hand seat and R/H side panel in blue! Basic set up of carbs and R/H exhaust baffle temporary repair. Please zoom through the cleaning of the baffles as it goes on a bit and I haven't mastered the skill of speeding up a video clip yet! (probably never will) Hope you like the Video :-)
Honda SS50 Sports Moped. Fixing indicators, changing fork oil then going for a moped ride !
มุมมอง 7K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I am fixing the indicators on my 1974 Honda SS50 with an aftermarket flasher unit and changing the oil in the front forks. Then its off for a ride out in Oxfordshire near Bicester with the moped guys. At the end there are some "out takes" that I have put on just for a bit of a laugh!
I bought a 1973 Honda SS50 but it smokes like a 2 stroke ! Can i fix it ?

This little Honda has been recently restored and looks lovely. It has had a lot of money spent on it but the engine has a problem, its a smoker !

I recently acquired this little Suzuki. Not a moped but back in the day in the UK when you turned 17 you could PX your moped in for something like this and ride away complete with L Plates !

Thank you mickey 😊
My mum had one of these , mid to late 50's from New, it would've been light green 😂
Hi Stuart, thanks for your comments. I have a light green Quickly in my workshop at the moment. I will be doing a TH-cam video of a few jobs that need doing on it soon !
Ahead of it's time. Get the car out to show us. So you worked on F1 cars as well. Wow
@@markhooper5824 Hi, thanks for your comment. Maybe I will retrieve the car from under the workbench and do a walk round video of it over the winter. No grandchildren on the horizon yet 🥲 . Yes I have worked on a few race cars in my time 😃🏎️
That was brilliant mate. Looking really nice. Love it.👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you 👍
Can you get it into 2nd gear, if so whats it go like then?
@@MagicPianos Hi, a couple of years ago I fitted the correct twist grip hand shifter so the gearbox now works as it should. I find that the electric motor struggles a bit when in second when going up hill, even on a slight gradient but on the flat and going downhill it runs very nice in 2nd. The times I’m in 2nd and flat out my thoughts are all about the motor fixing and the drive lawn mower drive coupling, hoping they won’t fly apart 😂 . The bike is in storage at the moment but I am planning on doing a tear down video of the motor and how I made it in the near future. Thanks for watching 👍

That thing is spectacular
Ive got two orange pc50 k1s , doing exactly this job at mo!
@@johndean6181 Thanks for your comment. Great little machines aren’t they 👍
I invested in the same set of Jis screwdrivers 😊
It shouldn’t be making that screaming noise
That screaming noise is from my electric powered Quickly moped !
Totally enjoyed that. Brilliant mate.👍
Thank you 👍
Looks like you've cured it Mickey !!!...well done mate.
Thanks Anthony 👍
Nice one Mickey
Thank you fellow PC50 rider 😊
Looking good.
Thanks 👍
My first vehicle was one of these, I had the blue one in 1974. Bit of a struggle going up the hill near Beckley, but think it went about 40 coming back down towards Islip. Petrol ration books in use when I first had it, far as I recall the tank was so small and mpg so high the tokens/tickets in the book were just a waste of paper.
@@paulmurphy2583 Hello Paul me old mate, I don’t remember you having a PC50 ! But it was a long time ago. That poor little engine must have got well thrashed coming down the Beckley hill 😂 I do remember the ration books for the petrol being issued, as my dad had them but I didn’t think they ever got used? Could be wrong though. Make sure to like and subscribe mate as the next video will out soon 🤣
Vamos arriba la hondita!!!... La mejor 50 cc en Uruguay.... eterna!!!!
Hope you had a good summer on it.
I had one of those, which says how old I am! It was a great little moped with 2 gears, which was very rare way back then.
'81',got my Ap then. 😊, 43 years ago - does it bother you right up to making your back teeth tingling they c all modern 50's 'mopeds'?.
Shims 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 non reqiured
Top 💯👍
I had one (H reg) … my first ever bike 👍
Had one of those 34 years ago.. Nowadays they are too expensive..
Allen Milyard would be impressed with your hacksaw skills but he is on another leval😂
Wonder how many peeps are feeling STUPID,for getting rid of a classic like that when they were young.?.😊....
I had to cut mine down Mike...allowing a small gap to let grease through.
Excellent. These videos are a real help
Nice one Mickey looks like a standard piston to me which is 42mm plus Honda will always stamp oversize on piston Crown. Can't think what piston to ring is tbh. If you find out let me know
Oops didn't watch until end of video
I bought a PC 50 in 1982 ....for the princely Sum of £5.. it needed a new front wheel....£3 from a Breakers it was happy at a constant 25 mph. it's predecessor the P50 was not as robust as the PC 50. Nice Video..thank you
Yes!
You have just made a big mistake the correct drivers are in the toolkit provided 😢
I used to own a PC25 and a PC50. They are interesting vehicles.
This is my evening sorted! Just bought a PC50 myself, same colours and all. Looking forward to restoring and using it!
Hope you enjoy video 001, more to come if you do 🙂
What fuel are you using ?
Hi Mickey, picking up a Blue 1978 model up tomorrow morning, lovely paint, good chrome, etc and the seat looks brand new. Bike is very clean/tidy and looks like it had a resto not long ago and bike has all original indicators, lights and switches/gauges look fresh, though it does have an aftermarket brake reservoir which is Black instead of opaque but at least it is a circular one with the screw off cap so keeping with the style of the OEM one. Carbs rebuilt and vapor blasted, engine turns over great with good compression. Needs absolutely nothing bar a bit of wiring in the headlight needs re-connecting and battery putting back on. Got it for £1800 - Well made up.
Wow, that sounds like a bargain. Hope you get it up and running ok and enjoy riding it this summer 🙂
where can i get caburretor set for this model please
please help me get caburettor type of this model.please i have this bike with completely removed caburrettor and its hard to get here in Africa.kindly reply!
That should be the 25cc version my dad had one of those. The 32cc version was grey and came in a special heavy duty frame.
Anyone know what oil i should use in a honda pc 50 and if what bramds do you recommend
Oil 10/30 semi for pc50 Honda K1
Very nice restoration. This was the first bike I ever owned. I was 15 years old, that was back in 1970. It cost me £12.
Thanks Terry, your story reminds me of my first moped, it was a Raleigh RM6 and cost me £5 in about 73 !
Is there something rubbing?
Love the look of these bikes.😀
Bad luck Mike. We have all been there but it’s part of the fun of riding old stuff sometimes. My Raleigh RM6 has a habit of turning off its petrol tap when I have to pedal assist on steep hills. I refuse to admit it’s user error! Keep up the riding small bikes. In our local club we have a saying, “fast enough to go places, slow enough to see them”
@@wheelssleaford268 ha ha ! Yes I remember turning of the fuel tap on my RM6 with my flares back in the day! Then trying to suss out why the engine had stopped!
Hello Mike...that's a shame the NSU let you down half way round the run, yes i'd go along with the condensor breaking down diagnosis as well...being a hot day probably not helping matters either, hopefully i'll make the next run or we'll just have our own little ride out sometime.
Yes mate, I will get her running again and if you bring one of peds over to mine in your van we could set off and do the same route ?
@@MadMickey58 .... most probably keeping the Raleigh RM12 so will have to get it insured now.
This is the S2/23 model . I used to have a 1964 one . I now I have an F23 model. Virtually identical, but with rear suspension. I have souped mine up. Will hit 45 on the flat on a good day, but doesn't idle that well because of more radical port timing . These bikes are such a hoot around tight twisty lanes . Amazing handling
These Quicklys were an excellent Moped the Honda Cub c100 50 cc knocked them out of the small bike market.
Loved mine blew it up so many times must have been a 300cc by the time I sold it
