    Now, i thinking about reel - i think Daiwa Airity ST SF but what size ? 1000 or 2000 ? Same weight bouth sizes..
    It is short rod but 2000 spool i think is more 'distance' capabilities than 1000 size.. but 1000 looks so small and nice for this extreme light rod - what do You think @i_fish ?

    Thanks for clearing up the difference between SF and LT. Without your reviews i don't think any of us would have a hope of working out what the hell Daiwa are up to with their model naming. Naming a 500 size reel as a 1000 is a very dodgy way to try to compete with your competition and bad for consumers ordering online sight unseen. I wonder how many fisherman will receive reels much smaller than they want with this Daiwa practice.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Exactly. It INTENTIONALLY created the impression that this 1000 size reel is lighter than the Vanquish 1000, but its just a 500 size reel..

    I agree with you about the reel being a 500 size.
    The spool is super tiny when compared with a 1000 size spool.
    This reel is about the same size as the shimano 500 size reels.
    I'm waiting for the ST SF2000SS to come back into stock at digitaka so I can order one to compare to this reel and the other 1000 and 2000 size reels.
    It will be a super lightweight combo when you put it on the Abu Eradicater. I had it on the Gloomis gcx lite 6" ultralight and the combo came in around 6.65 oz.

    Thanks for the review!
    Yes, Airity has a smaller body, but Vanquish has got a smaller rotor. Does SF get a smaller rotor than normal LT2000? It doesn't seem so. And let's not forget, Daiwa is a full metal body reel. For me personally, it's important. I'm willing to sacrifice a few grams for this.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well the weights are about the same if u compare apples to apples. Also the frame of the vanquish is metal too. The side plate is carbon but i doubt that makes a difference in feel

    • @user-pn1hh8ez7e
      @user-pn1hh8ez7e หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ifishcatfish Vanquish has 1000 and C2000 model and this means it shares 1000 body. Airity has only 2000 P and H models and therefore has only 2000 body.
      I compared the Vanquish C2000 and Airity LT 2000-P models before purchasing and chose the Airity because obviously the Vanquish C2000 has more rotor inertia.
      Perhaps Vanquish wins against Airity only in the 1000 size. In the 2000 size Airity is much better for me.
      Naturally, Airiti immediately sent to replace the grease.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-pn1hh8ez7e NO. 2000 size body does NOT exist! Never has, and never will! I see you concocted some logic that looks like an argument, but 2000 is the size of the SPOOL, not the size of the body. 2000 and 1000 size spools are always on the same 1000 size body. Either way your logic fails when compared to shimano, because in shimano the Vanquish 1000 and Vanquish 2000 use the same body, whtever you want to call it. And in the Airity the so called 1000 size is obviously and significantly smaller than what you call 2000 size body. However you wana measure it, Daiwa's naming convention is once again a CHEAT.
      Finally, while these difference are too small for me to detect, i would bet my HOUSE that the Vanquish rotor inertia is less than that of the Airity, at least if we compare the 1000 size Vanquish with anything else from Daiwa. Daiwa has more grease and oil on the drivetrain, which acts as a brake, and will reduce the stopping inertia, but makes the startup inertia worse, and all in all Vanquish remains at the top

    • @user-pn1hh8ez7e
      @user-pn1hh8ez7e หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ifishcatfish In the Real Four models there were separate 1000 models (1003) with 1000 body, but 2000 (2004 etc) and 2500 (2506, 2508 etc) models shared one 2000 body.
      And I was talking about comparing C2000 vanquish to 2000 Airity. This is exactly "apples to apples". Daiwa does not have a corresponding model for Vanquish 1000.
      5 minutes of rotating both reels in start-stop mode was enough for me to understand that even with heavy grease the Airity rotor has less inertia.
      I think after changing the grease I will get Airity ST only with magsealed. Vanquish feels like my Soare XR for me, I didn’t see much of difference.

    In South East Asia we call it a 800 reel. Here 500 and 800 would have the same body size (depending on brands), but 800 would have a taller/bigger spool. Anyway its just a number, they call it what they want to call it.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well.. but they have usex the 1000 size for a different purpose forever. Mow ots misleading. Its not just random. It creates the impression that a daiwa 1000 is lighter than shimano 1000. This is the desired effect and thats cheating

    Hi Victor have you looked at the specification table? The model SF 2000SS-P also weighs 130 grams. You took the wrong reel for comparison...
    Btw...great channel...grettings from Croatia...

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, i did not. I published the specifications table in my previous video. What you need to keep in mind is that the 2000 number really refers to the size of the spool, not the body. This is why 1000 and 2000 size reel have the same body, 2500 and 3000 have the same body, 3500 and 4000 have the same body. In all of these cases number is different but body is same. The body actually doesn't have a size but i myself assign it a size.. like 1000 and 2000 size reels have 1000 size body. But 1000 size body is my naming convention, not daiwas.
      So when i talk about 500 size body, i am talking about the body. The body is smaller, like in other 500 size reels. When daiwa puts a larger spool on the 500 size body, it will call it 2000 size, but body is still 500. I know its confusing but we don't have anything better.

  • @joshgross8741
    @joshgross8741 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think the important spec is how much 10lb braid it can hold. Just how much line it can hold in general. This gives you an idea of how much line the reel can hold. When you look different diawa sizes across their models their is no standard. A size 2500 can hold 150yd of 10# and another model size 3000 will hold 150yd of 10#.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  หลายเดือนก่อน

      3000 will hold more line than 2500. Its the same reel and extra line capacity is the only difference between 3000 and 2500. But in general you are right, the number designates spool capacity, not body size.

    • @joshgross8741
      @joshgross8741 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ifishcatfish Now when we look at the new Regal it is very interesting because they have the D for deep spool. I like the color and the gear ratio, but I would want to swap the spool for one that can hold 150yd of 10# braid. I wonder which body to buy to be able to swap to a normal depth spool that would fit that amount of line. Additionally I wonder what model would be able to swap onto that specific model of regal. If anyone buying a reel base on TH-cam review, I think u guys have a problem, go to the shop and hold the reel , turn the reel, feel the reel . Buy something base on your own judgement. If u are new to fishing , I understand why u need all this review, but if u are a season angler, u don’t need anyone to review anything .
