I am 57 years old. Bought some rings about a year ago due to elbow pain on bar pull ups and especially bar chin ups. After a month or two on rings pain disappeared and has not returned. For anyone in older age bracket I would highly recommend rings for reasons stated in video, as they really do make a difference. I love my rings.
Broonzied I’m 58 and that elbow pain from bar pull-ups it’s exactly what I’m going thru now. I also have rings but was trying to get stronger before making the transition. Thanks for the inspiration sir!
Just started using the rings this last 3 weeks and I have noticed so some of the same things. Even as far as general push-ups which I neglected to a degree I have gotten so much better & creative with. I enjoy both but my joints definitely appreciate the rings like you have been saying.
Before this video i didn't even know what golfers elbow was and i have it, and it really sucks was im going to do a little more rings and give the pull up bar a back seat thanks for that tip about the ring finger thing really appreciate 👍
Ha! Nothing wrong with that. I would usually advise to do what you're weak at, but in this case, if fixed bars bother your shoulders, just do what you're good at and don't look back. Thanks for watching!
I slide my pullup bar through my rings. Really strengthens my hands and wrist, because you have to fight to keep your hand over the bar and keep your grip. Would say it's 25% harder than on a rigid bar. Cool gym, brother!
Can you change bars with rings? Example if used rings for mesocycles and did variations. Now switching to rings and Then when get back to bar Will bar have Improve or stayed the same because with rings you cant pull/train as high load as with bar? In other words should you switch out bar work for rings wefhred pullups?
Great video. Rings works for me also better. With straight bar I got elbow issues as well. Now it feels much better Only I can do with rings 6 reps instead of 10🤭. Thanks
Many Thanks for making such a good informative video. Small challenge is to align both the rings at the same size and length , I see your ring straps have measurements and they are decently Long in length ..if you get time could you please pass or post the link to buy your kind of ring with measurements. Love and blessings ...
I'd say they're actually a bit harder, as they require a little more stability. That said, theyre easier in the joints, as they move with you to the point of least resistance
I do predominantly rings. The other day I tried chinups on the bar and was surprised at how much easier it was. In comparison to rings, the upward portion was much more explosive. I felt like my head would go through my ceiling. That being said, I will do both.
Good video! Quick question, for weighted pull ups, is there a good strength carryover from weighted pullups on rings to weighted pull ups on straight bar? My goal is to do a muscle up on straight bar( and on rings eventually), but recent elbow pain has me wanting to do my weighted pullups on a ring due to less joint stress than on straight bar. So would the strength carryover to the strength on straight bars for my bar muscle up? Thanks.
After 6 weeks only doing waighted rings pull ups and progressing on it I tested my bar pull up max and it was raised by 10 lb !! It now 105 lb ...... You only have to rotate your grip and get stronger
I definitely find rings easier but still debate whether the results equal straight bar. I also made some short ,fat, flat bar handles for better weight distribution on the fingers, avoid that folding over of index and pinky you described. Gymnastic rings are really designed to be used with the false grip anyway, but the angle not so steep on palm for push ups, dips etc.
Yep, beat me to it. Good answer! By the way, I have a hard time believing that someone who can pump out handstand pushups is "too lazy" in any regard :)

Appreciate the feedback! They really do make a tremendous difference in minimizing elbow pain. Thanks again

bingo.....same here, brotha
I am 58 and I have had no elbow pain from straight bar pull up.
rings are cool because it forces you to do good form, you can’t kip or you will loose balance
Indeed!

Ended up here because the gyms are closed, great vid!
Thanks Marco! Hope they open up again soon (for both of our sakes)!

Awesome explanation on the differences between ring pull-ups vs bar pull-ups💪🏽
I am properly weird, i prefer and can do more pull ups on rings than a bar. When i do it on a fixed bar i also suffer shoulder pain.....
Ha! Nothing wrong with that. I would usually advise to do what you're weak at, but in this case, if fixed bars bother your shoulders, just do what you're good at and don't look back. Thanks for watching!
I tried, love it, will be included in my back days. ( from Korea)
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Your gym looks sick man, I'd spend all day there haha. Congratulations!

Thanks for the tip and the love!
Can you wrap the rope around wood instead of a pole to workout?

I’ve had my rings for months now and still struggle with the alignment sometimes lol.
Are the ring pull ups easier?

For me atleast, yeah

No problem. Thanks for watching!
Great content... you can scare a ghost with your voice haha

Great video but FANTASTIC Big Trouble In Little China poster.
Thanks Gregory! It is fantastic, isn't it!?
If you have any questions about any of this crap. Lol. Then I subscribed.
I love the gym
if i'm too lazy to go find a tree to do pull ups can I still train same muscles with handstand pushups?
Vlaudislaus pull-ups work mostly back and bicep muscles, and handstand push-ups mostly use tricep, chest, and shoulders
Yep, beat me to it. Good answer!
By the way, I have a hard time believing that someone who can pump out handstand pushups is "too lazy" in any regard :)
aight thank you both guess pull ups during my runs it is.
