    3 months ago I couldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding. I purchased your upper body basics and have worked through the first bits. I haven’t done milestone one yet but today I did my first pull up. I’m 35 and a fit runner and mountain biker for years but my strength training was absolutely zero 3 months ago. Looking forward to more progress. Thanks from England mate. 👍🏼

    Hey Dominik, I have a question for you (or any other advanced athletes on here). I have always been doing perfect pull-ups to train my back. For the chins I do protracted chins. Do you think that protracted pull-ups should also have a place in my training programme?

  • @FactualClips
    @FactualClips 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hey Dominik i got a quick question! My main focus on pulling strength has been weighted pull ups/chin ups. At the moment i can do something like 5 reps with 20kg, but with perfect púll ups, i feel like doing only body weight is hard enough. Do you think the perfect pull ups are the way to go? Should I start my weighted pull up game from zero again doing only the perfect pull ups?

      The problem with protracted pullups is that your elbows will suffer from the huge stress. your elbows are used like a lever but in a very outstretched position. Trust me any other bicep exercise will give u better gains in the long run. always go for perfect pullup IF your shoulders allow u too. (not letting them creep up when going up or down)

    • @WeightedCali
      @WeightedCali ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I can barely do 3x3 pull-ups with 20Kg but i can do 5x5 bodyweight perfect pull-ups.

      Thats not calisthenics....that's like bodybuilding. You keep doing pull variations, push variations and you'll get a proportional body and strong one too. Don't bring the bodybuilding mindset to calisthenics, they are different for a reason.

      It could also be the ropes attached to the rings, with wood when you hang on them they tend to make those noises, i expirienced that in quarantine, everything 's fine 👌

    How to improve medial epicondylitis (golfer's elbow) and/or avoid it?

    • @keepcal
      @keepcal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Resting completely, then massages + stretching for elbow, wrists, shoulders, then slow reeducation and reinforcment with elastic bands (shoulders, elbow, biceps, triceps) (face pull, L flies, internal and external rotations, ....), then before every workout a really good warm up using elastic band + a bit of stretching.
      General advices : drink lots of waters + supplements like glucosamine sulfate (N acetyl form is a lot more expensive and makes no difference, so take the classic glucosamine sulfate form. Also avoid pills form, prefer powder, as usually pills contains bad stuff like nano particules. This glucosamine sulfate can comes from the chitine, but also exist a vegan version which comes from corn and that is as efficient as the chitine form. The important thing is to take something containing only glucosamine sulfate, as pure as possible.)
      Glycine and Omega 3 might help a lot also

    *Are this science proved or Just your thoughts/experience?* I have been doing your handstand/hspu for months. Note when i started with your workout i could alr do 5 elevated pike pushups. En i'm at 8 elevated pike pushups. Progress yes... Good?.... 3 months to get 3 reps? Pike pushups.... and hspu not coming anywhere even my friend Who can do 1 Wall hspu haven't progressed.

    • @molomono9795
      @molomono9795 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The variation i use is actually a bit of a hybrid that uses both a hollow body and the same line of pull as the "perfect" pullup. Just take on a hollow body position while hanging, the main difference is when Dominik retracts his shoulders he goes into an arch, and when i do it i keep my body line straight, so i'm basically in a really sad looking front lever. If full FL is 90 degrees than i'm at 30 and then i initiate the pullup chest to bar. Then go back down and at the bottom i go back into a dead hang under control. The only thing i can say about this version is that when you train for a sport that requires pulling under high body tension such as bouldering the carryover is much better than any other type i've tried. You still get the incredible upper back sensation but also become efficient at pulling while holding body tension. The negative is that you don't get the same level of muscle shortening so the contraction is a bit less intense, but that hasn't really hurt my development. I can still touch the bar with my chest in any variation except full protracted pullups.

    The perfect chin up in my opinion is the one where biceps do most of the pulling:)

    • @luiginocettimengibar6982
      @luiginocettimengibar6982 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chin Up is a compund excercise, you must contract almost the entire body as an any bodyweight excercise as much you can or want. Muscles work and grow in chain system and the tension you apply (nueromuscular conection). Why unbalance your muscles contracting more another smaller muscle. Rather do Bar Bicep Curl or Pelican Curl if bicep is what you want more for aesthetics im pretty sure.

    • @carlpiaf4476
      @carlpiaf4476 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luiginocettimengibar6982 There's nothing wrong with using a complex bodyweight movement to differentially target a particular muscle group, and chin ups can certainly be a useful too for that purpose. Pelican curls are great of course but for some they are far too difficult and chin ups may be used a preparatory precursor in a progression towards them, ensuring that connective tissue is strong enough to take the load, while also training the rest of the body. I use weighted L-sit chinups as prep for one arm chins, they allow far better preparation for them than pelican curls can due to the neural control elements involved.

    This content does not satisfy me anymore, this is not helpful for strength and size development since his prescribing isolation movement without explaining how to fit that in to different goals of programming. I would say if you’re novice and looking to get big and strong, then don’t do this. This is only for specific desires only and does not help novice trainees in their program

    • @cameronflynn9455
      @cameronflynn9455 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pullups and chinups arnt isolations exercises, They are compound movements and if a "novice" only did these exercises along with dips,pushups and some leg work ir would be perfect
