I bought the Victrix Pro BFG. I love it(definitely agree with your overall review and verdict on the controller rankings). I loved the DualSense Edge too but I play fighting games also and I needed a PS5 controller suitable for bot shooters and fighting games so I chose the Victrix Pro BFG despite how cheap(but comfortable) it felt.
It’s crazy I personally like the Razer Wolverine the best!! Ended up buying it and dang is it nice! The triggers are phenomenal and the tactical buttons are unmatched! It’s worked the best with what I needed it for and I stand by it being the best choice out of these three for myself!

The razer has good battery life and I like the 6 extra buttons. The back buttons take awhile to get used to but it is possible. It feels like decent quality to me. It's a pretty nice controller but still not as comfortable as the elite 2. Its overpriced though big time.

This was pretty in depth and I'm happy with my purchase, the ps edge is coming this week. The battery is maybe an issue but for me that usually will be fine and the braided cable is good for wired. I’m going to offer my perspective of the PDP BFG coming from a background of fighting games and nintendo games (Switch and emulation) and I have to say this is an amazing all rounder controller. One aspect of DPads I’ve learned over the years with 8bitdo, nintendo and even xbox series controllers is that a good dpad for 2D games doesn’t make for the best DPad for fighting games. However with this controller I learned that the best dpads for fighting games make for exceptional dpads for other 2D games. Playing my old favorites like Mario 3 on this DPad while having the option to swap the DPad position to emulate a SNES controller layout makes those games feel smooth as butter and dare I say better than playing with original controllers for those older games. The travel on it has the fluidity of a touchpad but the precision of a clicky dpad such as the series dpad is there. It’s something you need to feel to believe. I wish you pointed out the option for the octagonal gate on the PDP because it does matter alongside with the round top joystick to replicate the N64/GC joystick in a pro controller fashion. The 6 button fightpad can be used in N64 emulators to have the controller become a faux N64 controller which I find very welcome. No longer do I need to look at the direction of 3rd party alternatives and carry even more controllers on hand, just this and my GC controller that’s already wired to my PC for Dolphin. Currently I am blasting through Metroid Prime Remastered where the back buttons I have set to the DPad directions meaning I no longer have to stop to switch beams or visors which enhances the moment to moment pacing of exploration and combat While it is missing rumble and gyro since esports players generally frown upon those features, the rest of the feature, however if they were to ever make a successor to this model, rumble and gyro would be greatly appreciated, as way cheaper alternatives, such as 8BitDo’s offerings, have these features. They should be standardized. And while I understand the audience they’re targeting for this type of controller, there truly is something special and a gold mine to be had if this controller offered more My main complaint at the moment is the software, or the lack of support thereof currently. Being able to bind face buttons to stick clicks for Metroid Prime would be nice, or having less sensitive triggers which feel too sensitive for my liking, would turn this great controller to an even better one. To end on a positive note I can’t wait to see what more games this controller feels good to use in
Yea … the reason why he didn’t go more deep in your points is due to the specific situation my guy 😂. He’s reviewing the controller mostly surface and a bit deep into what it can do
I have all three and use all three. Online shooters I use the razer or bfg. Single player games that have haptic feedback or vibration ill use the the dualsense edge, the fact that the dualsense doesn't have four paddles is no go on online shooters for me. Since razer has the best response time it might sway me to use it more than my bfg on online shooters. Every form of lag cut on competitive shooters is worth it.
I got the edge, high quality build, very nice to use. Function buttons make the only two back buttons viable, and great instant volume control. If it had 4 back buttons, would of been a top contender. Battery life is terrible. But I still like using it with its back dome. I usually install my own back buttons. But xtremerate did not have a ds5 bdm 030 kit at the time. The trigger locks are good, not great. Aside of all that cons still enjoy this controller. To Kevin, love your content. You are the best peripheral reviewer.
For what it’s worth, extreme rate said they are going to make trigger kits, shell kits, and I think the clicky face buttons as well for the edge. Ended up switching to an edge from my extremerate builds purely based off of stick drift
Sorry, know this is old, but what do you mean by 'function buttons make the only two back buttons viable'? Are there extra function buttons that can be remapped in lieu of the two missing back buttons?
@@XGARXS but where are these Fn buttons located on the controller? If they are on the face, you'd still have to release the sticks to press them. I assume they aren't on the back, otherwise they would be back buttons, just named differently. So that leaves next to the triggers I guess? Some pro controllers have extra buttons there..?
This was the absolute perfect video I needed to decide on what pro controller to get. Keep up the amazing work man. Might even wait to check out that aimback pro video before I pull any trigger(:P) yet!
Thanks for the review. Going to purchase both Victrix and Dualsense edge. As for the latter, I'll wait for the next variant comes out, which hopefully gets another colour (because white one is a no go for me) and of course it packs a bigger battery.
This is what I needed to see! I'm not surprised Edge is still the best option (for now) other than the lack of mouse-click triggers. I know it's not related to the video, but I was curious about the Astro C40 TR controller if it was able to be overclocked.
Hey, no idea if Astro a40 can be overclocked but it’s not a great controller, modules have deadzones, even when adjusted on the PC app are crap, rubber coating is good, but ergonomics is too wide and heavy to be comfortable
Wouldn't be surprised if Sony releases an Edge Pro with 4 paddle buttons and a larger battery. As soon as best buy has it in stock, I'll be picking mine up.
One of the cool features of the dualsense edge is that all 3rd party controllers can only remap the rear buttons to take the place of other regular buttons. On the edge the rear buttons can actually be mapped as additional inputs on top of the existing buttons.
Really? I just got mine and figured you can't like all others. I've been wanting an option for paddles to be extra unique buttons for a specific build for Destiny 2 for a while now. I wanna make a unique button for powered melees for throwing hammer Titan, and Destiny's mapping options allow it I just haven't found a controller to do it yet. I gotta go make a custom profile just for that immediately and just makes the $200 I spent even more worth it.
So can I map stick presses to the rear? Because pressing the sticks to sprint or do something like Spartan Rage in GoW is one of my absolute least favorite things to do. I'm also convinced that 90 percent of stick drift is due to devs unnecessarily mapping functions to pushing the sticks in.
@@453wilson I don't own this controller, so I can't verify this. I made that comment because I saw another reviewer say it. It's possible that it would have to be enabled on a game by game basis from the devs.
I have a Xbox elite 2 and a ps5 edge and yes I miss the 4 rear buttons but I have not put down the edge since I have gotten it. Great content, thanks for all the info!!
The wolverine is a solid Steam Deck controller. Had the BFG, too many connectivity issues with ma deck so went V2 and substantially less issues. I haven't touched a edge yet though.
DSX software obtained from steam platform actually gives you option to program the fn hot keys on dualsense edge. Great news to find that, but still fingers crossed the overclocking can be figured out soon enough
I have the Wolverine V2 Pro and another issue it has with PC connectivity is that about 50% of the time when you power it on, the PC just flat out won't recognize that the controller is connected and you have to get up, pull the USB dongle out of the PC and plug it back in, and then it will recognize it. If its not being recognized, even if you power it back down and cycle it again, it still won't connect, the literal only way is to physically take the dongle out. This happens about 50% of the time when powering the controller on. Another HUGE issue is that for some reason, the connection will lag while gaming and the stick input will just go wild for a second and like fling your camera in one direction for about half a second. It also is somewhat finnicky with the connection, like if I am sitting 10ft away on my bed and i have my knee up in front of the controller, it will lag a ton and the inputs will be all fucky. I know its a wireless signal issue because if I put my knee down and point the controller straight at the dongle, it works fine. Its still usable and overall a nice controller but those minor annoyances shouldn't be happening on a 250 dollar controller. I still prefer it to my Elite Series 2 though. The mecha buttons feel so nice compared to the mushy Elite Series 2 buttons. And I dont have the Xbox dongle for the Elite Series 2 so when its on straight bluetooth, I can definitely feel its responsiveness is slower than the Wolverine V2 Pro. It just feels sluggish in comparison. And with the RGB off the battery life on the V2 Pro is really nice. I would consider the Dualsense Edge but the thought of plugging it in every 4-5 hours is hella off-putting.
Also the 2 additional shoulder buttons on the V2 Pro are super convenient and kind of make up for the shitty placement of the back paddles, in my opinion. No other controller has those to my knowledge besides the previous wired razer controllers
I really needed to see this comparison video it just makes me more curious to get the edge since it has all the features and looks of a stock dualsense with additional features and the stick modules look amazing the fact I can simply pay £20 for a replacement instead of paying for another controller will be so convenient and saves money I will probably get the edge at some point just wish 4 paddles were an option
For fighting games definitely the Wolverine V2, for all around games (especially PS5 games that use the adaptive triggers and speaker the Edge), and to change it up every now and then the Victrix BFG.
Another great and thorough review but I wish you would have compared the Dualsense Edge with the Battle Beaver and the Hex. That would have been a really great battle. Please do one 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Now that it's been a few months since the Dualsense Edge has been out, can you confirm if Sony's firmware update software on PC actually lets you customise the back buttons? Or do us PC players just stick with the regular Dualsense + Steam config support we currently have?
I agree the paddles on the edge are so sensitive! I’m coming from hex gaming which imo are so so comfortable for the paddles. I just feel like using the edge is the go to to get used to. The interchangeable analog modules just make it the best. But the edge gets a lot bad the trigger stops aren’t even that great there’s still a lot of travel, paddles are too sensitive and the biggest issue is WHY NO 4 BACK BUTTONS/PADDLES! There’s 4 controllers at least make it an option
Love your controller reviews, and this video is no exception. Your previous videos introduced me to AimControllers and I'm so glad I bought the PS4 and PS5 controllers (with your code, ofc). The Dual Sense Edge looks really nice and I'm tempted. How do you like the Edge compared to the awesome digital triggers on the AimController and their Kickstarter AimCon?
I bought the Razer Wolverine and actually really enjoy it. I rarely use the top two back buttons and opt to use the extra bumpers instead. The big thing for me was that I have never felt comfortable using a 4 button system on the back of a controller but still wanted the functionality of 4 extra buttons. The mechanical triggers have also worked great. Like you said about the Dualsense Edge, I don’t see a need for a middle adjustment. I either need as short as possible for fps or full motion for pretty much everything else.
How is it size compared to regular ps5 controller? I got the victrix, i hate it, it's noticeably smaller and like he said very cheap feeling. I'm considering the Wolverine, but just curious about the size and im not sure about the back lever placement seem funny.
@@bigshoots1181 you can immediately feel that the Razer controller is wider and a bit thicker all around than the stock controller. The best way to think of it is a slightly thicker Xbox controller. As for the back buttons, I personally like the placement of them. I have far fewer accidental presses than my other pro controller. Like I said before though I mainly just use the larger paddles and the two extra bumpers.
@@GamerHeavenOfficial yep, it sounds like a great controller too, it was my 1st option. But the points you mentioned in the vid were really helpful to compare some features I didn't know of and couldn't find anywhere else online
one more thing, the force of face button on v2 pro is feeling hard to press (x2 time than DS5) , unlike wolverine ultimate I feel so good with light press
Battery isn't an issue for me because I play from a Lay-Z-Boy close enough to just plug it in when it's getting low, plus the cord is so long on the Edge you could sit pretty far away and still charge.
Between the victrix and the razor which has the better suited ergonomics for smaller hands? Or are they both good? Because i find the regular dualsense uncomfortable, too big Thanks
Also. I love my BFG I use it for fighting and first person shooters. My dual sense I use for regular games. I have the wolverine though I don’t mind it. I like the way it performed when I play Fortnite, and I think I’ll keep it that way. Wolverine for FPS, Gambit strictly for fight pad and Dual sense for exclusives
I use the middle setting for my Edge triggers. I have always swapped my R/L1 and R/L2 for fps games anyway cause that was the default for PS3 with MW2 ect and I just got used to it. Also when you don't have a hair trigger you have no option but to swap them. So for those games like Destiny or Apex I like having some throw for things like grenades, or tac abilities in Apex, but the default is to much so I feel the middle option is perfect.
I'm currently looking for a ps5 pad the has the lowest possible input delay "wired" for street fighter 6. However I cannot stand the PlayStation pad layout and prefer Xbox's layout because I use the Analog instead of the D-Pad. My issue I have is I don't want any extra input delay that I would get using a brooks converter for my Xbox controller so I can compete in sf6 on ps5. I was considering getting the victrix pad but the delay is 2 high compared to the Razor Wolverine. I might give it a try but I was wondering if you could recommend a pad for completive sf6 on ps5
Now that Im used to them ,I cant use a controller without the extra bumpers or mechanical buttons . I do also use a steam controller but for select games .
@Gamer Heaven, just got the dual sense edge because of you. Your reviews are fantastic, funny, and engaging. I also just returned my 2nd Xbox elite series 2 controller because the face buttons, specifically, the “A” button not registering an input. I tried contact cleaner and that only worked for a week. Is there another Xbox wireless controller with back paddles, that is more dependable and reliable that you can recommend or do I just have to go through multiple exchanges/returns until I get one that actually works well? I was also looking at the extremerate diy Xbox series x remap kit, but I can’t solder for shit. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thanks!
Razer is the one "premium" company whos products, especially controller wise, have got progressively worse as time has gone on. The extra buttons have gotten worse and worse in placement and design and the ergonomics are horrible these days. Its almost as if theyre being designed by PC players who exclusively use keyboard and mouse lol.
By far the best controller review i have seen! Really detailed and not just the sticks, the buttons and the UNNECESSARY looks. I just wish there were more about gyro and touchpad quality and remapping functionality on the stream deck :).
The Razer shape is for big boy hands, they even said it in a marketing material for the first V2. You know it's comfy, and I always rest my fingers on those rear buttons no problem.
Also, the triggers on the Dualsense Edge have Hall Effect sensors built in. This was an upgrade Sony did secretly, ifixit tear down video shows this. Awesome review btw Gamer Heaven!
@@mariorruiz are you surprised? They wouldn’t be able to sell millions of $20 replacement sticks if they used Hall effects where it counts. That being said…🤬 Sony right in their stupid 🤬 for doing this.
Sad that u did not but in the scuf or some other brands like aimcontrollers agsinst the edge! Also a question is the scuf long domed longer as the dualsense long domed? I just ordered a edge and scared that the sticks are gonna be to short :/
So the biggest question is always going to be…what’s the potential of there being a new system in place for overclocking the new dual edge controller!!? Dx4 must have worked been the same process?
I've been debating on getting the aim, dualsense edge, or the hypr but now that I know the new aim controller will be out wanna see the review on that now.
Good video except the harping on the structural integrity of the bfg..it's a lightweight plastic to keep the controller weight low especially since it has so many moving parts and built in battery. Bfg controller feels so much better in hand than the other two because of this..unless you're looking to try to snap a controller in half, the light weight plastic is not a big deal, in fact it's a plus for gamers that like a lightweight, balance feel.
Can any of these controllers remap the rear/extra buttons as independent buttons? I'm playing on PC, and I rarely do the FPS thing anymore, so I just need more buttons.
I have an Evil controller and had to send it back two times already and the thing I liked about that was the mouse click triggers but was looking to get a replacement. If price wasn’t the ultimate deciding factor and you wanted a controller for Competitive FPS that took into account reliability, comfort and function would the Scuf Instinct Pro or Victrix Gambit (or any other controller recommendations) be a better choice?
My X and O face buttons were so much harder than the others out of the box. I bought the PS5 upgrades for Ghost Of Thushima and Uncharted 4. What a blast with Duelsense Edge two paddles, 3D FUCKING audio, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. I don't care about the trigger stops or multiplayer
I really want the wolverine but I don’t like the location of the back buttons. I like resting my fingers on them. I really wish I could just use my elite series 2 on ps5
I’ve got that razer and the edge I haven’t touched the razer since I got the edge. It’s so big it really starts cramping my hands bad after like 30 mins.
Bought all 3. Had victrix preordered forever and since it was delayed I got the dualsense edge. Didn't expect to like the edge since I'm use to 4 paddles, but that controller feels best to me. Returned the razer after a day. The paddle placement is just terrible. But still to this day the scuf reflex fps has been the best ps5 controller to me. The paddle placement is perfect.
I mostly agree on your take BUT I have to tell you anyone looking to buy a controller for fighting games the dual sense controller’s directional d-pad is AWFULLY inaccurate and unpredictable and the Wolverine has the dpad on the wrong side so the only good option is the victrix or the hori fighting pad but if you want to play the occasional AAA game or a shooting game the victrix is the only option
I'm really tempted to get and Edge early... I want to test the mid point trigger travel for Armored Core 4 2nd stage boosting how "good" it maybe for the emulator

While it is missing rumble and gyro since esports players generally frown upon those features, the rest of the feature, however if they were to ever make a successor to this model, rumble and gyro would be greatly appreciated, as way cheaper alternatives, such as 8BitDo’s offerings, have these features. They should be standardized. And while I understand the audience they’re targeting for this type of controller, there truly is something special and a gold mine to be had if this controller offered more
My main complaint at the moment is the software, or the lack of support thereof currently.
The missing back buttons made me buy the Victrix..
Sorry, know this is old, but what do you mean by 'function buttons make the only two back buttons viable'? Are there extra function buttons that can be remapped in lieu of the two missing back buttons?
@@jimdoom2276 Yeah you can use the Fn buttons like you use the back paddles.
Your wall of controllers is pretty sick, someday I want a setup like that.
Amazing and extremely thorough comparison. Thank you.
“I’m so glad to ride that thin line between the both of them”
I hear what you did with headphones 😂 46:57
Guru of Controllers...and every time a pleasure to watch your videos!
Thats the Way------ thats the Video i was looking for 🙂you deserve 2 mio subs.Thank you greetz from germany
I'm really glad I found your channel, thank you for these in depth reviews, they're fokin awesome.
@@Gamingreviews115 my bad for the late reply. Thank you for letting me know. I’ll probably end up with the Edge just to be safe.
8:50 i love the half domes, they are honestly perfect
This is the main reason I’m returning my Victrix. I assumed each additional button would have its own unique input. Going to purchase the Edge now
This was a complete lie, sorry for those who bought it because of this guy
Thanx dude, Your videos always helps. I choose Victrix as my main, Im always turning off vibration on controllers. But owning both is the Play👍👍
You can use DSX to modify the Dualsense Edge's settings and even the 3 custom profiles
Great video so much information thank you. On another note you are slowly becoming my new spirit animal
Hahah I’m glad to hear that. And you are very welcome
I love how sarcastic you are but you also make great reviews
Nice voice, editing, jokes, info and dongle.
Thanks David
Does KF fit on those razer controllers? That's the reason why I'm avoiding buying anyb
@@alanuriel786 my control freaks did not fit on the Razer controller.
@@Inmate1124 awesome thx for the info👍
I was thinking on picking up the Victrix one, but this video convinced me on choosing the DualSense edge instead. Thanks
You’re welcome. Let me make it clear the Victrix as mentioned in the video is still a great controller
@@GamerHeavenOfficial yep, it sounds like a great controller too, it was my 1st option. But the points you mentioned in the vid were really helpful to compare some features I didn't know of and couldn't find anywhere else online
If the scuff was in this video. What placement would it get?
Not good
Can we talk about what mic u are using? Ur voice sounds fantastic with this mic
how do you purchase the joysticks to replace broken ones in the pro bfg?
or like where do you purchase them?
I find myself watching for the intro alone 😆
one more thing, the force of face button on v2 pro is feeling hard to press (x2 time than DS5) , unlike wolverine ultimate I feel so good with light press
Battery isn't an issue for me because I play from a Lay-Z-Boy close enough to just plug it in when it's getting low, plus the cord is so long on the Edge you could sit pretty far away and still charge.
I usually don't compliment youtubers but this... this is a real good review and worth watching. Thank you Mr. Kevin.
Yes! The vid I've been waiting for from the best controller reviewer on the internet. Thanks!
Between the victrix and the razor which has the better suited ergonomics for smaller hands?
Or are they both good?
Because i find the regular dualsense uncomfortable, too big
Thanks
Both for big hands lol stay on the normal or regular controller
Man of taste. Respect for Cayde.
Great review….you have done tremendous work!!! Definitely now I know which controller to get
What a great review! You deserved my sub and like!
You Rock! Good stuff, well made
The Victrix control hub app on windows 10 does not recognize Victrix BFG pro controller for ps5!
Have you done a video on the Razer Raion, ? I can't see one, I was wondering how that compares to victrix pro, input lag etc, thanks.
Solid review man. 🎉
By far the best controller review i have seen! Really detailed and not just the sticks, the buttons and the UNNECESSARY looks.
I just wish there were more about gyro and touchpad quality and remapping functionality on the stream deck :).
I agree came here to see if the razor had a gyro and he didn't even mention it on any of them
The Razer shape is for big boy hands, they even said it in a marketing material for the first V2. You know it's comfy, and I always rest my fingers on those rear buttons no problem.
Only dualsense edge has built in mic, adaptive triggers and haptic vibrations, right? How about light bar and gyro? Other 2 also have it?
Also, the triggers on the Dualsense Edge have Hall Effect sensors built in. This was an upgrade Sony did secretly, ifixit tear down video shows this. Awesome review btw Gamer Heaven!
The triggers but not the sticks… they got to be sh*ting me! 😡
@@mariorruiz are you surprised? They wouldn’t be able to sell millions of $20 replacement sticks if they used Hall effects where it counts. That being said…🤬 Sony right in their stupid 🤬 for doing this.
This comparison really molly wop'd the spit outta me!
😂
Bfg controller feels so much better in hand than the other two because of this..unless you're looking to try to snap a controller in half, the light weight plastic is not a big deal, in fact it's a plus for gamers that like a lightweight, balance feel.
great video, thats why i bought another dualsense edge for battery issue, and also full package with module. 👍🔥.
From the battle beavers etc to these. Which one would choose if you had to choose one for first person shooters?
A man.
The way you explain everything really makes me laugh in every video.
Thx 4 the info and the lol grts.😉
As an Xbox parallel on the PS5, between the Wolverine Pro V2 and BFG, which one would you recommend?
I’ve got that razer and the edge I haven’t touched the razer since I got the edge. It’s so big it really starts cramping my hands bad after like 30 mins.
I got the Edge on a Tuesday and by Thursday the X button was jammed. 😥
Love the vids.....bout to mollywop these paddles later on today. Cheers bro.
Cheeers man
Bought all 3. The paddle placement is perfect.
does your scuf break all the time?
What would you recommend buying if you had a choice between the victrix or the razer? I have big paws and play mostly shooters on my ps5.
Best review EVER! 🎉 Thanks
Wow, thanks!
My friend, where did you get those controller stands from?
This is such a good H2H, we're all probably thinking, when are you gonna do Elite series 2 vs Dual sense edge??
Also, thanks for the sacrifice for audio quality Kevin. It sounds awesome 👍
I have been seeing alot of TH-cam channels that never do controller content making that comparison video so maybe I will do a proper one of my own :)
Thanks for noticing man!
Can you try the MSI controller I want to buy one but I don’t know if I should
