    My Acadia sometimes turns on a works great & sometimes I get that BS blinking yellow light that just blinks. I've had it filled up with freon at the dealership & it works good for a while & then it'll start blinking. WTH can it be ? Why can't they fix this dang thing

    I have an issue where the AC is blowing cold and the AC light starts to blink so it begins to throw hot air. I just had my water pump replaced and don’t know if that has something to do with it because it was my AC was working just fine.
    Do you think they’re replacing my water pump has anything to do with the AC blowing out hot air?

    I have the 5 blinks also. However, the ac system works great until it doesnt. I dont feel that i have a leak. It happens after driving a little while. I wouldn't have cold air at all if it was a leak. Can the ptessure switches be changed without evacuating on these?

    • @raincitywrench117

      Not sure on an Acadia but have done GM pressure switches before and they will have a schrader valve underneath. I would have the HVAC module scanned to see what codes are stored. The ambient air temp sensor or evap temp sensor could also have an intermittent problem.

      So the engine wasn't on when you pressed the button? If that's the case, I suspect the flashing is the logic programmed into the hvac module and supposed to do it. If it doesn't flash with the engine running and the a/c works then roll with it. 🙂

    Tell me you did pump the system down before you charged it, right? The video went straight from pressure testing with compressed air to adding refrigerant. Just want to make sure any rookies or DIYers understand the importance of boiling any water out of the system. Especially important it the system was left open for a while or if your compressed air system has water in it.

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice catch. Should have put that in the video. I ran vacuum on it for 1/2 hour before charging 🙂

  • @La2venida
    @La2venida 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Do you have a special fitting for pumping the air and also is the air compressed air that you're adding there to 70 PSI

    Ours blinks 5 times also, charged it like you did and it only lasted less than a week. Curious if that car held that charge.

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  ปีที่แล้ว

      I can't say for certain but it hasn't come back. Carefully inspect all the lines, condenser plus front and rear evaporator drains for oily spots. If nothing is found then you will need a leak detector to sniff the evap drains to see if refrigerant is detected. It's very possible one of the evaporators is leaking.

    So if it's blinking five times that means it's low on coolant / freon?

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, or a bad pressure switch. Most likely your refrigerant is low.

    • @raincitywrench117

      Sure, if they still sell it in auto parts stores. You need to look at your underhood label to see what refrigerant it takes. R134A or R1234
      The only thing you will not know is how much refrigerant is in your vehicle without connecting it to a machine to recover and measure.

      Make sure you check these:The A/C light is designed to flash and disallow A/C operation if any of the following conditions are present:
      Ambient air temperature (AAT) is too cold (35 degrees or colder)
      Vehicle system voltage is less than 9.5 volts
      Refrigerant pressure is too low
      Refrigerant pressure is too high
      Engine coolant temperature (ECT) is too high
      Engine is not in RUN
      HVAC Control Head is in the OFF position

    Is cooling fan suppose to be on when ac is on or just when high pressure kicks it on

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, when high pressure meets the threshold. On cool days the fans may not come on for a while after the a/c button is pressed. On hot days the discharge pressure will be much higher and fans will come on almost immediately.

  • @LUIBEFISHIN
    @LUIBEFISHIN ปีที่แล้ว

    Mine started overheating today and at times it does this i don’t know! No leaks both hoses are hot . I checked fluid level on resivoir and radiator all good… at parked it’s good at 210 I drove it for lk 10 min and it goes up above 210 like a line or two… what do you think it is ?

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  ปีที่แล้ว

      If all the fluid levels are full, make sure both cooling fans come on when it starts overheating. If the fan come on then make sure the air being pulled is warm. If it feels cool then you most likely have a bad thermostat. If all that checks out fine then take it in for a "block test". This test checks for hydrocarbons in the cooling system. If it fails the block test then that means the head gaskets are leaking.

    • @gregorybatz6440
      @gregorybatz6440 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I had this problem, took me a year to solve. Finally a mechanic simply cleaned out a whole bunch of debris from between the condenser and the radiator. This was after replacing the water pump and "radiator cap" twice, the thermostat, and flushing the radiator (all performed by the dealer). I also took off the bumper cover and *gently* cleaned the condenser.
      Hope that saves you some time and aggravation!

    My 2014 Acadia compressor let out the nasty black magic smoke last month and I got the compressor replaced. Now, the ac works for about 10 minutes then the recirculation light turns on and ac light stays on but ac stops working and dumps all the Florida humidity into the cabin air. When I press the recirculation button, it flashes 3 times and stays lit. When I turn off and on the engine, the ac works again most of the time if I let it stay off for about 30 seconds before turning it on again. Have you seen this issue before? Thanks.

    • @raincitywrench117

      @@raincitywrench117 Update: The ECT sensor was occasionally faulty. I replaced it a month ago, and my issue has not re-appeared! 🙂
      Also, my 2012 Terrain started to smell "a little off," so I took a look into the air filter box yesterday. I found a dead mid-life opossum in there! I removed the blower fan, pushed the opossum down, and yanked it out. I'll certainly disinfect the filter box and evaporator coils with a foaming cleaning spray next.

      @raincitywrench117  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Mark-vk5lx Thanks for the update. Yuck! I pulled a mouse wedged into the evaporator core once. Have seen where you can disinfect the heater system by rolling down the windows, turning the heater on and then spraying a can of Lysol into the air intake which is usually the passenger side cowl area and then letting it air out.

    • @raincitywrench117

      Definitely. I would have the charging system tested. Easy check with the proper tester. It will test alternator output and ripple. If excessive ripple is detected it can cause all sorts of electrical malfunctions and drastically shorten battery life.

Had a brand new 22 F150 that lost the entire infotainment system on his way home after buying. The screen just went blank. The APIM module failed.
