Your bottle is 12 ounces. The easier way to do it is put in 10 ounces of water 1st then add 2 ounces of castile soap then drops of essential oils. when you put the soap in 1st, then the water, it is more likely to start foaming immediately because of water pressure on the soap. By adding the soap last, you will need to shake the container to mix the concoction. You can also pre-make the mixture and store it away and refill your bottle as needed. (if you want to make 1/2 gallon {64 ounces) then use 50 ounces water; 10 ounces castile soap. This will make 60 ounces of soap leaving 4 ounces for air The drops of essential oil will be 5x since you are making 5 times as much foaming soap). Make sure the pump is a foaming pump or it will not come out as foam.

If you add water the soap can start introduce bacteria and mold after about 2 weeks.

Since this recipe uses a ton of water, you’ll need to use up this soap within a week or two. If you plan on keeping this around for longer, you have to add a preservative since it will start growing bacteria.
