Apex Devastator hit $3.78, Selvala Heart of the Wild hit $4, Vesuva hit $3, I also recommend picking up the flares (red one is like $1), Cyber Conversion is awesome, it hangs out next to my buddy strix serenade (light play for $2.5). Below are my MH3 post release bargain bin recs $0.25 - Priest of Titania, Buried alive, Cephalid Coliseum, Meltdown, and Accursed Marauder, deserted temple, null elemental blast, marionette apprentice $0.50 - Ashling flame dancer, dreamtide whale, revitalizing repast, shadow of second sun, orims chant, kappa cannoneer, archway of innovation $1 - Kaalia of the vast, flare of duplication, ripples of undeath, pearl medallion Don't miss the train on Arena of Glory (bordlerless) - it is an auto include in haste matters decks that have mountains (think Kaalia of the vast). All of your LOTR picks are great recommends, Allied Fetches still haven't bottomed yet but we are likely within 20% of a bottom.
Medallions are really good in two color decks, sometimes I’ve found they’re even surprisingly better because a lot of mono color decks often steer into artifacts for support.
I don't know why people keep saying white sucks at cars draw. Between Welcoming Vampire, Tocasia's Welcome, Minas Tirith, Firemane Commando, Benny Bracks, Chivalric Alliance, Trouble in Pairs and Archivist of Ogma, you have *loads* of good options now that are going to draw you cards for doing pretty much anything you're going to be doing in white now. Red's the color you need to worry about
Because you have to work to actually draw, meanwhile Blue and black have it easy "cast spell draw x". While Red yes it struggles to get card advantage, it can compensate with impulse draw via single spells and that often lets you see more cards that the 1 draw per turn you get from cards like Tocasia and Welcoming Vampire.
10:21 Firm disagree with Green Medallion; that one is actually stronger in mono-green decks since they don't tend to run many artifact (non-green) cards. As for multicolor decks, I don't recommend Medallions anyway... Yes, ramping lands is great, but the cost efficiency is still present (i.e., 2 mana cost to ramp +1 mana). Medallion on turn two = 4-cost commanders on turn 3. Yes, it can be destroyed (like a signet or talisman), but the cost reduction for basically every card in a mono-green deck is pure gas. 👌
Just out curiosity, wouldn't you rather just cast Farseek, Three Visits, Nature's Lore, Sakura Tribe Elder, etc. for the same mana cost + synergy gain in most green decks?
that's a good point really. Just because green already has a lot of ramp and because land-ramp is generally better, doesn't mean Sol-Ring or Mana-Crypt and especially Carpet of Flowers are suddenly unplayable. It's always about the rate. Obviously emerald medallion isn't as strong as those other three cards, but neither are a ton of other green ramp spells. Green ramp is so good because it's so good at colorfixing while ramping. But when it comes to pure speed, artifact colorless mana/cost reduction often ramps you harder. Any reason not to play the green medallion could also be flung at Sol-Ring and friends. Realistically, you can play a medallion turn 3 into another card, effectively making it cost 1 mana to play the turn it comes into play. Next turn you can easily double or even tripple cast stuff.
@@BlitzFlix1 they serve slightly different roles or rather, have different advantages. If you're playing monogreen, you're not even playing farseek (it fetches non-forests) and the other cards they ramp +1 and more importantly, they fix your mana. Nature's Lore and Three Visits are so good, because they can fetch triomes and shocklands. But that's not monogreen. If I'm playing monogreen I'm still ramping obviously, but a card like Three Visits looses a bit of luster, if all you're getting with it is a Forest. 2-mana green ramp most of the time simply ramps you by one mana. Emerald is a cost-reducer so it can "ramp" for more than one mana + depending on how much else you play in the same turn you drop a medallion, it might be free or even mana positive. E.g. with 4 lands out, playing a an emerald medallion you can still follow it up with a 3-mana green spell or two 2-mana spells, effectively making the medallion free on the turn it's played. Even if it's like turn 7 and you have 10 lands in play, if you just drew 10 cards from a Greater Good or Rishkar's Expertise or some other nonsense -> you could play a freshly drawn medallion and be able to cast a ton of spells reduced by 1 mana from your hand and/or recast your commander. Regular 2-mana ramp doesn't turn into basically a green Dark Ritual.
@@PaulSzkibik: Thanks for the thoughtful response! My point was mainly that even in mono-green, the player would still prioritize getting lands that are unlikely to be removed or have a synergy boost like landfall. You're right, Farseek is absolutely unplayable in mono-green. Bad example. Completely agree that Emerald Medallion can be beneficial in a short burst by netting additional mana through cost reduction though. Here's the problem, Steve + any add additional lands effects still do more for the overall game plan because they remove the lands from your library, thus smoothing out your draws. Using the example with Rishkar/Greater Good, Emerald Medallion hurts your overall chance of a good draw because in that burst since Medallions don't remove lands. You still have other cost reducers in green like Goreclaw which achieve the same effect as the Medallion while also synergizing with the specific game plan. Even in mono-green, you still have cards Wild Growth and Utopia Sprawl that ramp faster or Gaea's Touch which is both a ritual when it needs to be while also getting out more lands for the exact same mana value. Those provide the added benefit of paying for activated abilities which the Medallion won't do. Gaea's Touch will almost always do more than the Medallion, I guess I have a hard time seeing where the Medallion fits in when there's just so many more options that either are practically better or will have more synergy that adds more the deck executing its plan.
@@PaulSzkibik: Gaea's Touch on Turn 2 gets you access to up to six Green on Turn 3 conditional on an extra Forest in hand. Medallion would net you the same amount but only if you had three two drops to play.

I agree on Minas tirith. A spell that costs 1ww and reads "draw 1 card if you attacked with 2 creatures this turn" is a terrible card, but stick it on a land, oh boy! Nothing is worse than flooding out. Sure, if you have other cards in hand for card draw, just use MT for a white, but as a way to dig or if you don't have other draw sources in hand, it is great
Falre of Malice: I think a lot of aristocrat style decks don't actually want to sacrifice their non-token creatures because those tend to be the ones making tokens or saccing them so it doesn't scream auto-include to me there. Flare of Malice seems to me like it's really at home in more grindy value decks (grixis, jund) and, being instant speed, flare of malice can be used defensively if someone is targeting your creature with a card that has a bunch of extra stuff going on and then just fizzle the entire spell if it has no other targets.
The medallions are good in two color too. In my Boros that is fairly evenly split between whites and reds and actually has a ton of 2 color spells I’m never upset having either medallion out.
