@@masterfarr8265 The issue is that there are most likely fanfictions out there that could've done the idea much better personally I think having Starscream as the hearld instead of Megatron was dumb what if Megatron didn't die but was just fatally wounded like Optimus would be had he not been interrupted by Hot Rod? I think the idea of having Prime live could work hell maybe have Hot Rod as a student would be amazing as he is learning how to become more considerate to those around him instead of himself and Ultra Magnus acting as a secondary Leader would be awesome again the ideas were there and there are most likely fans of the series who've probably done it better this comic just didn't go about it right
I think a Transformers What If Series should be about different continuities and not do anything with the G1 movie, mainly because there isn't much that could be different and be on par with the original. Like here's an idea for a TFP What If. "What if Smokescreen took The Matrix?"
Deviations feels like a bad movie fanfiction written to punish hot rod while keeping optimus alive Even though optimus prime had plenty of time to kill megatron before hot rod arrived
Starscream being the main villain could be brilliant if done right, if they made him a genuinely terrifying presence that was warped by his new power and started to kill anyone who stepped out of line out of his fear of losing position of leader
Heck I would've preferred Thruscream. Why? Simple *SPOILERS FOR BEAST MACHINES* To reference Waspinator's Vehicon form because the buzzer is the one Starscream possessed in Beast Wars.
I'm a G1 fan and Hot Rod is my boi! Hot Rod "getting Prime killed" was done because it's the classic story plot - hot shot hero screws up badly and then by going through trials and experiences becomes greater than before and finds redemption. Heck the end of the film shows Prime forgives him as he gives him the title of Rodimus Prime, you can also hear Hot Rod's concern when Kup is wrecked after his fight with the giant squid. Hot Rod doesn't want to make the same mistake twice. I never blamed Hot Rod, yeah I was one of the kids that cried when Prime died but it didn't make me hate Hot Rod at all. It's just the script writers screwing up if anything.
Hot Rod getting blamed is mostly just an innocent meme. Sure you'll find the occasional bitter old man-child who is legitimately upset the franchise didn't keep regurgitating the same season 1 and 2 plots for another five seasons, but those are the exception. I've shared the meme countless times, but to me season 3 and the movie are by far the most interesting parts of G1 and largely for the reasons you mention or reasons related to it: starting with the movie we get more actual character development. Things that happen carry over into subsequent episodes. Rodimus as a character grows, he struggles with guilt, he struggles with having impossible shoes to fill because his predecessor was so beloved, so seemingly perfect. That's what makes him interesting, and a character that appeals to a more mature audience. Season 3 in general, I think, had some of the best storytelling in the franchise: Five Faces of Darkness in particular, but also for example the episodes featuring Starscream's ghost. We learn mode about the history of Cybertron, the history of the Transformers. We got a taste or this during season 2 (the Key to Vector Sigma for example), but season 3 really went all out. That's what really pulled me into the franchise: this idea that these robots had a civilization that was millions of years old and had an entire mythos of its own. Sure the animation may have been spotty a lot of the time courtesy of AKOM, and not every episode is good (Carnage in C-Minor was downright awful), but a lot of the stories ARE good, and took the Transformers into uncharted territories. I liked the fact that the narrative had progressed, the Autobots now firmly in charge of Cybertron, while the Decepticons are basically a group of exiled rebels that make occasional incursions onto Autobot territory. As a result Rodimus is more of a politician and a diplomat than Optimus ever had to be, and Ultra Magnus actually ends up leading many of the field operations while Rodimus is more of a bona fide leader of Cybertron and its colonies. To me it always felt like many of the writers had fallen in love with the story and this caused them to break away from the formula, and explored new territories in the expanded universe of the Transformers. It's just that western cartoons weren't really ready for that yet, so when a new cast of characters debuted and the formula was altered or even more or less dropped, it was a shock to the audience. By the 90s this had become much more common, which we can see in cartoons like Beast Wars. At the time it split the Transformers fandom, but in the long term Transformers really became a bit of a pioneer in western animation. And I'm glad it happened. I love the 86 cast, including Hot Rod/Rodimus. Heck, a lot of my favorite characters are from the movie or post-movie G1. And you're right, Hot Rod's character arc is about redemption, and that's what makes it interesting.
I don’t think so. It’s a long stretch to say Megatron would be able to grab the gun, aim and shoot before Optimus who already has his finger on the trigger.
@@RobinSwede Megatron already had the gun before Hot Rod came, he's also pretty fast to recover and he could take a shot easilly because of how near they were.
I would've gone with Hot Rod came from the future and has visions from what happens in the original film and tries his best to prevent it but not everyone knows so some suspect Hot Rod as a Deception Mole so not only does he have to prevent the darkest hour but he also has to clear his name and keep a group of time keeping transformers off his back so he can change the future for the better.
The 1986 film was perfectly fine as is, this story didn’t need to exist. And they way they characterized Hot Rod in this is kind of insulting, especially when in the movie, he was actually a respectable character, once you look past the whole “Hot-Rod-got-Optimus-killed” thing. A bit bland, but not as reckless and dumb as this comic. Funny thing is, I don’t think they should’ve brought Optimus Prime back to life at the end of Season 3 in the show. A part of me liked to think there was a character arc they wanted to do for Rodimus Prime. How he was struggling with leadership after the defeat of Unicron, and how the show tries to make him different from Optimus Prime, while still trying to honor his legacy. Him calling out Galvatron’s bluff in one episode, facing off against Optimus’ reanimated corpse, realizing his mistake of giving up the matrix and taking up responsibility, it was interesting stuff. Season 3 doesn’t do it for Rodimus as well as Animated did it with their Optimus Prime or Beast Wars did with Optimus Primal, but I think if Optimus just stayed dead until the end of the 3-part “The Rebirth” episode they would’ve given Rodimus more depth and giving Rodimus a complete character arc in the show. The deviations comic just doesn’t want it to happen for him, and just feels like Optimus has to be on top of everything with no chance for anyone else to have their time to shine. His death happens because “people hate Hot Rod kill him off lol.”
Eh, it was because Kids before sent angry letters to Hasbro after they killed Prime. And after the Zombie Prime happened, it was rubbing salt in the wound. So Hasbro made the decision to bring back Prime and turn Rodimus back to Hotrod.
7:34 - Where did you hear about that Decepticon Traitor plot? It sounds really cool and would love to know more Honestly this comic had so much potential. Im totally down with seeing how things would have turned out if Optimus survived, and exploring both the good and bad implications of that. The death of Prime is the heart of this movie so turning that on its head is an amazing idea, its just so badly put together. Character assassination, terrible plot, no exploration of anything, awful message at the end and just pandering to those still hung up on their robot dad getting boddied. Ah well, always the original eh?
I'd argue it goes even further. It takes something fans note as a flaw in the movie and spits in their face by hamfisting in a way to make it a "The original timeline was the best way it could have gone" story. If it had organically done that, it could have perhaps made a compelling argument for why Hot-Rod's actions were part of his destiny to save the universe. But by causing all the things that go wrong to be due to the memories of the original timeline (Hot Rod causing Ultra Magnus to die due to his mental breakdown and other events), it doesn't allow the story to progress naturally on it's own. Instead the fact it is a divergent timeline itself is what causes the bad things to happen rather than a "for the want of a nail" situation.
Honestly, this "What if" premise woulda worked so well... Like, Transformers Legends wrote that Wheeljack prevented his own death in the movie, justifying his comeback in Victory. That and the idea of Hot Rod having visions of the death of Prime and trying to prevent it and trying to clear his name as he's seen as a Decepticon mole, working his way into the path of leadership and bettering himself. Like, it'd reach the point in which Hot Rod questions if he deserves the mantle of leader as he holds onto the Matrix, before an injured (Yet not dead) Optimus and all the Autobots inside Unicron prove their forgiveness and he becomes Rodimus Prime... Honestly, even thinking about this made me shed a tear. Which is way more than what I can say about the trash you just covered
The LazyEyebrow got it right what REALLY would've happened if Hot Rod didn't try to stop Megatron...Megatron wouldn't shot Optimus dead anyways because Prime was too busy monologue-ing. Also, Season 3 wasn't even THAT bad, and Rodimus ended up a more effective leader than Optimus anyways keeping Cybertron on Autobot control.
I really wanted this comic to be good. As I explained in a biiiig comment I made in the comment section of Rodimus Primal's "Hot Rod didn't kill Optimus Prime" video, the hate the character of Hot Rod has received because of the death of Optimus Prime makes me feel...uncomfortable. I don't support projects made out of spite, but I don't blame any of the people who created that comic book if they felt the same way as I did in regards to the hate Hot Rod's character has received because of The Transformers: The Movie, therefore if the story was good, any spite that existed in the writing could be forgiven or ignored, at least to an extent. Plus, what if scenarios always interested me and I was genuinely curious to see the answer to the question "What if Optimus Prime lived in The Transformers: The Movie?" (In fact, I'd love to see another alternate version of the plot of the movie if the Decepticons didn't attack Autobot City and the Autobots launched their full-scale assault on Cybertron). Welp, the answer was disappointing. I wanted the Hot Rod hate band-wagon to stop and I wanted it to happen in a good story. Key word "good". But the story wasn't good. Everyone was out-of-character, the pacing was awful, plot points were happening just because they happened in The Transformers: The Movie and even tho this story is supposed to defend Hot Rod, it somehow ends up feeling even more disrespectful to him with an even less understanding of his character. Heck, most of the things I liked in this comic were good merely as concepts. I won't go as far as to call this comic the worst piece of Transformers fiction ever, but I'm still gonna call it terrible, because it is terrible. I feel that what this story should have been was some sort of deconstruction of Hot Rod's character arc. If someone wants to have a taste of how such a deconstruction would look like, I recommend a video made by JOHNNYFLASH called "The Fall of Hot Rod". If someone wants a good alternate version of The Transformers: The Movie, I recommend the Shattered Glass reboot. Well, those were my 2 cents for this comic. Have a good day.
worst part about this very idea is that no, Hot rod didn't kill Optimus in the movie, he just didn't make a difference. Megatron would have shot Optimus and maybe even escaped
Hot Rod didn’t kill Prime. His biggest sin was not struggling to escape Megatron’s grab more or attempting to throw Megatron’s aim off. The scene called for Prime to die. The characters’ hands were tied. Hasbro is to blame, not any character involved
The writer and artist both seem like great people, and I especially respect them because we definitely need more people of color and women in the industry. Also love the baby 98 Godzilla toy. Shame they got saddled with this hit piece against the 86 movie cast in a misguided attempt to give fans what they thought they wanted.
>”Although it’s lack of influence on the current franchise landscape is both a blessing and a curse, for if we don’t learn from the past, in this instance, we are most definitely destined to repeat it.” >Me, watching this video after the Siege review: 👀
At least Optimus Supreme in Transformers Energon was a combination of Optimus & Omega Supreme. Megascream sounds like something Starscream came up with in less than a minute. Right after putting Megatron's fusion cannon on his arm (Can't believe I gave an idea from Energon credit were credit is due)
I wrote a story very similar to this, except it picks up decades later and involved time travel. Hot Rod stops himself from interfering - goes forward in the time stream where Starscream had been reformatted into Thunderwing and everyone but the Wreckers are dead and Earth has been ravaged. It ends with Hot Rod reclaiming the Matrix from Starscream/Thunderwing - who had stolen it from Optimus after he died destroying Unicron after Starscream stabbed Unicron in the back.
I loved the art and some of the ideas in this comic. But seriously, the way it treats Rodimus and by extention the rest of the movie's cast just sucked! Not to mention the whole "What if" scenario is completely wasted. If Prime lives, there has to be something bad that happens in place of Prime's death. For example, maybe.... Unicorn destroys Cybertron?
Man, I am sick and tired of listening to these "GEE-WHINERS" constantly blaming Hot Rod, while completely turning a blind eye to Optimus' lack of actions and the stupidity of the writers behind the movie. At least Autocracy did "that scene" more believably. what a waste of ink, paper, and pay that could've gone to more competent writers. Talk about a missed opportunity. What is even worse is that fans have come up with even more creative and better ideas but when that will never be able to see them illustrated.
Great video Doc!! I generally hate being a pessimist, but I honestly do not have any hope for the WFC trilogy. It's not because of writers, it's mostly the style that turns me off. It just... doesn't have a style of it's own... And like I've said, I genuinely wanted to be hopeful for it, but the only thing I'm excited for is, of course, the toys... I honestly liked generations better when they didn't try and force out shows to coincide with them...
As shitty as this comic was. I think I hate the beast within slightly more mainly because it scarred me when I was like 7. I really think you should do more of this!
I understand the whole “we gotta kill off the main cast for the new toys” but I think I understand why most people wanted to blame Rodimus for Optimus’ death, it’s because Rodimus would replace Optimus and most people got too attached to OP as well as most fans of Optimus were kids and seeing their childhood hero killed and replaced by this red hot kid appeal wasn’t good. But whatever at least Rodimus is getting some cool toys even years later
While I too don't like this comic (it needs more pages to have the story and characters fleshed out, maybe multiple issues), I have to say that I am one of the few people who love Age Of Extinction for what it tries to do. But yes, The Last Knight is pure garbage.
Imagine if they gave you the idea that Starscream would become the new leader. Only to have Shockwave shoot him from behind and become it. After saying that he believes Megatron would've wanted him to be the next leader because Megs made him the one left on Cybertron. Heck they could have his upgraded form be called Shockblast. Why? It was the name of his version from the Unicron Trilogy because Hasbro lost the rights to his original one at the time.
@@DrLockdown Tumblr has been stereotyped to have artists and shippers who make lewd pics of weird ships(all fandoms have people like that). I did not know about the whole exodus thing though.
This comic makes me wanna check out the 1986 movie and compare how the characters, especially Hot-Rod and Starscream were handled. And then laugh at how oh so very differently they were handled. Seriously, I don’t need to have seen the movie (I haven’t seen the movie but I do want to) to know how much they fucked up.
I'll forever be sad we didn't get a proper conclusion to the Dreamwave comics, especially the War Within, which if you look back at it has left a huge footprint on the franchise, from IDW to the High Moon games.
Honestly I think the 2019 comic is one of the better ones. It handles pacing well, the characters are good. They actually go into the ramifications of death, the effects it has on the characters. We’re getting an angle of the war and Cybertron that hasn’t often been explored. And while it doesn’t have the worlds best execution, and the art leaves some things to be desired in early issues. But as the comic has moved along things have improved greatly.
If anyone is reading this nowadays, I believe when making a transformers what if Optimus lives within the movie I believe you’d have to heavily alter the story to fit in Optimus, a lot of the story reasonably focuses on Hot Rod since he’s the main character along with his team so including Optimus into the mix doesn’t work, personally I believe you’d have overhaul the story entirely to even fit Optimus in the story
Knowing all the hate this comic gets. I think a potential Megascream toy would be some sort of modern equivalent to a Bot-Con exclusive (I say modern equivalent after what recently happened to E3)
See an easier swap to make the what if more interesting swap the autobot shuttle crews, so instead of Ironhides group you prime and the dinobots, but yeah this issue just tries to go through the motions of the movie at a silly pace the marvel adaptation of the movie was 3 issues and Idw was 4 . 1 issue isn’t enough there was no need to include quintessa or junkion in the story if 1 issue is all you have
Nooooo. The " '84 " comic is far more disrespectful to the marvel comics characterizations. Hard disagree. Marvel Optimus never would have done that. This is not he same character that killed himself over a video game, or surrendered to Scorponok. That refused to execute Ratched fused with megatron, despite pleading to be put out of their misery. It's just simply not the same character, deliberately killing his own troops for expediency.
Before anyone says Hot Rod killed Optimus, I’d like to direct you to the marvel comics adaptation of the movie, where Hot Rod wasn’t there in time, and Optimus dies
From another comment I posted on a different vid.. Most modern transformers comics were/are just shitty fanfics that only served as fanart material. Even I knew that before i got into Transformers a few months ago. Don't fuck with the Autobots.
i agree with much in this video...except for the comments about Age of Extinction. That's actually one of my fave ever pieces of TF fiction and has one of my fave villains in Lockdown and I love the effect the events have on Optimus. Even as an 80s kid (who loved the Marvel Uk comic, and despised the cartoon) I never really bought why Optimus would always defend humans so easily as if he was totally naive to just how scummy much of humanity is to each other. So to have something where Optimus was really starting to show disdain for at least some humans (and deservedly so) made him seem more relatable to me and I like to think he was so easily corrupted into being Nemesis in TLK because of how betrayed and foolish he felt by the humans in AoE and his mentor Sentinel in Dark of the Moon. Never much cared for the 'infallible superhero' type Optimus he's sometimes portrayed as in other incarnations. Anyways yeah I did read Deviations a year or so ago and even though I'm not a big fan of the 1986 film (yes I did see it in cinema, but even then I too aware it had totally ripped about 90% of it's plot from Star Wars just added to somewhat better animation style over the series, and added some fine music, not The Touch though, I bloody hate that song to this day, Stan Bush's other track Dare is cool though, and a great score by Vince DiCola) I did find this comic to have such a bizarre and mean-spirited tone to it all and several characters being very out-of-character. It came across like the bad kind of fan-fiction that somehow got an official release and there was pretty much nothing about it I found likable or even 'cool' (Megascream's name, design and combining ability made my eyes roll so hard). Unless I blinked and missed it you didn't mention it wasn't just Magnus killed off in that crash, but Arcee, Springer and Perceptor too (writer did not seem to like the 1986 toys eh? To be fair that's about when my interest in the G1 toys started to wane, as we lost the more realistic, detailed stuff from Diaclone and the peak of G1, Bandai's Macross naive Valkyrie mold that became Jetfire, into increasingly more simplistic sci-fi designs that relied too heavily on some other gimmick rather than actually improve transformation and articulation, both of which often took a huge step backwards. Not saying there weren't fun toys but most I would get mainly based on their characterisation in the Marvel UK comics rather than the quality of the toy itself) And yeah The Beast Within was trash too. But as you said that was a freebie with a release of the cartoon. IDW actually thought Deviations worth selling to their customers. I've never really got on with IDW's TFs (I did enjoy most of their Bayverse comics that added some usually much needed backstory filling in between the films) but their version of G1 has just never appealed to me even after several attempts I made to try get into it before the reboot. I did enjoy the TF '84 quite a lot though that you mentioned. A whole lot more than the Regeneration One they did some years before that did the opposite by adding on to the end rather than the beginning (and doing so by going purely by US comic continuity thus ignoring much of my fave Marvel UK things which ok fine I get it, but was still disappointing and I didn't enjoy RG1 enough to make it worth buying).
Warms my Spark to see someone who agrees. Sure, AoE had some questionable moments, but we see Prime express himself more. He's fucking FUMING when he finds out Ratchet's been killed, and as soon as he saves Cade and reunites with his remaining crew, he decides it's time to fuck off. At least until he finds out there's still some Con fuckery going on. But still it's a movie I'd rewatch any day. Though Ratchet's final moments scene always fucks me up.
They're arguing over whether prime should've pulled the trigger on megatron Also they are drunk. But don't worry. They both gave permission when they sobered up
I nominate IDW's spotlight Megatron to be far worse, the whole thing is just a Starscream torture episode done by Megatron all because of his failure as a Decepticon leader and that Starscream deserves to suffer in his hands, I think Hasbro wanted IDW to do that one out of spite and IDW probably went too far with it like the creators of Happy Tree Friends did with sniffles in tongue and cheek
Ok I'll admit id Rather have this what if Optimus prime survived story but i can admit it has its flaws one its really rushed hot rod getting mistreated was absolutely unnecessary despite what people may say hot rod didn't get Optimus killed Megatron knew Optimus wasn't going to risk hurting one of his own troops and he took advantage of that all hot rod wanted to do was help his leader and he's literally on his knees begging Optimus to forgive him because he does in fact believe its his fault starscream talking over Galvatrons role in the story was once again a cool idea but im in total agreement here Megascream is the dumbest name they could've picked if it was something along the lines of darkscream or as people are saying hellscream would have been fantastic next killing off ultra magnus arcee springer and preceptor and blurr is again not ok i call bs that they couldn't just jump out of the ship while hot rod and Daniel take the escape pod they can float in space we've seen it happen numerous times so the fact they just expect that there going to die is absolutely pointless In all honesty if i wrote this story it would have been exactly like the movie the only difference is i would have had Optimus jump out of the way instead of just standing there and then have him punch Megatron just like he did in the movie preceptor and first aid would patch him up sense he doesn't have the blaster wounds and the wounds he did have wouldn't have been enough to cause death and the rest would play out like it did in The film but instead of ultra Magnus dying he would get captured and Optimus trades the matrix for his safety after Galvatron leaves hot rod and kup show up make peace with wreackgarr and the other junkeions and they blast off back to cybertron to destroy unicron and then at the end Optimus and Galvatron would duke it out prime gets the matrix back from Galvatron after Optimus defeats him opens the matrix and boom unicron is defeated that's how i would have done it
I was on your side 100% until you called Prime's animation unexpressive. Unicron trilogy, absolutely, but prime? Even in that clip of starscream you showed while you're talking, he's expressing more emotion than everyone in the WFC trilogy combined

This comic sounds terrible but it's nowhere near as bad as IDW 1'S Optimus Prime comic. They turn him into a religious Zealot who indoctrinates cybertronian youth into joining his mission. Not only that but he also gets shat on CONSTANTLY by people who are supposed to be his closest friends. SPOILERS for IDW 1 For example: in some earlier phase of the comic line, Jazz killed a cop who had a gun (that was designed to look and be as powerful as Megatrons gun mode) in order to save Bumblebee. Jazz willingly surrenders to the humans during this Optimus Prime comic. Anyways, Prime is off on cybertron (I think for a funeral for Sideswipe), then a bomb goes off at the location of the space bridge after they enter. This not only shut down the space bridge for a few days but also killed a few dozen humans, refugees, Autobots and Decepticons. But wait, there's more! A magical race of humanoids also try to infect the planet with their magic, essentially killing everyone on the planet. TLDR So Prime has to deal with the personal and political aspects to dozens of people dying from multiple planets, as well as finding the culprit behind the murders. He also has to save the planet and everyone on it from certain doom. Then Jazz sh*ts all over Primes character for "not being there" for him so that he can get out of jail. Like bro, dozens of your brothers and sisters JUST died and there were very valid reasons for Prime not getting back to earth. (Politcal reasons, active murderers on the loose, planet ending event, and the destruction of the Space Bridge!) Then nearing the end of the run, Prime executes a surrendering Galvatron and then sticks what remains of his head onto a pike. Like bro
This timeline of events seems…very fucked up? Jazz killing the cop happened a fair bit before ANY of this, and Sideswipe didn’t die here either. Any explanations for this horribly out of proportion time line?
@@tfan2222 I may have gotten the time when Sideswipe died wrong but in my comment, I clearly said that Jazz killing the cop happened in the earlier/1st phase of the comics prior to the Optimus Prime comic. Those same terrorists were also going to destroy all life on cybertron. Jazz later gets pissed at OP when they meet again saying that Optimus "hung him out to dry" when he was left on earth
@@tfan2222 Nvm I just checked the wiki. Sideswipe died prior to the terrorist attack BUT his funeral was going to happen when Prime first arrived back on cybertron with his body. Then it obviously got delayed due to the bombing

Hot Rod "getting Prime killed" was done because it's the classic story plot - hot shot hero screws up badly and then by going through trials and experiences becomes greater than before and finds redemption.

Heck after the battle Hot Rod asked Optimus to forgive him.
Actually, the death of Optimus Prime in the '86 movie can happen without Hot Rod, since Prime was still talking and Megatron was going to shot him.
Not by the (flawed) logic of this comic :p
I don’t think so. It’s a long stretch to say Megatron would be able to grab the gun, aim and shoot before Optimus who already has his finger on the trigger.
@@RobinSwede Megatron already had the gun before Hot Rod came, he's also pretty fast to recover and he could take a shot easilly because of how near they were.
If Optimus didn't take a minute to lower his weapon just to talk he would have capped Megatron right then and there.
IF Roddy wasn't there.
@@_V.Va_ He would have talked anyway.

When I said this was a bad comic I was attacked by the fandom. Didn't change my opinion it was horrible.
Really? I've hardly come across people who actually like it. Guess even the worst of media has its fans
The comic exists to insult. It's quite frustrating
i 100% agree with this comment
Eh, it was because Kids before sent angry letters to Hasbro after they killed Prime. And after the Zombie Prime happened, it was rubbing salt in the wound. So Hasbro made the decision to bring back Prime and turn Rodimus back to Hotrod.
7:34 - Where did you hear about that Decepticon Traitor plot? It sounds really cool and would love to know more
Honestly this comic had so much potential.
This comic is basically a hate letter to Hotrod.
Also I thought Magnus, springer and arcee were dead when the shuttle crashed.
Wow, the writers must REALLY hate post season 2 G1
Also, Mega-scream is like a mix of an F-15 Eagle, a Macross Valkyrie and the Vic Viper from Gradius and Zone of the Enders

I like to think "megascream" chose that name himself
Kiss Players gave us new cassette characters, the Autotroopers, and the G-Virus as a plot device.
This comic contributed nothing.

Ah, The Beast Within. Continues to annoy people almost 20 years later.
No. Better. Unicron eats the Quintesson home world before his defeat. And the mechanical buggers SOMEHOW take over Earth.

It's not just gen 1 fans it's people as well
I hate how they got rid of ultra magnus, arcee and springer
Yeah. Arcee in particular is frustrating. Because they fridged the first major female Transformer and didn't give her a single line.

Kinda sucks considering Transformers what if sounds like an amazing idea
i agree with much in this video...except for the comments about Age of Extinction.
Not saying there weren't fun toys but most I would get mainly based on their characterisation in the Marvel UK comics rather than the quality of the toy itself)
And yeah The Beast Within was trash too.

I like megascream even the combiner mode
I nominate IDW's spotlight Megatron to be far worse, the whole thing is just a Starscream torture episode done by Megatron all because of his failure as a Decepticon leader and that Starscream deserves to suffer in his hands, I think Hasbro wanted IDW to do that one out of spite and IDW probably went too far with it like the creators of Happy Tree Friends did with sniffles in tongue and cheek
I kinda wanna see Megascream get a toy now.
Ok I'll admit id Rather have this what if Optimus prime survived story but i can admit it has its flaws one its really rushed hot rod getting mistreated was absolutely unnecessary despite what people may say hot rod didn't get Optimus killed Megatron knew Optimus wasn't going to risk hurting one of his own troops and he took advantage of that all hot rod wanted to do was help his leader and he's literally on his knees begging Optimus to forgive him because he does in fact believe its his fault starscream talking over Galvatrons role in the story was once again a cool idea but im in total agreement here Megascream is the dumbest name they could've picked if it was something along the lines of darkscream or as people are saying hellscream would have been fantastic next killing off ultra magnus arcee springer and preceptor and blurr is again not ok i call bs that they couldn't just jump out of the ship while hot rod and Daniel take the escape pod they can float in space we've seen it happen numerous times so the fact they just expect that there going to die is absolutely pointless
In all honesty if i wrote this story it would have been exactly like the movie the only difference is i would have had Optimus jump out of the way instead of just standing there and then have him punch Megatron just like he did in the movie preceptor and first aid would patch him up sense he doesn't have the blaster wounds and the wounds he did have wouldn't have been enough to cause death and the rest would play out like it did in The film but instead of ultra Magnus dying he would get captured and Optimus trades the matrix for his safety after Galvatron leaves hot rod and kup show up make peace with wreackgarr and the other junkeions and they blast off back to cybertron to destroy unicron and then at the end Optimus and Galvatron would duke it out prime gets the matrix back from Galvatron after Optimus defeats him opens the matrix and boom unicron is defeated that's how i would have done it
I was on your side 100% until you called Prime's animation unexpressive. Unicron trilogy, absolutely, but prime? Even in that clip of starscream you showed while you're talking, he's expressing more emotion than everyone in the WFC trilogy combined

SPOILERS for IDW 1
For example: in some earlier phase of the comic line, Jazz killed a cop who had a gun (that was designed to look and be as powerful as Megatrons gun mode) in order to save Bumblebee.
TLDR
So Prime has to deal with the personal and political aspects to dozens of people dying from multiple planets, as well as finding the culprit behind the murders. He also has to save the planet and everyone on it from certain doom.
Then Jazz sh*ts all over Primes character for "not being there" for him so that he can get out of jail. Like bro, dozens of your brothers and sisters JUST died and there were very valid reasons for Prime not getting back to earth. (Politcal reasons, active murderers on the loose, planet ending event, and the destruction of the Space Bridge!)
Then nearing the end of the run, Prime executes a surrendering Galvatron and then sticks what remains of his head onto a pike. Like bro
What the fuck.

it's clobber. She is based on Lugnut. In fact, Clobber is made an answer for the female version of the decepticon by the story editor and was originally called as Lugnut, but got changed in later production, though the original name is still used in other foreign language dub
between stuff like this and Hasbro's unwillingness to permanently kill Optimus off and give other characters a chance to rise to the occasion and shine as a Prime, I find myself wanting him dead more and more
I’ve got a better name for megascream

No offense, I know this is a two year old video and your style has evolved a lot, but like. the audio mixing in this one is TERRIBLE. Like, the intro is way too loud - and then, you frequently go from whisper quiet to a full yell with no warning.
Yeah I got a lot of complaints since then, so I went to work fixing it.
Dude. Did no one tell you Transformers: Lost Light exists?
Nowhere near as bad as this
All pretty poor but you seriously think this is worse than KissPlayers?!?
This is just ineptlly lame, not morally reprehensible & exploitative
Kiss players is a manga
