It has come to my attention that I dun goofed. Brandon Easton bailed before kingdom started. My apologies. Ultimately my opinion remains the same though. The subtext is still insulting in my eyes. Sorry though.
Good for him honestly. If you hate a project you’re working on so much you let your contempt show through the story itself you should honestly ditch it and go work on something you enjoy and that makes you happy instead
This honestly felt closer to cyberverse in terms of pace and writing. Voice acting could be better but you can tel Jake Foushee had a lot better time here. While I wish he went full on cyberverse anything is better than nothing.
“Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy is the biggest disappointment since my son.” In all seriousness though, this show did Predacon Megatron dirty. I don’t know which is worse for the character: the lack of David Kaye or the fact that he was turned into a simp for Deception Megatron.
I mean, he was a simp for Megatron in the Beast Wars cartoon as well. Difference is, in that series, he at least had a personality and directly effected the storyline with his actions.
@@_V.Va_ The worst part is, there were EASY ways he could still idolize OG Megatron more and still avoid what we got. One's goals are not necessarily, and usually not, inherently tied to one's personality. BW Megs' goals could shift to working to ensure that OG Megs wins and be loyal to him....and yet still be smooth, charismatic, faux-polite, verbose (in a good way), theatrical, i.e. the qualities of the BW Megs we know and love.
My main problem with this whole story is that everyone from writers to characters keep bashing Optimus for yeeting the All Spark away and him coming to terms of his actions and consequences, when it should have been about Megatron's inability to take responsibility for his actions and decisions that led to war and later on for Optimus yeeting the All Spark. Or at least show it and put focus on it. Instead, he is treated like he is constantly at a higher moral high ground than Optimus, has no one expect SS question his actions only few times, not because that what he would do or have a reason to do so, but because he was treated like the stereotypical G1 self in those parts of the story apart from Kingdom, and everything Megs did, does and doesn't do, doesn't truly matter, because it's all Optimus's fault and he learns nothing. And he is not punished in any way at all. This. I hate this. I hate writing and characters that are like this depiction of Megs. I have nothing but pure hatred and headache for this. The entirety of Energon / Super Link is better than this whole Trilogy.
I feel like one of the only parts I liked was Megatron's "I am a weapon" moment and Starscream's "I can fly" scene. Sad that such badass momemts came from... This.
"I can fly" was written by Mae Catt, who they brought in for half the Kingdom episodes. You can tell their episodes because they're the ones that had actual character interactions instead of leaning on macguffins and speeches.
Okay, as much as I enjoyed kingdom (it wasn’t great but considering how shit the last two were it was good enough in my eyes, at least it wasn’t masters of the universe level trash) but saying that should be a crime
My biggest problem with this trilogy, it wants to be dark and edgy, but it still pulls punches. Like if your going to do a darker tone go all in don’t go half and half.
Ok. Then what is the best cybertron story since those games? Actually what other TF show even explores the cybertron war bc that's what i need to be watching.
@@thediscracedone4932 I guess Cyberverse? But besides those games and comics, I can't think of anything I've seen that actually explores the war as in dept as the games
@@luvinnicholas Yeah see, I'll give this trilogy one thing: It told a different TF story. The middle & end might've been shit but at least there aren't humans? Idk i just wish in this continuity Elita got the matrix of leadership, Bc mr "forgive me-prime" was not it. And i honestly forgot Cyberverse existed.
I feel like an even better at take on Unicron is Armada's version. A being that is first introduced a bit before the halfway point of the series as this unknown monsters Sideways is both working for an afraid of, is working behind the scenes in the entire show to continue the fight between the Autobots and Decepticons and to get the mini-cons, a being that is the embodiment of the Transformers hatred and lust for combat that Optimus attempts to overcome, and who even after being defeated is still a threat, as Optimus and Megatron's pure hatred for each other is so strong it's enough to repower a dark god. Meanwhile in Kingdom he's just sort of there, and that's it.
@@chaospxl_ honestly that is the comparison i keep coming back to, i watched the first season and all i could think time and time again while watching it was 'Armada was not amazing and nostalgia but in comparison why does this feel so lifeless, why is their no energy, why does nothing about this feel alive or passionate, i literally remember nothing from my time watching it. When even Energon feels more justified then and better then this netflix stuff you gotta wonder what was going on' Bleh if nothing else we got some good 80s Movie Figures out of this, between a decent Kup, a decent Hot Rod, a Amazing Rodimus, a Perfect Cyclonus, and a Pretty Good Galvatron, give me a decent Springer in this set and ill be happy.
@@fartfast4834 Depends on the run TBH. The Furman era, Maximum Dinobots, Wreckers saga, Chaos Theory, and much of Phase Two were genuinely pretty good though, and at times even exceeds both DC and Marvel in quality.
16:05 "This show hasnt reached an audience outside the fandom" Hell it hasnt reached people in the fandom, I've been here since 2012 and I've skipped the show entirely other than watching bad memes about the show
Blame Hasbro for wanting that aligned continuity. Aka they wanted the story premise to be similar to Cyberverse with the whole Allspark story. According to FJ Desanto in RodimusPrimal's interview with him.
I've been in the fandom since may, and the most i know about this show is the discourse over it's portrayal of Nemesis Prime. I've mostly been in an endless loop of Prime, Rescue Bots, TFA, G1, and the Bumblebee movie. And about 1,0000,0000000 memes about Bumblebee and Optimus being father and son. (WHY IN THE NAME OF UNICRON ARE THEY SO CUTE TOGETHER?! THEY HAVE SUCH A WHOLESOME DYNAMIC!!!) I may not know what I'm doing, BUT NOBODY CAN STOP ME!!
@@FireFury190 Well let me rephrase - I knew this story was going to be bland because it focused on a macguffin and not events that led to the war and how it impacted the characters.
The thing that got me the most is Dinobot dying; It was pulling on my nostalgia for the character, but the moment it was over you start to think "this is not earned at all". Dinobot had a conflict with the maximals for years on earth, and had directly or indirectly the other 200 maximals under Primal's command a hand of killing them all. This is unlike Beast Wars where Dinobot turned when they landed, where only his orgin and nature was in conflict with the maximals, while the kingdom Dinobot had blood on his hands. Let's not forget the cast is not big enough to even make sense; the only alies of beast megatron are blackarachnia and dinobot; why are they the only ones who stick around for this long? Sure Beast Megatron had an army os Skorponoks, but they may as well be drones.
There's one thing I don't see many people saying: That one scene of the allucinations, sideswipe mentions sunstreaker but no sunstreaker seen, they cheaped out and gave sunstreaker no 3d model
"Yes, they DID just do that." -This kind of sums up why, in the Discord, I keep going on about Elita as a character. Because not only does she get shat on toy-wise, but YES, they DID just do that! It's like she's meant to suffer indignity no matter what version, though at least G1 Elita is just not there anymore, and Animated Elita is a tragic figure, and one more in the list of sins Sentinel ought to pay for. This? She gets fridged. Killed while being captured. Not even a dignified death. -With Jetfire, they spent an entire season focused on him proving his worth as an Autobot...only to kill him off. It's like his story didn't matter in the end. The two segments after that -Even if this wasn't Easton's work anymore, it clearly was done by someone who thought along the same lines. That or he laid the groundwork, and whoever took over chose to follow his notes. -Optimus' story is the kind the writing bends itself over for the sake of glorifying his position. Trying to show in the end, he can do no wrong, or his "bad decisions" will lead to good results. I forget what this is called. Some kind of favoritism. And I have a feeling it involves the term "sue" in it. Other points: - It's the voice direction and recharacterization that hurts the otherwise legit and interesting idea that BW Megs' goal here is to ensure the success of the original Megs. Everything else about him didn't need to change. He could still have the same character while being loyal to OG Megatron. - This really did feel more like a toy commercial than others, and it STILL failed at that. I think that's all for now, and as condensed as I can make this
@@caseysshenanigans708 I did NOT want to say that was the case, but the more I think about it, the more I realized there is no other term for it, since he's just magically absolved of all consequences
It would’ve been better if Galvatron and Nemesis Prime were interdimensional conquerers and the maximals travel back in time to get help from the Autobots instead of this.
When it comes to Elita and the rest dying, we did see proof of their deaths when Optimus and Bumblebee were travelling to the temple. They came upon her body lying in the snow, arm outstretched. As for the point someone else in the comments made, asking about what happened to the 'bots and 'cons in the infirmary, they likely eventually died due to lack of able bots to treat them and lack of energon anywhere on the planet (or they could've been the ones that helped make the Maximals and Predacons along with any other stragglers left on Cybertron, who knows?) Also, in that final Deus Ex Machina scene, I noticed that Shockwave was nowhere to be seen among the sparks of the fallen, despite Skywarp and probably Scrapface being there... What the heck happened to him? Did he actually survive the explosion that pretty much leveled everything in a one mile or more radius when the others didn't? Don't get me wrong, I love Shockwave as a character generally, but there's no way he could've tanked that or even had the time to escape when he was supposed to be tending to the other prisoners... Could've been a case of the animators not wanting to provide more than a few shiny character models and wanting to get the characters they thought everyone cared about into the scene, but it still makes me scratch my head continuity wise. I'll be honest, I liked Kingdom for some of what it did, and it's the only one of the trilogy I would rewatch. Dinobot had his good moments, and despite us not being able to grow much of an attachment due to how short the show itself was, he still was a stand-out character compared to his commander... Only episode I truly have much issue with is the final one. Megatron didn't even make peace, he just smirked and walked away! Had he learned nothing or was this just like a "Yeah, we're cool now" kind of deal?!
My guess is similarly to Cyberverse, Shockwave was too evil. In Cyberverse, Shockwave’s spark was so evil and dark that he corrupted the entire Allspark. So my guess is that he wouldn’t be here as an allspark ghost because he isn’t in the Well of Allsparks, but rather, rusting in the Pits of Unicron. After all, this Shockwave was absolutely the most evil character in the show (Unicron doesn’t count since he had five seconds of screen time)
But they cut off the plot ass soon as the bombs went off, they didn't give us any possible clarification that they were permanently dead, so their deaths were still up for interpretation until kingdom
@@Thechaosprime Reviewers mentioned they died when ER premiered and I waz sooooo used to shows doing a bait and switch with crap like that so I was genuinely surprised they were confirmed dead in Kingdom. Point still stands that there was 0 reason for Elita to stay. Having a generic Decepticon pull off the rescue attempts would have honestly been better as it wouldn't render Elita staying behind pointless and been more interesting in terms of someone rising againt someone they were loyal to
The War For Cybertron series seems to have missed the mark for every single point of storytelling. You don't always need to tell the story people want to hear, or see. You don't always need to tell a story that fits a specific theme. But you do need to write a story, a narrative, that someone can say "Yeah, I learned something from that, I can take away something from that". The G1 Cartoon was bad, with only a few standout episodes, but many fans have a (to be honest, a bit toxic) nostalgia for it, same with Beast Wars. But at least there were points where the stories they told were able to be considered interesting. This does the worst sin a story can be, which is to not just be boring, but borderline uninteresting. Who is it for? It doesn't feel like the studios involved nailed down an audience, because adults aren't going to care about toy-focused scenes, while children aren't going to care for long thematic diatribes. It feels like they tried to write this serious, edgy story, but had no clue how to actually do that. The one thing I've learned as a writer is to jog, not run, especially in a genre and story structure you're unfamiliar with. You look at other people's stories and take inspiration from them. But this just copies all of the worst modern storytelling tropes and throws it into a budget of literally nothing, complete with voice actors that are unfairly thrown into a situation they're not ready for. I don't blame the VOs for their performance, and I hope this doesn't tank their careers, but this is just sad. The sheer amount of disregard the production team had not only for their audience but for the people working on this is just disgusting. The voice direction, the story direction, it's all so off the mark that I can't even call it direction. It just feels so corporate and hollow. it's not bad, or horrible. It's pathetic. It felt like whatever concepts they had, especially with the toyline, weren't used for any sort of potential. Earthrise has, if I remember correctly, f*ck all to do with Earth, and Kingdom being in the Beast Era feels like it needed to be longer because of the sheer amount of content that could be done with that. But, hey, at least some people got some good toys out of this, and I'm happy that they did.
I really want to point out because it feels like either no one wants to talk about it or just hasn’t noticed it the models in this show look fucking awful they are very clearly ripped from the actual toy designs nemesis primes back looks fucking weird and the shot with galvatrons back turned his arm joints are visible and look weak af in the show not only are they more exceptionally blocky (fuck even the G1 cartoon made the designs more sloped) the battle damage looks like shit too
ok, coming from someone who really liked siege: earthrise was already a step into the wrong direction. but kingdom is truly the worst. as you said, kingdom makes the two previous seasons irrelevant with its final episode. with elita recognizing optimus' actions, all the conflict leading up to this point basically turns into: "eh, it doesnt matter, we're all good" best wishes have a good day!
Same here. I liked Seige, not way near my fav, and I was worried at how it seemed to just appeal to fans. But it all went down hill from that. I disagree with Dr. lockdown. I think there is love for the franchise in the show, but heavily misdirected. They wanted to bring to many ideas and it all looks like someone just throw them to see what stuck, with no real plan in mind.
I think honestly with more time, and people that were less incompetent, this series and trilogy could’ve been amazing. Instead we got everything shoehorned at us with nothing more than a rushed fan project (not to bash on other fan projects) with abysmal voice acting and even worse story Arks (Pun intended) Hell I’m pretty sure any of us could’ve made something better Tbh.
I understood that last Elita scene not as "throwing the allspark was the only choice" but as "giving megatron the matrix was the only choice" but damn I think it might just be what you said I loved the concept of Galvatron and Nemesis being distopian versions from the future, I was expecting them to be defeated by their counterparts, making it clear they would never take that route, and was dissapointed how they were defeated by some weird ass magic, and in the end megatron is like, "yeah I learned nothing" But it's weird how they wanted the Allspark to destroy Unicron, couldn't they just use the Matrix? Also Nemesis knew Bumblebee had the Allspark but he kept asking Optimus for it lmaoooo And what were Starscream and Blackarachnia doing with the decepticons at the end?????
How to make this show actually pretty good: Pretend that Prime Wars had a good animated series Pretend that the reason Overlord was able to corrupt Roddy was because HE was already corrupted by Unicron himself. Then, pretend that the hood guys lost in PoTP, and the universe got reset Now, pretend that Prime Wars was reset from the Aligned continuity, and [insert sad ending here for RID2015] caused it. Now, it’s a sad reset loop, where the villains win, and either destroy the world themselves, or can only be beaten by a universal reset. And the good end? What happens if the heroes win? IDW. Now, none of this is true. No matter what Hasbro says, this is not true. It’s just my sad, Legacy-Arcee-loving mind trying to make up a story to satisfy itself. But I’m gonna look back on this theory fondly and pretend it was possible. The toys were great, the ads were kind of shit. At least… I don’t have a qualifier for this series. Fuck you, whatshisface. Can’t even be bothered to give Elita a spotlight, so I won’t be bothered to remember his name.
I love how everyone freaks out about all the characters being dead but they forget about the huge explosion at the arena that literally ALL the characters were stuck in by the end of Earthrise
Ding dong I think you are wrong, but hey, like what you want. Everyone has their opinion. Ours clash. That's fine. That's not all I have to say, but enough of what I have to say.
I had hope that kingdom would steer its ass into going into the direction we all needed but with this episode, I couldn't agree more that this is possibly the worst transformers show to even exist
I was watching kingdom a week ago and got halfway through episode 3, I went to do something and then started watching something else and completely forgot about kingdom, the next day I remembered kingdom and thought about all the other existing pieces of content out there I have not watched and then put on the first episode of beast wars. Its been a week and I still haven't got through episode 3
I kinda get this due to me thinking "Jetfire is alive because he can fly" but when I saw Kingdom I was like face palmed with my hand saying "So, all this hype of having Jetfire and Shockwave results to this?! It's absurd since Shockwave was never seen when the Bomb timer runs down meaning he could've gotten away Right? NO! Instead they say Jetfire died because of an explosion. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! ALL THEY DO IS JUST BLOW THE ARENA UP IN EARTHRISE PERIOD AND NOT EVEN LET EITHER JETFIRE OR SHOCKWAVE AS WELL AS BOTH TO LIVE AND THEY CHOSE NONE?! I really think The cartoon is pushing his luck with me because I was ALMOST in the brink of quitting until I realized this is the last chapter which calmed me down.
Exactly what I've been saying. It's not made for long time fans because it is a watered down soup of better ideas we liked more before, and it's not made for new fans because unless you know who and what everything is, none of it will resonate or even make sense. And I am that guy who fell asleep in episode 2. Just in it for the toys really.
you guys remember how good late IDW stories That was because it was made by fans everybody involved loved and grew up transformers and it was the absolute shit nothing will ever come close
In my opinion the last season was more fun to watch. I the voice actors grew on me. The maximal voice actors were fine. Predicons was okay beside Megatron. It honestly build up nemesis prime pretty well by showing how afraid the maximals were. But I won't lie it didn't stay consistent. The maximals one moment try and kill the autobots because they are afraid and the other moment they are like let's hug bro. Big f
@@magnolia549there is nothing wrong with a fine or okay movie or serie. I personally liked it kinda. And others did too. Poeple are allowed to have different opinions
The more I think about this trilogy the more I think this trilogy FUCKING BLOWS. Now the question is if this trilogy challenges writer incompetence against prime wars. I'm salty that the best characters except black Arachinia got shat on
Honest to god I was expecting the series to end with the autobot and deceptions finding some way to travel back in time after getting the all spark so Prime could correct the choice he made in siege thus preventing this dark future that Kingdom “showed” with big potation marks around showed. But nope instead of that the series wants to have all it’s toys for if god help us the series wants to make a part 4 with Unicron. Like I can’t tell you how mad they did Beast Megatron dirty which is going to be my forever sticking point with this show as much as it is I really don’t care for this Optimus prime thank zombie Chris we got the ongoing Beast wars comic which has some true love for its source material
There are a few things from this show that should be adapted into a better Continuity (especially on the big screen). -Nemesis Prime and Galvatron being Heralds of Unicron from a dystopian future. -Unicron being slowly built up to. -Starscream having visions/contact with Unicron and going slowly insane as he tries to warn others of their demise. -a dead cybertron that is pretty much uninhabitable (visibly). Ps. I know a few of the things that I mentioned have been in other continuities such as a G1 Marvel Comic. I just want to see these awesome ideas in live action so badly.
I hated how in Earthrise, everyone on cybertron got killed off by an accident. I really liked Jetfire and Red Alert was too innocent to die. I have no idea how Spinister returned in earthrise. He got stabbed in the chest in seige
i have so much negative stuff to say about that series it would take a novel. So instead i will just say that transformers wfc gets a -5 out of a possible 10. Meaning that that series now owes me five stars.
@@JohnWilliams-wl9px I’d argue otherwise because Megatron in Prime Wars was the saving grace. “So we go in, kill everyone, grab the Enigma and call it a day?”. I can’t say the same for WFC Megs because the writing and performance is so bland.
12:32 "You don't hate what you're working on" Tell that to Daniel Craig with the James Bond films, or any actor who's put into a film they hate. Or better yet any employee that hates the job they work at but can't leave because they can't find a better job and are stuck with their shit one.
Man, I had high hopes for the trilogy. Y'know, the issues with story, fight choreography, character depth, and all that jazz How about we talk about how Hasbro tossed Peter Cullen (classic optimus prime voice) and Frank Welker (classic Megatron voice) to the dust?
WFC is just so… baffling. IDW's shown Transformers can have excellent storytelling with deep character development and engaging stories. She-Ra and the new MOTU prove that Netflix is absolutely able to make interesting new takes on old franchises, breathing life into them. They had 18 episodes, and even providing they probably had a quota of new toys/characters to include in each episode/series I gotta believe they could've done better than this.
SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS THE CLONE WARS but I just got a thought about this. The difference with Elita 1 ghost to Optimus and the death of Dutchess Satine. We got to see Obi-wan and Satine interact with one another, both positive and negative. While all we see for Elita and Optimus is 1 heart felt conversation and a few jestures, and the rest of their interactions is them arguing over the plan for Cybertron, overall they did the bare minimum, when they could have done so much more. One thing on the top of my head have Optimus, Instead of him worrying about dooming Cybertron every episode after siege, Idk maybe caring if he sees the love of his life again and then at least you have a sense that he truly cared for her. Obi-wan showed through actions that he truly cared for Satine, like going solo to save her or security detail for her, etc. Bottom line the always love you moment for Optimus now because people in the comments brought up, it is really unearned. I say strip that ghost Elita moment and give it to TFA Optimus or TFP Optimus, because they probably deserve it more than this Optimus. Especially TFA because it has the greatest Elita arc in transformers.
😂 the line where megatron says there’s only two of them and we’re still outnumbered, that’s when I first thought make sense but rewatched it now it’s now fucking funny because like megatron there’s only two of them and you have like 25 people to destroy them so I don’t know why he said.
besides the shit writer, Transformers really does need something that isn't "G1, but again" to get New viewership. The Unicron Trilogy was this in the early 2000s. Bayverse and Animated was this in the late 2000s. Prime was this for the early 2010s. Cyberverse is this now. This show? it tries to appeal to G1ers, but fails to do so because of the writer's contempt for the fans. it tries to tell its own story for newcomers and fails to do so, because it's too beholden to G1/BW to do anything really original. War for Cybertron was an abject failure with a Decent-to-Great toyline. Cyberverse is the opposite. a Decent-to-Great show with an abject failure of a toyline.
12:32 "you do not hate what you working on" bruh thats kinda a thing with show with giant robot. Literally Yoshiyuki Tomino during victory gundam and Hideaki Anno with evangelion (I think he hates it after he made it not during the show creation)
If the voices sounded like the original character's from the original beast wars I would have given this show a past....Exspet most off the toy's didn't shoe up and unicron didn't even Transfom and also some off the writing in this trilogy has be Strait up cringe😒Good news watching this video I found out were getting more Transfomers animated🤣🤟
I watched all of Transformers Cyberverse front to back. It’s a good show, but the toys aren’t for me. Had it been on TV back in 2010 I’d be all over it and buying up those toys! But I just don’t want toys that feel like they’ll melt in my hands like chocolate. The audience for good Transformers shows is there. The consumer base for good toys is there. But Hasbro’s issue at this moment is getting those two to line up. I agree that the current lead writer needs to be ousted. This trilogy has run its course. Hasbro, Allspark, please make something that will be good, stylized, and have good toys to boot.
@@DrLockdown So like, what’re the differences between Megatron’ fall into insanity and that clip of that dude from the dragon price you showed? I’ve always been sort of interested in this stuff but I have shit luck when it comes understanding a lot of more nuanced things
Me before Kingdom: Maybe Rodimus comes out of nowhere and destroys Galvatron and Nemesis Prime. Me after Kingdom: I would've rather Rodimus Prime come out of nowhere and destroy Galvatron and Nemesis Prime.
In 18 episodes they could have easily told a compelling story, they could have won over new fans, but it was never about that. To be honest I can’t really tell what it is about, whatever it is it’s definitely not story though.
It started out with so much promise. Then Earthrise just yeeted that promise through a space bridge and it landed on Junkion. Kingdom was just an ad for knew beast wars toys & a Nemisis prime.
Yeah, that scene sucks, but this show was so boring it hardly even registers in my brain as having happened. When I think of modern Transformers media, I think Cyberverse, then nothing, and then Earthspark
To be honest my biggest fear for the transformers franchise and fandom is that casual audiences who love their bay-splosion and bay-hem wanted only one version of transformers which is real life blockbuster action movies. It's not that what talked about here is nothing to worried about but, I was thinking that the casual audiences who love bay-splosion and bay-hem will reject the upcoming theatrical release animated transformers movie because of their mindset of thinking cartoons are only for kids and wanted transformers to be nothing more than an explosive blockbuster action movie.
I’m surprised you didn’t rant about how they turned Beast Wars Megatron into a simp. Besides Jake Foushee’s Optimus Prime, Beast Wars Megs is also an insult to the character.
Fans? I only started watching yt clips last week. And that was kingdom only. I think I rather watch that 15 minute complication of. Machinema megatron being sassy
I was so hopeful for the updated CGI for beast wars but the fact they did it with the WFC trilogy pissed me off. Shoulda done it's own spinoff/reboot, cause Beast Wars was really good
The comics are an interesting take on beast wars. Read the first three issues. Some of the plot points pop up a bit early, but everything else works really well
I might. The trilogy pissed me off with the weird flexing torsos and abysmal voice work. Although Blackarachnia wasn't bad. Captured the spirit of the character
I liked this chapter honestly, with the addition of a few flaws that are probably different from everyone else, but I agree with the final scene with Elita's ghost, it felt rushed and everything that the show was hyping you up for felt wasted. Nemesis never really had a contribution to the story other than showing up and kicking everyones ass.
My opinions on the three Transformers War for Cybertron shows. Transformers War for Cybertron: Very so-so, it did have its moments here-and-there, but all in all, it was just kind of boring with not much happing, and also not use to hearing Optimus Prime and Megatron's new voices, but it did grow on me after a bit. Transformers War for Cybertron Earthrising: Somewhat a step-up from the previous instalments, I like the Scroponok battle, but not the fan of the Elita-1 Segments, especially how they ended her arc in a rather bitter-way. Transformers War for Cybertron Kingdom: This is easily the best of the War for Cybertron Trilogy, and no I'm not joking, it IS the best one, much better story, like the call backs to the original Beast Wars: Transformers, has way more epic and intense moments that got me on the edge of my seat, and was overall very enjoyable, yeah I will adment that they did dirty with Elita-1 and co., but all-in-all, it was a good show, and the series finale was a great conclusion to the Trilogy. Overall, the Transformers War for Cybtertron Trilogy is a bit of a mix-bag, I wouldn't call it bad as many people though it would be, but its definitely NOT one of the worst Transformers shows to ever be made.
If anything, I'd rather check out other TF media than rewatch this trilogy because they at least deliver on something. If I want good character chemistry, I'd rather watch BW. If I want something dark, I'd rather watch TFP or read Last Stand of the Wreckers. If I want action, I'd rather watch the Bay movies. If I want something fun, I'd rather watch RB or Cyberverse.
Ending didn't piss me off, i just felt nothing. There are G1 episodes I'll watch before i watch that finale again. But yeah, Elita one was the best and she should've been the leader of the autobots in this continuity. Straight up. This prime was just such a bitch. And they properly butchered their own Megatron in kingdom bc villians gotta Villian i guess? Not allowing us to spend time with the real villians, who were Nemisis prime & Galvatron. I knew when i saw him in earthrise that was a bad sign.
OMG I had no Idea that the guy who wrote that god awful comic wrote Kingdom that explains why Rodimus wasn't in it the dude hates the character get that guy out of Transformers
Brandon Easton didn't write Kingdom actually. It's mostly Tim Sheridan & Mae Catt who wrote the episodes for Kingdom & Easton only wrote Episodes 4, 5, & 6 of Siege. It's kinda simple research.
12:00 Funny...this same rant can be applied to TLJ, TLOU2, and the like because of everything you complained about here. The whole thing between the jump from the end of Elita's story to them...being ghosts? All it summed up is that, "you shouldn't have cared about that subplot at all because THEY ALL DIED! THE END!" It's such a big middle finger, it's funny how blatant it was. Maybe we can get people to work on Transformers who actually LIKES Transformers...I'll at least give Bay this, him recreating the designs to be more mechanical was a good idea, Megatron not being a gun was a good call, even if lot of other stuff he got so wrong.
I doubt Hasbro would miss out on a chance to make a show for Legacy. But if they are going to do that, don't bring back Desanto and the other people behind WFC.
Ok, I personally liked the rest of Kingdom, but I 100% agree with your choice for the worst scene. After letting it sink in, that one scene made everything else very underwhelming, which sucks because I LOVE some of the concepts here, mostly with Unicron.
Have you watched RodimusPrimal's interview with FJ Desanto? Cause I don't always believe the idea that the people behind the scenes hate transformers. There are clearly writers that do love this franchise. When they talk about the decisions behind the writing I find they are being genuine. Especially since no one ever wants to go out of their way to make a bad product. It's just the execution was very poor, inept, and not something every fan will agree with.
I have not. I'll give it a watch later. Also at the time I wasn't aware that Easton jumped ship. I do believe he has a vendetta against the franchise, but maybe not the other writers
It's more so that their writing decisions come off as a cringy "true fan" writing than just outright hating Transformers. These people didn't make this show to be a different literation, but instead they genuinely believe their poorly written edgy take of G1 is "definitive transformers" It's purely why they're delusional in thinking "Yeah, this is what the true fans want."
Glad I stopped watching it LOL I was watching the first episode and I was like oh neat this looks cool but when Optimus yells and I mean yells "WE ARE NOT THE DECEPTICONS." I was shocked and then I stopped watching it cause it felt weird
It has come to my attention that I dun goofed. Brandon Easton bailed before kingdom started. My apologies.
Ultimately my opinion remains the same though. The subtext is still insulting in my eyes. Sorry though.
so someone with a vendetta against transformers fans was replaced by someone with enough hate for the fans to put the whole red lantern corp to shame
The best part of the war for cybertron trilogy is the toy-line
@@spartanvenom5388 that was the plan all along
Good for him honestly. If you hate a project you’re working on so much you let your contempt show through the story itself you should honestly ditch it and go work on something you enjoy and that makes you happy instead
This honestly felt closer to cyberverse in terms of pace and writing. Voice acting could be better but you can tel Jake Foushee had a lot better time here. While I wish he went full on cyberverse anything is better than nothing.
“Transformers: War For Cybertron Trilogy is the biggest disappointment since my son.”
In all seriousness though, this show did Predacon Megatron dirty.
@@johnl6192 OG Predatron had high respect for OG Megs, not full on up his ass with praise.
But what's worse the war for Cybertron Trilogy for the Machinima trilogy
I'd have to re-watch it, but ultimately I'd rather watch a dumpster fire like that than sit through the mediocrity of the Netflix trilogy again
Elita made it worse
I feel like one of the only parts I liked was Megatron's "I am a weapon" moment and Starscream's "I can fly" scene. Sad that such badass momemts came from... This.
Starscream getting a one up on Megatron like that was pretty cool
"I can fly" was written by Mae Catt, who they brought in for half the Kingdom episodes. You can tell their episodes because they're the ones that had actual character interactions instead of leaning on macguffins and speeches.
I loved when Prime finally broke down when he found Elita’s corpse
It just blows my mind that people can openly praise this garbage as the best Cybertron story since the WFC/FOC games
This trilogy honestly makes the unicron trilogy seem idw level
It makes Armada alone a masterpiece
@@chaospxl_ honestly that is the comparison i keep coming back to, i watched the first season and all i could think time and time again while watching it was 'Armada was not amazing and nostalgia but in comparison why does this feel so lifeless, why is their no energy, why does nothing about this feel alive or passionate, i literally remember nothing from my time watching it. When even Energon feels more justified then and better then this netflix stuff you gotta wonder what was going on'
Bleh if nothing else we got some good 80s Movie Figures out of this, between a decent Kup, a decent Hot Rod, a Amazing Rodimus, a Perfect Cyclonus, and a Pretty Good Galvatron, give me a decent Springer in this set and ill be happy.
idw wasn't that good

16:05 "This show hasnt reached an audience outside the fandom"
Hell it hasnt reached people in the fandom, I've been here since 2012 and I've skipped the show entirely other than watching bad memes about the show
Same. Ever since I heard about the Allspark plot I set out to ignore the trilogy. I knew where it was going before Siege was out.
Blame Hasbro for wanting that aligned continuity. Aka they wanted the story premise to be similar to Cyberverse with the whole Allspark story. According to FJ Desanto in RodimusPrimal's interview with him.
The only thing good about this series, is the figures it produced, like, 95% of them, Arcee with her stupid car backpack not included
THEY HAVE SUCH A WHOLESOME DYNAMIC!!!)
I may not know what I'm doing, BUT NOBODY CAN STOP ME!!
@@FireFury190 Well let me rephrase - I knew this story was going to be bland because it focused on a macguffin and not events that led to the war and how it impacted the characters.
The thing that got me the most is Dinobot dying;
It was pulling on my nostalgia for the character, but the moment it was over you start to think "this is not earned at all".
After Dinobot died the season took a nose dive.
There's one thing I don't see many people saying: That one scene of the allucinations, sideswipe mentions sunstreaker but no sunstreaker seen, they cheaped out and gave sunstreaker no 3d model
Or even retexture Sideswipe. Like not even a whole day's job
@@armorhide406 or even just an image

"Yes, they DID just do that."
-This kind of sums up why, in the Discord, I keep going on about Elita as a character.
The two segments after that
-Even if this wasn't Easton's work anymore, it clearly was done by someone who thought along the same lines.
Other points:
- It's the voice direction and recharacterization that hurts the otherwise legit and interesting idea that BW Megs' goal here is to ensure the success of the original Megs. Everything else about him didn't need to change. He could still have the same character while being loyal to OG Megatron.
- This really did feel more like a toy commercial than others, and it STILL failed at that.
I think that's all for now, and as condensed as I can make this
Oh....
Oh no.
Oh my GOD, NO!! THEY MADE OPTIMUS PRIME A MARY SUE!!!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!
@@caseysshenanigans708 I did NOT want to say that was the case, but the more I think about it, the more I realized there is no other term for it, since he's just magically absolved of all consequences
I absolutely agree with the favoritism part. 🦾💯
The show is a reminder that the council used to have the enigma of combination and would've build an army of combiners.
It would’ve been better if Galvatron and Nemesis Prime were interdimensional conquerers and the maximals travel back in time to get help from the Autobots instead of this.
That's the problem. This was not made by people who care
When it comes to Elita and the rest dying, we did see proof of their deaths when Optimus and Bumblebee were travelling to the temple. They came upon her body lying in the snow, arm outstretched. As for the point someone else in the comments made, asking about what happened to the 'bots and 'cons in the infirmary, they likely eventually died due to lack of able bots to treat them and lack of energon anywhere on the planet (or they could've been the ones that helped make the Maximals and Predacons along with any other stragglers left on Cybertron, who knows?)
Also, in that final Deus Ex Machina scene, I noticed that Shockwave was nowhere to be seen among the sparks of the fallen, despite Skywarp and probably Scrapface being there...
After all, this Shockwave was absolutely the most evil character in the show (Unicron doesn’t count since he had five seconds of screen time)
Remember Sunstreaker. He died in WFC. He won't see him again
But in Kingdom:
Sideswipe is looking his brother
Jetfire and the others did NOT die off screen. They were simply blown to high hell in earthrise episode 6 when the bombs detonated.
Still doesn't change the fact that their deaths rendered that side plot completely pointless
But they cut off the plot ass soon as the bombs went off, they didn't give us any possible clarification that they were permanently dead, so their deaths were still up for interpretation until kingdom
@@Thechaosprime I agree. It took until someone else pointed it out for me to realize
@@Thechaosprime Reviewers mentioned they died when ER premiered and I waz sooooo used to shows doing a bait and switch with crap like that so I was genuinely surprised they were confirmed dead in Kingdom. Point still stands that there was 0 reason for Elita to stay. Having a generic Decepticon pull off the rescue attempts would have honestly been better as it wouldn't render Elita staying behind pointless and been more interesting in terms of someone rising againt someone they were loyal to
We only saw chromia get hit tho. Also anyone hate how they introduced moon racer only for her to die minutes later
This. This right here is exactly how I feel man.
I really want to point out because it feels like either no one wants to talk about it or just hasn’t noticed it the models in this show look fucking awful they are very clearly ripped from the actual toy designs nemesis primes back looks fucking weird and the shot with galvatrons back turned his arm joints are visible and look weak af in the show not only are they more exceptionally blocky (fuck even the G1 cartoon made the designs more sloped) the battle damage looks like shit too

ok, coming from someone who really liked siege:
earthrise was already a step into the wrong direction. but kingdom is truly the worst. as you said, kingdom makes the two previous seasons irrelevant with its final episode. with elita recognizing optimus' actions, all the conflict leading up to this point basically turns into: "eh, it doesnt matter, we're all good"
best wishes have a good day!
Instead we got everything shoehorned at us with nothing more than a rushed fan project (not to bash on other fan projects) with abysmal voice acting and even worse story Arks (Pun intended)
Hell I’m pretty sure any of us could’ve made something better Tbh.
Yeah I've seen fan projects better than this
I understood that last Elita scene not as "throwing the allspark was the only choice" but as "giving megatron the matrix was the only choice" but damn I think it might just be what you said
I loved the concept of Galvatron and Nemesis being distopian versions from the future, I was expecting them to be defeated by their counterparts, making it clear they would never take that route, and was dissapointed how they were defeated by some weird ass magic, and in the end megatron is like, "yeah I learned nothing"
But it's weird how they wanted the Allspark to destroy Unicron, couldn't they just use the Matrix?
Also Nemesis knew Bumblebee had the Allspark but he kept asking Optimus for it lmaoooo
And what were Starscream and Blackarachnia doing with the decepticons at the end?????
How to make this show actually pretty good:
Pretend that Prime Wars had a good animated series
Pretend that the reason Overlord was able to corrupt Roddy was because HE was already corrupted by Unicron himself.
Then, pretend that the hood guys lost in PoTP, and the universe got reset
Now, pretend that Prime Wars was reset from the Aligned continuity, and [insert sad ending here for RID2015] caused it.
At least…
I don’t have a qualifier for this series. Fuck you, whatshisface. Can’t even be bothered to give Elita a spotlight, so I won’t be bothered to remember his name.
This show makes Robots in Disguise (2015) look like a masterpiece
I love how everyone freaks out about all the characters being dead but they forget about the huge explosion at the arena that literally ALL the characters were stuck in by the end of Earthrise
it literally cuts before we see them die. its only chromia who we saw that actually got hit by it
Here is how I would rank each season of the War For Cybertron Trilogy.

14:27 I must say this was a very good analysis, but that freakout had me DYING 😂
14:28 You would voice starscream so fucking well omg
I hated how in Earthrise, everyone on cybertron got killed off by an accident. I really liked Jetfire and Red Alert was too innocent to die. I have no idea how Spinister returned in earthrise. He got stabbed in the chest in seige
i have so much negative stuff to say about that series it would take a novel. So instead i will just say that transformers wfc gets a -5 out of a possible 10. Meaning that that series now owes me five stars.

Prime Wars since it has worst voice acting was worst and animation was terrible.

How about we talk about how Hasbro tossed Peter Cullen (classic optimus prime voice) and Frank Welker (classic Megatron voice) to the dust?
I felt like dinobot and predacon megatron’s faces were too puffy and round
I’m also mad that Shockwave is left MIA yet again with no confirmation of his death.
😂 the line where megatron says there’s only two of them and we’re still outnumbered, that’s when I first thought make sense but rewatched it now it’s now fucking funny because like megatron there’s only two of them and you have like 25 people to destroy them so I don’t know why he said.
You really have a good point with the final Scene, i Will have a good long time thinking about it.
I screamed at my computer when Elita said she loved Prime and that he was right
besides the shit writer, Transformers really does need something that isn't "G1, but again" to get New viewership.
I am no TV enthusiast, but killing off All of the Cybertron Strike team without any context was stupid Lazy, I was pissed about that.
hey, can you do a review for the cyberverse finale??
Maybe one day. I have plans to, but there's barely any time to do it
@@DrLockdown Is okey. Do it when you feel is right. I just think it would be cool to know your opinion about it.
why dident jetfire transform to escape the explosion tho?
12:32 "you do not hate what you working on" bruh thats kinda a thing with show with giant robot. Literally Yoshiyuki Tomino during victory gundam and Hideaki Anno with evangelion (I think he hates it after he made it not during the show creation)
Then at least don't pour your hate into the show. Figure out a way to make the best of your situation
There not the only ones left all the other cons who didn’t go back for elita should be alive unless they traveled to the future
The show may have sucked but at least Dinobot had a cool voice
I haven’t seen the show but what shows or how do other shows do the whole “falling into insanity” thing better?
Clever writing and dreams that actually have metaphors
@@thediscracedone4932 That’s an insult to both Wreck-Gar and the Junkions
The show’s ending is basically a dhar man video
Hey atleast airazor is actually used unlike in og bw
oh jeez the guy who wrote that devations comic was part of writing this show that explains a lot
Yeah, that scene sucks, but this show was so boring it hardly even registers in my brain as having happened. When I think of modern Transformers media, I think Cyberverse, then nothing, and then Earthspark
I wonder whose idea was the illusion(?) Ultra Magnus doing the floating t-pose?
I just watched kingdom and i already don’t remember it
The one I thing I know about Kingdom is that everyone hates Beast Megatron’s voice. The Toy was badass tho.
I laughed my ass off when I saw that guy literally T pose/A pose (depends on your point of view) and start rising.
same, that scene was the only good thing about the show
I’m surprised you didn’t rant about how they turned Beast Wars Megatron into a simp. Besides Jake Foushee’s Optimus Prime, Beast Wars Megs is also an insult to the character.
at least we know Jake Foushee will thankfully never return to transformers after this.
This show made armada/energon ironhide and kicker jones look good
about what I expected from the people who make RWBY
That's all you see heh. Just bad writing in rwby. You probably never gave it a chance.
Well said
My boy Shockwave didn’t even had a scene in this season 😞
I would be at least fine if we had Tarantulas, maybe
Ending didn't piss me off, i just felt nothing. There are G1 episodes I'll watch before i watch that finale again. But yeah, Elita one was the best and she should've been the leader of the autobots in this continuity. Straight up. This prime was just such a bitch. And they properly butchered their own Megatron in kingdom bc villians gotta Villian i guess? Not allowing us to spend time with the real villians, who were Nemisis prime & Galvatron. I knew when i saw him in earthrise that was a bad sign.
This video reminds me a lot of me when I’m ranting about Netherrealm Studios and that fact alone makes me very happy.
The only way I got through this garbage (and only then barely) was by watching it on 1.5x speed to speed up some of the ponderous exposition.
I didn’t think anyone hated transformers as much as Michael bay, but then Brandon Eastman came in and socked us in the gut.
The difference is Eastman tried, Bay did not care.
Hey, to each their own.
I loved Kingdom, despite its flaws.
It was a mistake on my part and I apologize. Doesn't change the subtext in my eyes though
@@DrLockdown
okay thanks
@@DrLockdown No probs, man. We're all good & have our own thoughts on the thing.
13:32 bayformers in a nutshell :D
The only part of show don't tell kingdom has is episode 6 with cybertron in an ice age and optimus finding elita one dead
That was a genuinely good scene. I was originally going to talk about it, but it halted the video's pacing
Based on the post credit scene of Kingdom, it looks like we are getting a new show. Which in that case, WHY?!
Hope not. Hope it gets canned
