You know...it took me several viewings to get it. It's technically great, but my first reaction was that it mauled over one of my favorite musical portions of the orginal song--the ending refrain (th-cam.com/video/Kp7eSUU9oy8/w-d-xo.html ). I love how it builds and adds layers to what is honestly a pretty simple melody. After a few listens, I can enjoy how the solo here takes us on a trip, but eventually comes back to a familiar place. He takes it another step further, though, by going up an octave or so to really put a personal touch on it.
All the more reason to just quit your life and go on squeeze t00r! I always remember them telling me they learn so many songs together that they try never to play the same one twice in any one stop. #everylastdrop
Its effect comes mostly due to the sudden switch from the minor to the major scale. Notice that none of the instruments change chords, but the guitar introduces the major 3rd note (with is the note that characterizes the major scale). This sudden change creates that great ambience that you (and me also) felt.
@@IgorCostaMusic ayyy appreciate the explanation. Know nothing about theory, but I love the very unique feel that comes from what you described. Now I know how to recreate it hahah
Playing the drums and a xylophone and ole boy playing two keyboards... the solo... the control in his voice... these guys are legend and I'm sharing hard! Where are you guys and can we see you live?!
first i was blown away by the drummer playing the melody while keeping perfect time on the drums. then i was locked on the vocalist being an insane singer, performing a basically flawless performance. then finally that SICK guitar solo completely blew my mind. I'm a fan guys. thank you for your inspiration!
Super tight musicians, check out their version for Man in the Mirror (Michael Jackson) Their original music is amazing too. also, glad to see this video has tripled it's view count since i made this comment! (had around 50k)
Everybody gangsta with the guitar solo, but can we just appreciate that this is how you write a good and interesting bassline? So much better than the quarter note root note stuff that most generic music has
As a bassplayer I am blown away by this dude's basslines and I'm very eager to practice playing it and studying it to see if I can learn some stuff from him. To me, it sounds like he's originally a keys player and that he applies his knowledge and skills as a keys player to the bass, which sounds absolutely killer. Sounds truly new and refreshing to me

I’ve got to tell you, that your talent is supreme. Keep going and don’t stop until you hit the top. That’s your designated place of occupancy. God bless.
That guitar tone is amazing. Phrasing on point. The stars alligned that day. So i come back to this video once in a while. Just to experience it all over again.
That reharmonized chorus at the outro got me straight through the heart, my mind almost couldn't comprehend. And don't even get me started on the solo. If you're ever doing a master class I gotta see it. Insane phrasing, insane everything. 100/10.
I saw a bunch of comments about the guitar solo and got my hopes up really high and let me just say, it absolutely destroyed my expectations. Hell yeah.
I stumbled onto Redbone childish Gambino because it was used in the credits for the movie "Get Out" then as a long time fan of Main Squeeze searched this out and obviously without regret. Amazing!!
I found this song during the first month of the pandemic, when we were at home (at least in Spain). This song was with me all that time, I listened it hundred times, I was in love with the song. Now I'm listening It time to time and I'm returning to that days, when the Life stopped, when we were free at home. Thank you so much for this amazing cover. Peace.
Things I love about this: the organ pedal bass line; the lead singer's phenomenal vocals, groove, and phrasing; the unbelievable guitar solo; the comping on the organ by the keyboard player when the bass player switches to the bass and guitar solo starts; the groove of that drummer and the melody match on the xylophone; the bass line under the guitar solo... I think you get it.
What makes the solo incredible is not even the quality of what's being played (wich is incredible), but the feel on the player. Well done dude, well done!
That was a killer guitar solo. i kept thinking he was going t resolve it and it just kept going. The drummer was playing the phone, the dude goes from keys to the bass, the other key player starts playing both keys. Singer is great! Amazing job guys.
Crazy solo ! Such a unique combination of techniques, scales and emotions. I've never seen anything like that. After looping it for hours I decided to include it in my top 20 best solos of all time list. Pure genious !

truly epic voice

cause the vocalist doesn't get a 3, three minute solo
This band honestly deserves a better vocalist althought he isnt that bad either. Cudve been better still.

i don't know if thats falsetto or just part of his normal range lol
ridiculously good either way
Its so fucking good! Love the combination of techniques. he really served the song
He doesn't go falsetto once the whole song.
Thats the best solo ive seen in a while. A strong musical statement without being over the top. Very well done
Sorry to say but then you haven't heard any good solos to begin with, it's kinda sloppy and all over the place.

I mean no disrespect to Santana, but Max Newman is above his pay grade.
Also some soul of course

I heard Santana, too! Man, what a player....the solo is a song unto itself.
