Honestly I love that Max played that solo lick for lick. The original solo is just so iconic that it is almost a part of the song. You don't always need to improvise a solo!!
I LOVE how you all had an understanding to leave the solo almost completely untouched. Like it's a perfect gem in history that can't be altered by anyone who covers it. Kudos, guys. That was easily the best cover I've seen of this song
I hope they DO some more songs rather than just covers .. with that bongos they could have done something good.. hate that good bands doesn't focus more on original songs.. they are lost
@@linux4868 lol you don't listen to Main Squeen don't you? Check on their discography. They have tons of great original songs. The Main Squeeze was my top Spotify artists last year. All I heard from them is their original songs . The covers is just their TH-cam thing. They do have their own materials and albums.
@@bentleymusic03 they mention the year 1969 in the lyrics but that was only 7 years away from the year they wrote it so it wasn't that far away. But as the years go by, the reference to 1969 becomes more and more dated, making the "hotel california" seem a lot more magical and eternal
Wow, amazing performance. Every sound in its place, every instrument in its place. How beautiful it is that they took the song to a completely different place, gave their interpretation
Hotel California is one of those songs that just shouldn't be covered by anybody. That is what I thought until I watched this. Straight up magic, right down to the congas. Even the backup vocals were amazing.
This guitarist is freakin great in a classic rock register. So much taste, rythm, respiration, not even mentioning technical abilities and humanity ... I'm jealous, really. Would love to see him in a pure blues cover, and you guys too !
Next to Have a Cigar, one of your best. Drummer was on fire and I wish you'd get him out front. Most true-to-form guitar solo I'd ever heard. Just awesome... thanks!
This is great!!! I’m a big Eagles fan and they did great justice to a classic while giving it their own spin at the same time. And the solo? Note for note perfection and respect for one of the greatest solos of all time! Love it!!!
This song is a very beautiful song, one of my loved ones passed away a couple years ago and this was his favorite song. I loved the vocals and so would my grandfather.
Brilliant to arrange Hotel California in reggae style! Great rendition of the solo too, and love the bass under the solo too. And then that duet with the keyboard. Fantastic!
The whole video is such a pleasant trip: beautiful creative yet faithful rendition of one of the best songs and guitar solos ever. Really well done all !
The joy on Max’s face while he’s playing the iconic Walsh/Felder solos is infectious! Those epic licks are as essential to that song as the lyrics, and he brings his own soul and technique to reproducing them. 🎸🎸🎸
WOW!!! Fantastic mix of putting your own spin on it and keeping to the original. I could watch the dual solo at the end all day. You guys are phenomenal!
"You can improvise whatever You want, but You must respect the Original" Thanks for the hard work, for the things that not everybody can understand. Beautiful & Brilliant.
Man you guys are awesome. I’ve heard this song soooo many times that I got burned out on it. Now I love it again. It’s like I’m hearing it for the first time all over. Great cover Great talent.
Holy Smokes. This whole band is amazing, but that guitar player... I was heavily anticipating how he would respect the original but put his twist on the famous guitar solo. He did not disappoint
What a wonderful cover, this picked me right up in the worst of times, as my family and I all have the C19 delta and this is just what we need to help cheer us up. Thank you so much for the wonderful cover
POV: you’re in a tiki bar at 10 pm, your friends have gone home and the bar is almost empty, and you’ve downed 2 Long Island iced teas, and 3 zombies, then, right at the peak of your alcohol induced depression, this song comes on, and you’re reduced to nothing more than tears, alcohol, and repressed memories.
I was just a chid when this came out, I was actually in California visiting visiting relatives, my aunt was talking to my mom about how good the eagles are, AND THEN BAM!!!! MY AUNT PUT THIS SONG ON, USING AN ACTUAL RECORD PLAYER, WICH SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER IN MY OPINION,,ANY WAY IT WAS AWESOME

This is a great rendition, the musicians are a class act & the voice is just sublime! I can't help but say that the original still has a special place in my heart.
My god that was perfect!!! I found myself for the first few minutes how can you nail that solo with just one guitarist? Oh the Moog showed up! Splendid!
The Main Squeeze is a kind of "legit" group so I wouldn't be surprised if they got it cleared by the Eagles' label before doing it. Covers are legal and even monetizable with permission from the copyright holder.
The camera pan to Chris always makes me think of the Chris hanson memes, instead of "take a seat right there" I feel like Chris is gonna say "you ready for that hot fire, sit on down."

Yep. There would be no point in doing a wonder wall cover and improvising the lyrics
Don Henley brilliance.
@@squeakeththewheel nice pfp
its important to note that he was playing three different guitarists' solos, too
@@TrueMeridian well, not to be pedantic, but really just Joe Walsh and Don Felder. Glen Frye was rhythm.
I have heard this solo played by many guitarists. Not sure I’ve ever heard it played so crisp and precise. It is by all accounts, flawlessly played.
I just came here from watching the live performance from 1977. And damn, where's the lie? So clean!
The first 4 seconds sound like an intro to "My heart will go on" :D
To be fair they could do a good cover of that too 😆😁😆

Big thumbs up to the engineer! I don't know how you can get a sound this good from a room that is essentially an aquarium. And hardly a mic in sight.

The keyboardist playing the organ chords with his left hand and the solo harmony part with his right hand was awesome!
The 1969 line meant 7 years ago when this song came out. It makes the place seem more eternal as time goes on.
Yeah I always think about that!
My train of thought exactly.
