Very good description of a trip to Lamu. For those traveling by road/rail, fare from Mombasa to Malindi is 300-450 by shuttle, if you pick one from Msa town (Buxton). Accommodation in Malindi - on a budget - doesn't get much better than Breeze Point, you get Wi-Fi/Pool/Bar/parking/DSTV etc in addition to clean rooms for 800 onwards 🤷♂️. Anyway, just to clarify, the speedy shuttles take about 4.5-5hrs to Mokowe jetty (mwisho wa barabara). It's bound to reduce though, as the road is currently being upgraded. IMO it's a worthwhile option for the adventurous and especially if one wants to "sightsee" the landscape and the various wildlife along the way (Giraffe, Bongo, Burukenge, Leopard, Lion(rare) etc are plenty). Travel by road is a risk however there haven't been any reported insecurity issues in the last year plus.
There are 4 direct bus companies(Buscar, Simba,Tawakal etc) from Nairobi to Lamu everyday @ 2000 ksh. The bus departs at 6am and arrives 5pm the same day. The bus passes through Thika-Mwingi-Garissa-Bula-Garsen-Witu-Mpeketoni(680km). It's very safe to anyone traveling to Lamu.
Inter-county sgr is not 8 hours i think that's an exaggeration kidogo. Ni 5 hrs. However, 700 from sgr to Malindi is on the higher side though i understand one might not know their way around from Miritini to town plus saving on time pia. From town to Malindi is around 300. Also, flights from Malindi to Lamu are cheap around 2,500. Last time i checked. Anyway good video and thanks for sharing girl. Really enjoyed it.
I love u coz ur doing all this with ur own coin... Such an inspiration to our young girls who think sponsors are everything.. Ur very authentic.. And could u please do a travel vlog to other countries..pliz..no pressure though
Peponi bar, if you're in Shella side. In Lamu main island the place to be is Petley's. Cheap drinks? Go to Police canteen. If you feel adventurous you can check out Floating Bar which is popular with tourists. As the name suggests it's a "boat" literally floating out in the Channel...

Thanks for watching 😘
Really nice and educative.
How much is a guide charging?
There are many guides on the beach each with their own charges depending on how many you are and I mentioned how much we were charged in the video.
how about the nightlife? any spot i should check out?
Peponi's Bar is the only place to grab a drink at night. Otherwise, Shela is pretty quiet, nightlife wise.
@@JeanWandimi okay, thank you
