I’m confused. You’re talking about carb issues in the comments and you replaced the carb, but it seemed like you were saying the thermal choke sensor was the issue just before you mounted the carb. The thermal is dead easy to replace but you didn’t do that.
If I had to guess from what I saw, I’d say it might have been the clogged pilot jet was the culprit.

What I said in the video was the thermal choke was working just fine, as soon as it turned off the choke it didn't have enough fuel to keep running. That's why it would always run good for him for about a minute or so and then die out. This is my neighbors Machine and he had gone through this carb several times himself and was convinced that it could not be cleaned/saved and so he just wanted to throw a new carb on it so I wasn't going to fight him 👍🏻

Oh, okay. I just misheard one small part of that. Got it! 👍

Excellent job! Hester do you use OEM carbs or aftermarket. Are they pricy? Great stuff as always. 😃👍

It depends on the piece of equipment honestly. I have had great luck with certain aftermarket carburetor brands, such as HIPA, (which is what this carb is). outside of that I always give people the option of OEM versus aftermarket. I have paid upwards of $175 for a Honda carburetor versus $40 for this one which I have used several times in the past and have had no issues👍🏻

Good job. Question: do you think the old carb could have been made to work with a good cleaning?

It’s hard to say. He had previously tried cleaning it for the same issue and it came back. However he doesn’t have an ultrasonic cleaner like I do. I plan on cleaning and rebuilding it the next time I’m doing another carb and throwing it in the “plausibly good” drawer until I can test it on another machine 👍🏻

I try to kit the oem carbs first and I never throw them away
Just tag and label them for winter work
