These things are iconic in Australia. I think in 40 years, these will have a position the Plymouth Roadrunner holds now: not famous or worshipped like the Charger or Mustang, but fondly remembered.
If you're not doing a quick slide from the clutch into doing a brakejob in the Hungry Jacks drivethru then you're not a real Australian. Also Yallah HJ is best HJ.
Be happy you drove in Pittsburgh during non-rush hour traffic. Trying to get anywhere during morning and evening rush hour is a nightmare in all directions.
True. Not to mention the salt that rusts out your body, the potholes that destroy your suspension, and the hills that ruin your brakes and transmission. Other than that, driving in Pittsburgh is great. Lol
I learned to drive in Pittsburgh. This was nearly my exact daily drive for many years. I view Pittsburgh as training wheels for Europe. It's easily one of the most confusing driving cities in the US which means if you can handle yourself there, every other city is fairly easy. Every interchange is unique, every bridge is it's own animal, and it's one of the few cities with triangular blocks. The problem with Pittsburgh (other than someone designed the road system in a saloon) is PENDOT. I swear it's a job security racket where they fix the roads just well enough so that by the time one end is all patched up they're back on the other end fixing it.
I was born & raised in Pgh and also learned to drive there. Mostly in the suburbs, but I'd often go visit my dad at his office dahntahn. I lived at home during college; I'd drive from the "Saath Hills" to Oakland to go to Pitt almost every day, in a 4-speed manual transmission and Volkswagen Fox with no AC and no power steering. I'd sometimes parallel park facing downhill on the cobblestone streets. Then I moved out of state and I got spoiled. I went back to my dad's office a couple years ago on Wood Street, and Mr. Regular's reaction reminded me of how I had felt driving dahntahn. Used to be second nature to me, but that was a long time ago. I will say though, now that I have a Miata that I store at my parents' house ahtside the city, I have lots of fun doing mini hill climbs in Butler County. Oh yeah I forgot - I made four trips to Germany last year. Driving through German towns about gave me a nervous breakdown. The Autobahn, I freaked at first, but I got used to it. But the cities like Regensberg, or even Straubing, with the narrow cobblestone streets dating back hundreds of years...
Europe isn't bad to drive in. Maybe some of the oldest, most historical city centers in Germany or France, are difficult to drive around, but everything else is quite nice. In my experience, it's as comfortable to drive in Scandinavia as it is in the United States, for instance.
@@peacefrog0521 hey man, can you tell me what freaked you out on the autobahn? Was it just the speed of some cars? Because the laws there are pretty strict and straight forward. Only overtaking on the left lane and if there are three or more lanes only the far left is for going really fast, except the other lanes are completely empty. It’s absolutely forbidden to overtake on the right, so there’s not so much to worry about. Oh and you definitely shouldn’t drive too slow on the left lane’s even when it seems empty, because you never now when someone comes from behind, doing 250kmh. That’s also the reason, why it’s the law to drive on the farest right lane possible, when everything is free. You will get a Ticket when you’re constantly driving on the left lane, when there’s no reason to do that (I.e. slower cars or semis on the right lanes).
From the Camaro forums, if you swap out the yaw sensor to one from the automatic trans which does not have the longitudinal-accelerometer that triggers the hill start assist. I also have experience with Corvettes with the 1 to 4 skip shift... You can get an aftermarket part to disable the skip shift.
Something’s definitely wrong with the MagRide system in that SS, you can see that side-to-side wallowy bounce they’re talking about in the video. That’s not normal, my ‘17 SS doesn’t do that and none of the cars I’ve rode in with the MagRide system have done that either.
Dear Mr Regular and The Roman, Please make your next trip to South America or Mexico. I'm a Brit living in Lima and I've noticed so many great 'regular' cars here. They're particularly well-preserved in Lima as it almost never rains. Sure, there are the usual Beetles and US classics, but the regularness maxes out with 90s Sentras that are everywhere. Seriously, they've even continued making them in Mexico and it's pretty much the most common car here in Peru. If you're hankering for some New Zealand level scenery or British level weirdness, try Peru. Best wishes, Rich
Not michigan left, you just get to sit there in the median where there's always a cop ready to pull up next to you and remind you how to make a left turn here
Yep a great car from down under that you guys in U.S.A. know very little about !!! Just a tip buy one put it on blocks it will become a collectors classic in your life time . YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED by a old guy from South Australia [Adelaide ] the city this vehicle was manufactured .
Living in Pittsburgh is frustrating because you learn all the tricks and lanes but then get frustrated when out of towners don't know them and swerve between lanes at the last second.
IKR? Regs probably freaks out at a cloverleaf on a Kansas interstate -- now watch his head explode in the city that forces you to make a major driving decision once every 1.3 seconds.
Mr R drives 10% of my daily commute... I thought I recognized that bridge (the under-side of the 31st) but I've never been under it except on one of the Gateway Clipper boats. For what it's worth that 31st street bridge interchange is leaps and bounds better than what it used to be even if it is confusing as all fuck.
I have a 2016 automatic that I daily in Pittsburgh. Yes, even in the snow. And while I love it to address RCR’s comment about the automatics being just as good, they are less fun than the manuals. And btw it’s easy to tell who’s not from Pittsburgh in the comments from anyone criticizing how he’s driving. A few things for outsiders. A Pittsburgh left is a real thing and the roads do suck and buildings do just fall on cars and it is very confusing to drive in Pittsburgh, so he’s not driving like a spaz. He’s driving how Pittsburgh demands a driver to drive.
The hill start in my Kia forte only holds for the briefest of moments. It took me a while to actually identify it, I just assumed that it didn't actually have it.
The hill start doesn't bother me. I guess because I'm getting on the accelerator as soon as I come off the brake and letting out the clutch at the same time. 2 seconds is more than enough time for me.
My 2015 Mazda 6 has a hill start assist just like this SS does. It only holds you for about 2-3 seconds and then it will start rolling back if you don’t do anything. It’s weird but it’s very helpful once you get used to it.
I really don’t get their gripes about tour mode suspension. I’ve had a 2016 for almost two years and I’ve never considered the softest setting to be floaty, even on horrible roads.
Funny you noticed the difference in throttle response that quick but the owner didn't know. The pedal is quicker to respond in Tour, compared to Performance and Track modes.
I own a 2015 SS. If I lived in Pittsburgh (a town with which I am familiar) I would put John Deere low-pressure Ag tires on it to cope with the alleged potholes (bomb craters).
I drive mine around in Tour 90% of the time and it doesn't bother me at all. Also I have a 2015 which does not have the bi-modal exhaust. I'd spend more time in sport if the exhaust was louder.
I don't understand how traffic lights in the US work, you can turn right on red, but only sometimes and you can turn left on green, while oncoming traffic also has green. That doesn't make anysense. Why bother having any traffic lights at all at this point?!
They(USA) have less flowing traffic so people need to wait less per intersection else it would take to much time. Overseas there is more flowing traffic and less lights, so waiting a bit longer for a left turn is not so wastefull. The oncoming traffic having green is a global thing tough, but primarily used for the road that crosses the main road. So the single lane road crossing the main double lane road. The double lanes will almost never have double green like that.
Not where I'm from (Israel), left turn lane either has their own traffic light or if combined with the straight lane is set to only be green when oncoming traffic has red. Turning right has almost always a dedicated lane that bypasses the intersection with a yield/give way sign. In rare cases where there's no room for such lane it will get a traffic light (or combined). There's no way to get into an accident going on green or having to go on red (unless there's a malfunction or someone is running a red light).
Down town Pittsburgh in a fast car is a problem?, you should try it in an old Volvo, with almost no power and almost dead power steering... got stuck on a hill once, too steep to start... and its to long to do a 3 point... the legendary 7 point turn straying on the sidewalk... ...good times
I saw several comments about the driver being a woos, etc. 1. He is driving a somewhat demanding car and respecting that it is NOT his car. 2. Pittsburgh makes people who have driven there all their lives want to commit seppuku: hills to steep to walk, roads that have not been maintained since the Pleistocene Era, bridges, tunnels, constant construction (pretend construction)… The Ho Chi Minh Trail was better than any Pennsylvania road.

During rush hour there is literally no way to get around certain traffic you just have to endure it
