    What are your thoughts on the Chevy SS and whether it was a sales flop or success?

    • @ram67
      @ram67 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sales success! Chevy/Holden never intended to sell many of these - knowing they would shutter the Holden factory in 2017. Chevy didn't advertise much either - it wouldn't make sense spending $$$ to advertise a car that was going to be discontinued not to mention they didn't bring many of these beauties over here!

    Have a 16 SS same color. DID NOT KNOW about the pass through in the rear seat!

      @RetroCarGuy530  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's one of those features that you don't use everyday, but when you purchase something that's a bit too long to fit in the trunk it sure comes in handy. My current 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV project car's rear seat does not have the pass through, but the hole is there in the trunk metal. I do miss my 2017 Chevy SS, but the Caprice PPV is shaping up nicely... Thanks for checking out the video!

    Happy to see you've got the Holden badges on it.

    Good info. Totally missed that I have a sunglasses compartment up top.

      Well I thought I wasn't that dumb. The sunroof controls eliminate the sunglasses holder.

      Yes, mine is a without a sunroof. It has the sunglass holder in the location of the buttons for the sunroof. :)

    G'day from Australia ...Holden no longer exists at all ..That is a real tragedy ..I'm a Ford fan but to see the demise of the whole company that was the direct rival to Ford here is reprehensible by GM .. So glad that there are genuine owners and fans of our GM cars and so thrilled the VF Commodore got the kudos it deserved in the U.S.A.. Thank you for your great interpretation of the car as as the Chevy SS .. In case you might not be aware the exact same thing happened to the Ford Falcon , It was in continuous production between 1960 and October 2016 and nearly 4 million were produced . In it's final years especially it was a fantastic car and a capable direct rival for the VE and VF Commodore platforms via the FG and FGX models . We switched over from the 5.4 litre Boss V8 to the 5.0 modular V8 but also developed an integrated supercharger from Australia and also had the four litre DOHC inline 6 Turbo and N/A Barra engines with fully designed in VCT . The engine was/is the Barra engine..It's a gem of an engine and avoids all the issues V6's have and is incredibly reliable and powerful .
    The Falcon was never designed to return to the left had drive market and Ford global didn't want that to happen anyway but the Barra engine especially is finding it's way to the U.S. and has become a really desirable option in your country ...Once again thanks for your support and appreciation of the Chevy SS..It's awesome... Check out some info on the Ford Falcon too...You might be surprised what you find out .

      Thanks for the positive comments on my video. I sadly had to sell that 2017 Chevy SS to fund my company. I used a portion of the proceeds to purchase another Holden produced vehicle a 2014 Chevy Caprice PPV which is my current channel project vehicle. I'll check out the Ford Falcon.

      @@RetroCarGuy530 Thanks ...The VF Chevy SS is a great car..maybe one day you will be able to get one again ...I'm sure the Caprice will be also terrific for you ..Seems you know what your doing because Holden made some good stuff ..The company no longer exists , even in name only as of a few months ago ..It's almost beyond belief that the company that had a huge market share less than two decades ago here no longer operate at all ..
      Yes please , check out the Falcons . They are equally loved here in Australia and were extremely popular right up until the faceless people in car companies not least Ford and GM decided to market big ugly trucks and SUV's at us . The last two models of the Falcon are the FG and FGX ...The last GT Falcon was the 2014 Ford Falcon GT-F ...F stands for Final ...but the last Falcons for performance were te XR's in the FGX model run . They were the FGX XR8 Sprint and the FGX XR6 Sprint .. The Sprint name paid homage to the original 1960's Sprint name for performance orientated Falcons . I own two beaut Falcons , a 2001 AU Series 2 Futura and a beautiful FG XR6 . Cheers again ..Enjoy the Caprice ...

    Great review. Add a blower and E85 Flex kit and these cars are simply amazing.

    What's the elevation? It seems to be choking. SS usually accelerates much quicker than that.

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sacramento valley floor so about 100 ft elevation. I didn't have all of the nannies off so that may be part of the reason.

      good call, elevation is around 1200' and my 90 c1500 chokes too...

    Thank you for the most thorough Chevy SS video I've found on TH-cam! Great, detailed info! Don't have an SS...yet - but hope to pick up a '17 in NGM! ;)

      @@RetroCarGuy530 Absolutely! Test drove one in '17 (manual) - loved it, but couldn't pull the trigger (before Chevy had the 20% discount). Also recently test drove another '16 manual in white - but waiting for my NGM! ;) I fell in love with this car ever since I saw it on a 2016? edition of MotorTrend's Ignition with Jason Camissa & Randy Pobst flying around a track with one! For now, I'm going to make the cold startup exhaust note my ring tone LOL!

      Also 1 more to add to the "Wish List" - split-folding rear seats... ;)

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, split 60/40 rear seat would have been a great feature in this car. The pass-thru in the rear seat is bigger than some other cars so it's not so bad only having the pass-thru.

    There is a hidden Track mode option I believe.

    • @RetroCarGuy530
      @RetroCarGuy530  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The "Driver Mode" dial is used to select "Touring", "Sport" or "Performance" driver modes.
      There is a documented "Track Driver Mode" in the owner's manual:
      Press T/C button twice quickly to set Track Driver Mode. Messages display in the Driver Information Center (DIC).

    I have the 2014 Chevy ss sedan and I love it.. I installed a pedal commander and man does it make a difference.. you should throw a pedal commander on yours. You wont drive the ss with the pedal commander being ON
