    THIS. It looks like a bomb went off in my place, and it's not helping my stress. BUT, I'm too overwhelmed to get it organized. by the end of the work day....I'm drained.

      We're all jumping in to say, Yes! Me too! I'm going to try a body double (with a friend, via Zoom). Not sure if it will work, but my clutter is really bothering me.

      Same. I have found body doubling helps with my self care and organization. ill watch a youtube show and it motivates me (vr human better than no human u know)

    I resonate a lot with what you are sharing in this and other videos. I am of similar age and late diagnosed. Having a spouse that supports you and understands you is huge. My wife helps me organize and decluter spaces, we recently had huge office reorg project and even though I did most of the work, knowing she is there to help if I ever get stuck was huge.

    I MUST be going through burnout right now because I JUST missed my appointment with my psych who prescribes my meds. So I had to reschedule... This is on top of all the myriad tasks that are currently overdue and that I haven't made much progress on. All of this is just too expensive for a grad student 🤦🏾‍♀️

    Just diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 50+. I have known for a very long time that I had it but was told by 2 different Dr.'s I didn't have it, very frustrating. Went through a battery of test with a new Dr. and it was 100%. I am so happy to have found your video's and plan on watching them all. Thank you for what you are doing.

    I have not be evaluated but I know I have ADHD from all the symptoms. I can’t afford to get diagnosed but maybe I will someday. I am thankful for your content. It has helped me a lot already in terms of changing my mindset about myself. My to do list is now called “can do list.” You are doing incredible work. Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.

    I'm actually in the process of decluttering and making my space more for me and not for what my brain thought I needed on an impulse over the past 5 years of marriage. Lol
    I'm also an introvert too and gosh work and being around the people there can just be so exhausting. I'm happy with myself at work but handling other people just gets overwhelming quick.
    Thank you so much for all these videos. I recently stumbled upon your channel and as an adhder in her 30s that finally got her diagnosis about a year ago, your videos have been so helpful for me working through some of the struggles we older peeps have. ❤

    I’ve found a clean room helps with my “brain cleanliness”. It’s as if my messy room is literally a reflection of my inner mind. It will never be spotless, but the more I find a place for everything, and reduce my consumption of goods, I find more peace too. Thanks for sharing. Awesome channel

    This is great. I could relate to a lot of what you said, I don't like mundane cleaning but need things tidy and clutter-free. Clutter distracts me. I also need recovery time, otherwise, I end up exhausted for several days. I hadn't thought about it, but green, nature, and soft things, are also very calming for me. Great content!

      I also like things to be beautiful, clean, and decluttered. My wife says I’m just too fussy and picky, OCD, but she can tolerate piles and messes and get to them ‘maybe someday…’ Her messes.
      And the whole time I grew up, my mom would leave messes in piles and clutter and I think it’s just more distractions to see when I look around and I feel less at peace so I hear ya!

    Diagnosed at 58. Went on meds at age 60. Then had to stop the meds after a heart attack in January of this year. So I am back to coping without meds. This is all fantastic information. I have been doing many of these things for as long as I can remember. The hard part is ALWAYS the self care. It is always the first thing to go when the calendar compresses and stuff needs to get done. Sleep is always an issue. Diet is too.
    The other issue is a lack of support. Our insurance changed January of this year (2023) and I have been on a waiting list since then. (That's right, I've been waiting for 9 MONTHS to connect with someone on my insurance.) I feel like I want more like a counselor/life coach (but feel childish....I'm 61. Should I not have my sh*t consistently together by now?). And where are the friends?? (Not whining, just a fact.)
    My wife still doesn't understand that if things don't magically align, stuff will not get done. And nagging doesn't help. And telling me what to do doesn't help.
    Enough! I need to go.

      I just got diagnosed at 60, already had a heart attack 8 years ago. Not sure what I'm gonna do. Have you tried the non stimulant meds?
      Is that an option after a heart attack?

    Thank you a lot for this, I was feeling bad those days, mentally exhausted, without really understanding what triggers that state, and I wanted to work on finding a system that could work for me (I'm 23 and got diagnosed ADHD like 3 months ago, and have no professional help so I have to learn how to deal with my everyday problems and complicated emotions alone 😅)

    YES, and THANK YOU. Your content is really helping me. And at 3:58 I learned that what I put in my body is EXTREEEEEEEEMLY linked to my body awareness experience through and through. If I eats sugar, flour, processed food, or eat late at night and try to sleep with food in my stomach, FORGET IT. I’m off, tired, moody, gassy, bloated, distracted, irritable, and nothing seems to fall into place. That’s just me. Hope that helps. I’m lucky I adore cooking and grew up around gardens and fresh clean food so I know how to prep interesting clean meals. TH-cam is a great resource like you said, so anyone who wants to do that can TH-cam it. Great advice all around and thank you for helping me so much to make my life better. Big hugs 🤗

    Great video, thanks! I really clicked with your comments about having a decluttered environment. But I can't seem to make headway in that area! I am currently working mostly from home, but I feel like I'm spinning my wheels most of the time. I need to be able to think clearly to tackle this BIG project of decluttering, but the clutter prevents me from thinking clearly......sigh. I'm not sure how to get out of this hole.

So interesting how everything was relatable, from the comfort-seeking in little things (blankets or the embrace of socks in my feet... even if I'm a sweating person. No one understands me 😊) to having my favorites essential oils close by and my diffuser. But in this mess of a life I never make that into a routine, not even linking it all with creating an environment with beautiful sounds. But one thing for sure... I really need to search for a group close by. You are right! I'm sure this introverted dude will start liking humans and being around them... being my ADHD-peeps 😊 Thank you again, Caren.

    Clutter really gets me but sometimes its hard to control when yoy have so many hobbies floating around.
    Cleaning on the other hand is something I'm suprisingly good at but links in with reducing the clutter.
    Scheduling things is my worst thing because you just end up procrastinating and avoiding doing stuff that needs to be done. Every single piece of homework I ever did at school was done the night before. Same for university. 😭

    Does anyone know who has good tips for moms with kids? I feel like most of the adhd tips don’t account for parents with little kids. Like kids are loud and messy, tips on coping /dealing with this would be so great

    Do most people with ADHD love blankets and soft things? I thought needing my blank as an adult was just a silly personality quirk but being recently diagnosed with ADHD and finding other adults talk about this is fascinating. Seriously, I have been known to answer the question "if you had one item to bring with you to a deserted island...." - my blanket!!

      Ha! Yes, I can relate to that. I think a lot of us suffer from sensory overstimulation, so soft things bring comfort. Also, they feel emotionally comforting, so I'm all about the fuzzy blankets.

    Vata. You need more lubricant nourishment to buffer the myelin sheath of your nerves. Please look into Ayurveda. ADHD differs from constitutions . You will accelerate your wellness and for others. Does your gut get airy quick?
