    I'm a US history teacher, 7th grade. I like to add music links to my assignment pages so the kids can click on something different, but relevant to the subject matter. I used this on some work I gave and one of my kids just responded that "the song...is so good that I plan on learning how to play it on my clarinet." Just made my day! B)

    this music makes you speechless! There is nothing you can do but just listen to it again. Wynton, you are my role model, even though I don't play trumpet the way you play, the emotions that you show and the love you have for playing is seriously contagious! You make me want to be a better musician and a better person!! Thank you so much for being exactly who you are! -Heather

    I had the honour, pleasure, joy and any other superlitive you wish to use being at this concert in Marciac on the night of 12thh August. We did not let them leave the stage before 2 in the morning!! The genius of this group of musicians is to perform this music played before to only a few underprivilaged to new atrrangements. Each and every musician contributed indivual styles to this music which could have got lost for ever. (the banjo played looked like an ex-banker from Leahman Brothers)

    That is without question the best rendition of Dead Man Blues I have heard in a long time and I have been playing this happy music since 1961. Tradjazzman in Portland.

    It was such a great honour to meet Wynton Marsalis at the Joy of Jazz and that colleboration he did on stage with Sibongile Khumalo was my highlight of the evening, such an awesome experience.

    • @jwmc41
      @jwmc41 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Kevin K It’s more ridiculous than awesome - and Sydney Bechet certainly never did that. The rest of the performance completely misses the spirit of Jelly Roll Morton’s beautiful version - the different bumblebee flights are completely out of character.

      Ich habe diese Bewertung abgegeben, weil ich Wynton vor einigen Jahren als Solist im Klassikfach kennen und schätzen gelernt habe. Wie ich überzeugt worden bin, ist Wynton ebenso ein herausragender Jazztrompeter und -solist. Deshalb: Super Wynton !!

    Wynton plays a Monette B2S3 mouthpiece in STC-3 weight. On his Monette trumpet, the mouthpiece is an integral mouthpiece. (as you can see, it is a built in mouthpiece)

    I absolutely love jazz... like period. But I find it hilarious how the perception of jazz has changed. You go back to the 20's and it was the trashy, dirty, sex music, and now jazz is like the "sophisticated" thing.

    • @nickbradey1033
      @nickbradey1033 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point . The bands in the 20s did not have the scores in front of them when
      they played . However the playing here is first rate !

    • @lindalawon9151
      @lindalawon9151 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I Disagree 100%.
      There was nothing trashy nor dirty about Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Ray Brown, Joe Williams, Ella Fitzgerald, Dakota Staton, Sarah Vaughn, Sweets Edison, Roy Eldridge, Art Tatum,Flip Phillip's, Jean Louis Illinois Jacquet just to name a few. You cannot mix the upper crust with the lower crust because the upper crust was just the opposite of what you had in mind and they are not trashy nor dirty nor sexy but instead great jazz musicians.

      @@lindalawon9151 I'm very late to these comments, however I believe he meant that was how the public at that time had seen jazz.

  • @coldgeniusrecords
    @coldgeniusrecords 11 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Wynton puts together some of the best bands out there still playing that real, old school jazz. He's one of my favorites by far. Weird question, but does anyone happen to know what kind of microphones those are on the clarinets? They sound fantastic! They look a little like short architecture ribbon mics, and if anyone knew the make and model, I'd love to grab some for my studio!
