    Too much gasket sealer grease can lead back to the same problem

      and negates the reason for having an o ring.

    • @dannydee9919
      @dannydee9919 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@richardjerrybest in this case it does not matter, the o ring was already failing, so there is nothing to negate. Replacing the o ring would be the next best solution but those o rings are size specific and i believe that ac delco does not sell just the o ring.

      @@dannydee9919 Well my comment was from three years ago, but for what it's worth, you can buy a set of assorted O-rings from Princess Auto or most other parts shops for very little.

      @@richardjerrybest yea but the thing with o rings in these type of applications is they almost always have to be the exact fit and durometer. And after already going through the tedious process of installing that hunk of metal in an awkward position, dealing with those stupid tedious spring hose clamps, then torqing bolts, then fitting the pullies, i honestly wouldn't want to trial and error in an attempt finding a matching oring, knowing my luck ill try on every single oring in the assortment box only to find out that none are compatible.

    To break the fan clutch loose take a c clamp with the belt still on a clamp it to the top of the fan pulley. There will be two layers of belt that will be in the way. Snug the clamp up but not overtighten it. Then use a wrench to break the clutch bolt loose. Using a cheater wrench will help.

    Brilliant Krystian. As usual great job. Very thorough.
    You are going to love that Shakespere Micro Series 7' fly rod. Perfect brook trout rod. I put a classic Pfleuger Medalist 1494 on it with WF4 line. Casts beautifully. $17.00 at Walmart!!!

    Nice truck, nice video! Sorry you had to pull it apart so many times, it is not a fun process. I used a chisel and a hammer to break the nut for the fan (and tighten it back on). I changed the pump when it started to leak from the weep hole. Sometime after replacing it, it leaked at the new gaskets (the replacement pump came with cheap non oem style gaskets). Replaced those with oem style and my leak went away. Not the same as you, but I figured my experience would be helpful to others coming to your channel with similar issues.

    A good way to lock up the fan to unscrew it. Use one of those flat bar clamps. Secure it around the housing. And put the bar against the bottom of your alternator or a pulley nearby

  • @yaycity8870
    @yaycity8870 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You could have saved yourself all the work and just put 2 10 mm bolt and hold it with a flathead or something a little bit bigger and that's it but it's cool that you made your own too good job is about getting the job done

    I rented, with an $80 deposit, a spanner wrench kit from Autozone. My husband would whack the wrench with a metal hammer and I would stuff a screwdriver into the puller nuts to prevent the bolt from moving with the pulley. I wasn't able to hold the screwdriver, so I readjusted it so I put my foot on the screwdriver handle. A few whacks and it was off.

    My 2003 6.0L was leaking around 2 of the 4 seals between the block and the pump. Looked like the factory seals were pinched a bit and leaking for a long time.

    I'm glad u showed this vid. I know I need a new one. I can't use regular coolant so I've been putting in water so it doesn't run hot. I think I should start using distilled water instead. So wat can I use for a temporary seal until I get it replaced?

    • @troutjunkie7330
      @troutjunkie7330  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Are you sure its leaking from the back and not front? 99% leaks out of the weep hole in the front. Problem with running water is rust in all the passages in the engine. The block is raw iron that rust with normal water. Once you got layer of rust, the water does not cool the engine

    • @deezyfosho
      @deezyfosho 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @troutjunkie7330 if I could send u a Pic of where it's leaking. I was gonna start using distilled water until I get it replaced. I make small trips n then back home. I dnt wanna use coolant cuz it'll just leak out. Honestly it's leaking from wher the water pumps gaskets on the passenger side of the pump. N it's dripping down on the harmonic balancer. I was just gonna replace the pump n I might as well change the thermostat also. I thought it was a product I could use to seal it up for now

    Did that work? I would be worried that if the gasket sealer is squeezing out of the outside when tightened it would also squeeze on the inside.

    Bro just use the belt tensioner to hold the fan next time throw the belt back on under tension and it will allow you to hold the fan , be careful tho you would not want to turn the engine counterclockwise by hand so be careful doing it like i do it.

    use a c-clamp clamped over pulley and serpentine belt. Tighten down. Then Use an adjustable wrench and a pipe if necessary for leverage. It takes nothing to remove the fan.
    99% of the time, These water pumps leak because of crappy gasket sets where it mates to the block. Buy good gaskets like Fel Pro and you won't have problems
