    We live on top of a hill and our neighbor owns a dozer, we hired him for 3-4 hours of work. What took him to do in that amount of time we’d still be clearing in 2 years. Highly recommend getting big machines to do the heavy work.

      A lot of times pioneers would just burn the forest down to clear fields. Not all by hand

    So nice to see Josiah having a lot of confidence in himself and he certainly is coming out of his shell and taking on that machine he is a very capable young man. Glad to see Jonah is doing so well after his surgery and seeing the whole family enjoying the end of day and seeing the fruits of the big machine clearing all that land. Well done.

    That's cool Justin that you could get your cousins to clear that a acre in a day! That is soo fast! It looks so good! Some of these huge trees look like they could be milled for lumber. They are nice and straight. It would be sad to just use them for firewood. This was fun to watch! Thanks for this Rhodes family! I like how the boys got to pitch in moving some of the firewood piles.

      He has money that just farmers don’t have. In addition to being a farmer Justin is a business man. He wrote a book on his methods of farming and gardening, he now has his kids book out, he has Abundance plus, he holds workshops. This man is busy. Not just with his hands but also his brain. He shows us what we are all capable of. But we have to put in the hard work. He’s done/still doing that and reaping all the rewards!!

    Hi Hollar house,
    I might be a little too late for my comment.
    May I suggest, all downed timber, grasses dirt etcc.. could be piled up on contour. Then whether you burn it, or it simply rots... it catches water and run off soil. This then holds and soaks back into your farm.

      $2,600 for an acre of pasture is extremely affordable. Nobody is gonna be able to buy that for so cheap. If a homesteader we’re looking for more land then this would easily be the most affordable option

    • @trihex9
      @trihex9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Mh7272 You can't just pay someone $2600 to clear an acre of land and then claim you own it. You have to own it to begin with. And $2600 to pay someone to come clear it for you, is not affordable for a lot.

      @@trihex9 that’s definitely not what anyone was saying bud. In his situation this was the most affordable option. There is absolutely no more affordable option to obtaining pasture than what he did. Even if you were to buy wooded land and pay someone to clear it it’d still be cheaper than buying pasture/field straight up. If you can’t afford 2,600 an acre then you can’t afford an acre at all. worried about clear felling on a slope such as that we have just had major floods here in New Zealand and lost feet of top soil and all the slash ( tree felling leave behinds) ended up in rivers taking out major bridges and wrecking whole neighbourhoods on East Coast
