    I’ve always admired how much freedom you’ve allowed your children to have in the choices they make. This is such an awesome purchase that they’ve worked hard for. I vote you let the boys keep the extra amenities that have been added to the truck, they really really like it. Come on dad, I’m team “keep the amenities”😂😂

    Congratulations Very Nice addition to the Homestead. I agree with you on the Tires and Rims. They aren't good for Hauling or for Farm Work. The Fender Protectors and Brush Guard are good to have on a Farm Truck. Saves Fenders and Brush Guard are always good to have. I'm a WV Lady with Farm experience and Lots of Farmer Friends. They say ditch the Tires and Rims but leave the rest as is. But that's us WV people. The Truck will come in so handy. Put good seat covers on so the Mud and stuff doesn't ruin the seats cause it is a work truck. Peace from WV

    What a great truck and a fantastic accomplishment for the kids. Keep the wheels and flares as is; not sure why people don't think they are practical for towing. I've got a 2017 SD with a 3" lift and oversized rims and tires, and there are zero issues towing my 22' loaded trailer and 16' livestock trailer.

    If it's going to be a "farm truck", then I agree that the custom rims and smaller tires need to go. I would leave the black fender guards and the brush guard on though. They'll help protect those areas of the truck. Remember Justin, the boy, Jonah and Josiah, put their money towards helping to buy that truck. Once they have their DL's, they will be driving it also and probably using more as a true farm truck and not just a road warrior, pavement beater.

      And they can use it for their future excavation business the boys want to develop, for which they are getting all the skill building and practice now. Their truck can haul the future tilting flat bed they will need to haul the heavy equipment and attachments they will acquire to expand their skills and potential abilities they will be able to offer. And hopefully soon, in a year or two, Lily will get her horse.

    I concur with everyone on letting the young men keep their amenities. Otherwise, this is dad’s truck. They worked hard for their purchase and you are making it conditional. If it’s about safety, coach them through it and offer choices and rationale, but honor their choices.
    Don’t set an example to your young men that age and family position means abject control. I know you’re a great role model for them, however, cultivate your age, position and wisdom into an example of incredible leadership. Let them always be able to trust your involvement in their lives, irrespective, and they will continue to seek out your counsel.
    Just my two cents. With inflation that might not be worth much, but I did get two young men into adulthood.

    Leave the wheels and finder flares please. Those wheels are fancy but they can haul the load the truck is rated for or they wouldn't make them. Yes the tires will be a little more expensive, but the boys like it and they are working to pay for it, or atleast part of it.

      Lilly is very young still and needs to grow more before getting a horse, that's a lot of responsibility for a small child and the boys are at a stage where they are learning and capable or doing more things.

  • @mercydee28
    @mercydee28 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Id let the boys decide if they want to keep the accessories on the truck, it surely won’t hurt the truck’s performance at all but it might not have the wow factor if you strip the pretty of the truck.

    The tires and rims definitely should go but you might want to rethink the fender guards. Those protect those fenders from damage and it'd be a good idea to keep them. Besides, both of the boys liked them and if this is "their" truck, then you should allow them to have input into its appearance.

      They've talked about how they're working towards it. Horses need HIGH quality pastures so the wrong grasses won't make them sick. It's going to take a few years to get the right grasses growing in all their new pastures. Plus, Lilly is 11. How many 11 year-olds do you know who are mature enough for a 2,000 lb responsibility? Let her grow up a bit more and take more riding lessons. I'm sure we'll see her horse in the next few years.

    We had a 2006 F250 6.0 for 13 years my husband hauled his excavator IN his dump trailer with it, we hauled big campers while pulling a 22' boat. And the 6.0 is the worst engine. So you will love the 6.7!! My husband's 6.7 is a great truck. He's had it a few years with zero issues. And it's a service truck, so he puts the miles on 5 days a week. Congratulations and enjoy!!!
