    Mark did a great job but allow me to elaborate a bit.
    *_NC BBQ_* - Eastern Q is whole hog with vinegar and pepper sauce; Lexington Q (western) is pork shoulder with tomato based vinegar sauce
    *_seafood_* - NC seafood is available throughout the state but if you're ever near the southern coast, hit up the town of Calabash, NC. It's a tiny fishing village with a seafood restaurant on every intersection. Calabash style seafood is a thing.
    *_biscuits_* - NC has a real love for biscuits...breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mark showed Bojangels' which is headquartered in Charlotte but other NC chains famous for their biscuits are Hardee's (founded in Rocky Mount, NC) and Biscuitville. No need to visit Hardee's of course.
    *_Carolina style_* - If you see Carolina style hot dogs or hamburgers, it _usually_ means coleslaw, chili, chopped onion and mustard. Sloppy but delicious.
    *_pimento cheese_* - This was invented in New York but the south loves pimento cheese and it seems that NC is really fond of it.
    *_Pepsi_* - Yes Cheerwine is from NC but did you know that Pepsi was also invented in NC?

    • @adamhovey407
      @adamhovey407 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I live in South Carolina, but I live near Augusta, pimento cheese is basically something I grew up eating as poverty food, even when I lived in the Midwest. So, when I found out that people Associated it with wealthy people, I started laughing.

    If you're still in the state, hit up a Cookout! Its fast food like bojangles. They have delicious cookout style food that is cheap but good quality. Their BLT is 1.50 and will rock your world. They use crushed ice instead of cubed, and they have soooo many flavors of shakes that are too thick to drink through a straw. You've gotta check it out! I reccomend the cookout style hotdog, cheddar style burger, and cajun chicken sandwich. Kiddos would love the quesadillas 👌 i love cookout can u tell lmfao😂

      North Carolina is a very diverse state. The mountains to the west are gorgeous. The coast is beautiful. Research triangle has a lot of museums and culture. It's a really nice state.

    • @adamhovey407
      @adamhovey407 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I live in South Carolina, which, like North Carolina, is pretty diverse with regards to landscape, but, nowhere near as big. I like the Blue Ridge Mountains, in North Carolina. I would stay away from the coast, it's just because I prefer mountains. The area around Cherokee is nice, although I don't really care too much for Cherokee itself, too touristy, my friend's family is from there, and he doesn't like it either. You have big cities too, like Charlotte. If you want, you could live in South Carolina and work in North Carolina, that might actually be a little bit cheaper, if you're moving because of a job. I will tell you though, that in North Carolina, actually in South Carolina too, come to think of it, the Piedmont is growing very quick. I technically live at the very Southern edge of the Piedmont, but not the part that's growing really quick. So you need to take the stuff into consideration, like I said I love the mountains, but unless you're in one of those touristy areas, don't expect it to be a cakewalk to get groceries. Take in a pow wow while you're there, Pembroke has some good ones, from what I hear. It's almost 3:30 in the morning, that's the best advice I'm going to give.

    North Carolina barbecue is actually divided in two halves. Both are pretty unique, but the eastern part of the state definitely has the more vinegar based sauce. They barbecue shown in this video looked more western to me. Both styles are really good but that vinegar base in the east is to die for.

    There are many wonderful places to dine in the Raleigh area from sit down restaurants like Brewery Bhavana to doughnuts at Rise. Durham and Chapel Hill to the West also have great places. You will find amazing Indian food around the Research Triangle/Morrisville (Little India) area and pretty much any ethnic food you want all around the urban areas.
    North Carolina has a number of different regions and even accents from the coast to the mountains. There were a lot of immigrants from different areas that settled together; English, Scots, Germans, etc. There is a lot of German influence in the northwest parts. Scots can be found around Laurinburg, but there are pockets of them in the west.
    There is a lot of soul food and country cookin' around too so don't forget that. Barbeque is available most places, but many people (like myself) make their own. I prefer the eastern style, but won't turn down anything else.
    In tourist areas like Asheville, Wilmington, or Boone, you will find good food as you will in the major urban areas like Raleigh and Charlotte. In the more rural areas, you will find a lot of country food that you would find in other states.
    The craft beer movement in North Carolina is amazing. Asheville has a lot, but there are small breweries and brewpubs everywhere that are worth a visit. Y'all come on down.

      Tammie Renee yesssssss Tell him! With some moist cornbread( even better with honey butter). The sides are endless though. Black eyed peas, potato salad, homemade BAKED Mac and cheese, deviled eggs, Hopin John, Succotash, fried okra, hell even mustard greens! Chicken and Dumplings are fire too! Soooo many good eats. Casey’s in Wilmington has a good amount on their buffet. But the absolute best is homemade food from the original locals. Some restaurants are amazing but not all are created equal. I’m the biggest foodie ever and a NC native. And I appreciated this video. Please continue to come back and dive into the yummy deliciousness Mark! Also, if you like hot sauce, there’s a hot sauce store in Wilmington and Brits Donuts on Carolina Beach. And yes the seafood dishes really ARE endless. Ok, I think I’m done for now lol

    Also try Sundrop..it is a lemon lime drink found primarily in the Piedmont.
    Now..we do have the best BBQ on the planet. But we have two types. One is a thicker molasses and tomato based that you find all over. But the best kind, which is the vinegar based, is found mainly again in the Piedmont (middle) of the state. And the best BBQ comes from Lexington..about an hour outside of Charlotte. They serve their BBQ with red slaw which is not mayo based and to die for. And each October they have the Lexington BBQ festival.
    Also try a pimento cheese sandwich. I'm from the south and not a fan but lots of people enjoy it.
    And we are becoming well known for our wine. We have wineries all over the state and most of our wine is made from scuppernong grapes.
