    I'm at 8:52 and wonder if I'm the only one seeing two cats in both the circles....

    That chamfer looks awesome! I'm all for leaving it. I feel there is a certain beauty in leaving it natural.

    Resin inlay is so hot right now. Throw in a crayon. Now it's a boutique speaker. But seriously, looking forward to the solution. I was thinking of cutting another 45ish cut to glue in another sepala chunk. Lots of work though.

      jdawgl33 good idea. I hadn’t thought of that actually.

    I must finishing a project is always the hardest part. But when you are done, you can be proud. So keep it up, man! I really enjoy your craftmanship. Wish I could do the same :)

    Hi.. It's great you are back with video.. It would have been interesting if you made some Transmission Line speakers with 5 "- 6.5" elements

    okay spewing some ideas
    you could:
    - fill the gap with coloured resin
    - accept the looks of it and use the same wood on the other speaker (make that 'imperfect' as well)
    - try to make a curve around the larger woofer. so don't cut out neat the large woofer, but only cut out at the smaller woofer, and make it a nice curve and make it cone around the box nicely (that's also a bit kore interesting than a square box which's got the corners chamfered)
    - take off the maple, sand off the glue remains, and go to the diy store to get more fitting wood
    anyhow, in my honest opinion, it looks fair enough the way it is right now. I do have to say that I've got a taste for imperfect woods haha

    Good video, I like your shop.
    I have been meaning to build a table saw sled, but I still haven't pulled it out since getting a track saw.
    Your secret ingredient for glue ups is french's mustard I see... :o)

      @ImpulseAudioSpeakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Barry P haha yes the bottle works really well. The mustard not so much.
      I like my shop too, but it will be demolished this winter to accommodate an addition on the house :(

    Another option might be to fill the grove and then cover baffles with some sort of leather like material (a-la Sonus Faber).
    Also it seems ( at 7:14 ) that if you just glued that buffle board backwards it would come out just fine. :(

      @@ImpulseAudioSpeakers this is the only channel i found on youtube that has looked into almolst all details of speaker building. Maybe in the future you will make some videos on polars and constant directivity waveguides.

    Well, you could use some kind of molding on the missing areas on the baffle.

    • @ImpulseAudioSpeakers
      @ImpulseAudioSpeakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrBrymstond that’s an interesting idea I hadn’t thought of. Could router out a facet and glue in a piece of moulding or even more sapelle and round over.

  • @pliedtka

    So your back from underworld, I thought you are done with spkrs. Really, since it's real wood imperfections are allowed, beauty in its own. You can always trim and add the piece. I would mount drivers, use it and wait if it's a problem for me, spouse or friends visiting.
    BTW, have you had a chance to come across Rival Acoustics midwoofers - a few people made projects with them but not a lot said about them and I'm looking for better drivers than SB17NRXC

    • @ImpulseAudioSpeakers
      @ImpulseAudioSpeakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      pliedtka the SB is a good driver. I’ve heard of Rival but never used them. Would love to try them though. They are high on my list but don’t need them for anything specific.

      @@ImpulseAudioSpeakers
      I'm thinking about the one used by Javad and Wolf - FR looks OK other than some break-ups, but isn't as high as in SB17, so x-o should be easier. I like the larger damper, magnet - better design than most in this price range. I wonder how are other cones and if they will be again available.

    Great choice of wood, Gibson Les Paul's are the same.

    If I have two woofers in a loud speaker and wish to add a further one or two, what do you need to do to the crossover to have the sound 🔊 correct, what changes.

    • @ImpulseAudioSpeakers
      @ImpulseAudioSpeakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dave Jones well, it’s not very simple and depends on a few factors. You’ll need to change the woofer circuit and the tweeter resistors most likely. To what values I couldn’t tell you without a lot of details.

  • @MrBrymstond
    @MrBrymstond 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    5000watt is a bit for that size and you have to screw them down so they don't fly around the room like a balloon.

    • @ImpulseAudioSpeakers
      @ImpulseAudioSpeakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MrBrymstond hmm. Maybe scaling it back a couple zeros to 50 watts is a better idea then.

    fill that gap with some wood from the same type

    • @ImpulseAudioSpeakers
      @ImpulseAudioSpeakers  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      alex vladescu would be tough to make the grain match without looking like a repair/patch. But if I did it to both sides of both speakers it could work.
