    Bro I 100% agree with you about ALL of this. I live in Florida too, and WHY have a car as your main source of A to B when an E-bike will do it basically for free!? My only concern is that if I or you, or anyone gets hit by a car on one of these, the car ALWAYS wins. I've been e-biking as my daily for about 6 months now, it's saved me a ton of money, but you cannot trust ANYONE behind the wheel of a car.

    About the flats, you can put 'Slime Tube Sealant Puncture Repair' in the inner tube which self-seals small punctures. For smaller regular wheels, there is 'Gaadi Inner Tube aka ‘the sausage’,' an inner tube, which you could have on your rear hub wheel. These can be removed and patched, without completely removing the wheel or the tire. Finally, there are armored tires, with thicker walls and internal foam lining to prevent those anoying tiny punctures.

    I am a micromobilist myself. I’m riding my second ebike. I didn’t get it for the green factor but It’s affordable transportation and it doesn’t require me to have registration unless it is a faster version. But still, I will consider getting a car in the future because ebikes have their drawbacks. Like you, I am conscientious about weather and I would definitely under no circumstances risk it in the rain. And if I ever have to do grocery shopping, it’s done in two trips not on the same day. When it comes to safety, I always wear a helmet, and I do not charge the battery overnight or while it is on the E bike because it can cause it to catch fire. Sometimes I wear a safety vest. But the one thing I can’t stand it of course are detractors and people who have negative reservations and assumptions about people who ride ebikes, and they are just not worth my time so I kick them to the curb and avoid them. On the positive side, I’ve had people inquiring about the E bike I currently ride and eventually would consider buying one for themselves or a family member. I will also upload an unboxing and review of my current ebike from last November.

    I havent used my bike for my commute to work yet (~15 miles on south florida stroads is intimidating), but I've put over 700 miles on it already. I even convinced my brother to join the movement and he's currently waiting on delivery of his Ariel Rider X-Class.
    Also, I think I passed you on the road on my ebike a couple weeks ago! I'm usually riding that greenway every other evening or so. I'll look out for you next time!

    Being worth it depends on the person. I’m lucky enough to get to telework a good bit, I drive less, I’ve replaced lots of what I do have to do with PEVs. I have an ebike, but electric unicycles are my big thing. When I go in to work, I try to ride one to a commuter train station, take it with me, ride on the other end. I use it for local errands as long as the weather isn’t too bad and what I’m buying fits in a backpack plus my hands. I can do local errands faster on an EUC than driving lots of the time. I go back ways and sidewalks, and I can easily get to my local grocery in 5 minutes each way no matter what, it’s often longer than that in a car waiting at lights or for breaks in traffic at a stop sign. FWIW, use Flat Out, I’ve never had a problem with flats. My main EUC has some aggressive treads, though, and it could run over a knife set in the road and be fine. I do have 1,000 miles on an ebike though, no flats. Given that I mostly ride EUCs, it should be clear I ride pretty fast and hard. I agree with you that people should think very seriously about these things for short runs. Driving a car a mile to buy a gallon of milk is dumb, and so many trips are that kind of thing.

    Maaaan!! I live in Holland. I was so excited before I get one. When i finally saved enough to get one... the government put a speed limit of 25.kmh and throttles are banned, because old people are complaining about it! The media kinda ruined it. They only interviews really old people like 70-80 years old people on their platform.. so obviously they don't like seeing young people have fun! Becouse here like 98% of fatbike owners are young people. So yeah.. when i got one , most e-fatbikes sold without the throttle and with speed lucked. You can't bypass the speedlucks unless you really know your way around to hack it. The older models are really easy to unlock the speed limit, you just need to press couple buttons it was easy. New models can't be done easily. I have a OUXI V8 3.0. Looks pretty cool and comfortable. A lot people looks at my bike and ask me the price or how was it . I get compliments often. Other than that it feels like regular bike nowadays. Feels little slow..😅

I've been selling them and doing reviews here on TH-cam also, I'm down to 5, I've finally fallen into the ones that suit me best, flat-out is the best product! It's in every ebike I've got, u get a flat, pull the nail, screw, etc spin the tire, it seals the hole, pump up! It's amazing, love ur channel man, keep it up!

  • @noctv6809
    @noctv6809 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    FYI, you DO NOT always have to remove the wheel to repair a flat, especially if it's a typical puncture from a thorn (or something you can see). You just need to access the inner tube enough to patch the puncture... and remove the thorn of course. I've personally fixed several ebike flats without removing the wheel. I think people traditionally remove the bike wheel because it's usually easy and the whole process only takes a few minutes for a skilled person. However, when it comes to fixing a flat on an ebike, it's genuinely a complicated process, especially when it comes to removing the rear wheel with the wires, spacers, torque arm and disc brake, etc. So, let's rethink the flat repair process as it relates to ebikes, and fix the flat without removing the wheel, unless it is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

    I have a small handlebar bag that stays on my ebike at all times with a couple tire levers, a small multi-tool to tighten some bolts, a pre-glued patch kit and a tiny hand pump. I also carry a rain jacket for the odd rain storm I get caught in.
    When I get a puncture, I can just patch it real quick (10 minutes) with these tools. On the fat tires such as you have on your bikes, you don't even need tire levers to do so. You basically pump the tire a bit to spot the puncture. Then pull the tube slightly out of the side of the tire (making sure you don't damage it further) and patch it using the kit. I usually rub my hand inside the tire to make sure whatever punctured the tube isn't still wedged in there, and if clear and clean, I just pump the tire back up. 99% of the times, it's enough to at least get me home for a tube change or a more permanent repair with vulcanized patches (although, the pre-glued GP-2 patches from Park Tools have been holding really well so far and they are really just pressed on for a couple of minutes and ready to go).
    Because these bikes can take us so far from home, I prefer being a bit prepared and self sufficient. I also helped a couple riders fix their flats so they wouldn't stay stranded.
    Also good to know how to do these repairs yourself anyway, since a bike mechanic will probably charge you $50 for that. I would recommend tire slime at the minimum and tire liner if you tend to get a lot of punctures.

    Thanks for the video, I'm currently rebuilding and modifying a broken ebike I got off someone for $120 and this has definitely pointed out some stuff to keep in mind like having a bag you keep a battery bank, a spare tire tube, and tools on you when biking.
    If you're wondering why this bike was so cheap, it was unusable as a bike or an ebike lol missing the sprocket and chain for the bike side and wiring is all chewed up, throttle doesn't work at all, if you got the motor to spin it didn't actually move the chain and even stock and working it uses lead acid batteries with a max speed of 20mph at 24v. I'm ditching all the original wiring and everything currently, I fixed the gearbox so the motor moves the chain now, and I had a spare 12v battery laying around so I'm gonna bump it to 3 batteries instead of 2 which should boost me to 36v and a 30mph max speed. I'm just gonna hook a button to the handle bars too, it'll work but it's gonna just be all or nothing on the motor lol I'll have to just pulse the motor when I want to use it and depend on the pedals when I need to go slower. OH also the thing to mount the batteries is gone so I'll have to make something myself to mount the batteries on it.

    One thing i learned in dealing with the flats that happen on a ride while far from home.. You can get a small pocket-sized battery-powered rechargable air pump that you can carry with you on your person or on the bike and a patch kit. Total cost for both around $30. Some of the pumps even include a patch kit. You sometimes won't even have to remove the rear wheel just pull the tire partly off then pull the tube out just enough to put a patch on it after you find the leak then tuck it all back in and pump the tire up and go. I learned this AFTER getting like 3-4 flats and walking or calling for a ride I just patched a flat up about a week ago, took literally less than 5 minutes and I was back on the road. No more miserable walking, or phone valls for help haha. Of course, this doesn't work if you get a blowout where your tube is wrecked, but most of the flats I've ever gotten were repairable with a patch kit and the patches are self adhesive so you don't have to worry about glue.

  • @ferrarivisual
    @ferrarivisual 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You have to keep 2 spare tubes , & a mini air pump machine. Very light, & I came up with the idea to buy a spare battery & strap it to the cargo as well. Keep a mini tool set too of course

    Glad to hear the journey has been going well. My biggest worry was gonna be with the batteries, wear and tear but also getting stolen, coz outchea in Vancouver lord have mercy some of the battery theft been getting outta hand from what ny friends with ebikes tell me coz im still just on the escooter but I mostly use that just for commuting to and from work coz i can fold em and take em on the bus without using the bike racks on the buses.
    Really tempted to either get an ebike or grab one of the bigger off-road style scooters that you can take on more trails.

      @TheGamer2323  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I've legit been caught in HEAVY rain on these things multiple times on 2 out of the 3 bikes I have. Definitely don't wanna stay out there for extended times when the weather is bad but the batteries are water resistant. *Not water proof though.* Key difference. As far as the fear of it getting stolen I FEEL you. When I got my first one I was paranoid about it and scared to be in a store for more than 10 minutes 😅 I just invested in a SOLID lock chain got some alarms and called it a day. At the end of the day.... it's only so much you can do. If a sucka really want your bike they'll find a way to take something off of it or steal the whole freaking thing. The KEY is to deter them from doing it by making it as frustrating, and time consuming as possible so they just give up after awhile. People that go for bikes want it to be as quick and easy as possible. Invest in a few things to where if your bike ever is in that situation they have to go through more things to do it. That's what eased my nerves at least.

      @@TheGamer2323 So true haha, at the end of the day if somebody tryna snatch it they'll snatch it.
      But yeah thanks for the info. Will definitely let you know if I end up grabbing one coz your videos for sure tempted me, coz I think even last year I kept mentioning you should do scooters as well if any companies reach out to you.
      But yeah any of these bikes would be an upgrade on my scooter coz the only reason I opted for the scooter was convenience coz the scooter is small enough for me to take it inside most places once you fold down the stem so I've never really had to worry about leaving it on some bike racks.
      Anyways cheers for the content as always 👊🏿🙌🏿

I own one cable lock for my scooter that I don't use but I'd for sure wanna get maybe on top of that a chain lock and then that U lock that's hard to cut that people usually throw up on the back wheels. The theft got me shook and the thing is they don't even mind breaking the bikes down coz a lot of them strip them for parts and then sell them separately for a quick buck usually to repair shops and stuff.

    FYI, you DO NOT always need to remove the bike wheel to repair a flat tire. If the puncture is from a thorn for example, you just need to access the inner tube at the sight of the puncture to apply a patch and remove the thorn (or glass, nail, thumbtack, etc). Removing the rear wheel on an e-bike with the motor wire, torque arm, disc brake, etc., is a genuinely complicated. Let's rethink the flat repair process for ebikes and keep it simple. People traditionally removed the bike wheel on a regular bike because it's easy and the whole repair process only takes a few minutes, and you're back on the road. Let's do better. Blessings.

Of course I'm not hoping that this dries up but I've thought about what I could do since I have nice savings and some investments as well and lucky to inherit some family money too that I haven't touched. So I thought about an early retirement, downsizing and finding a nice manufactured home since I wouldn't need much, bring my car down with me in case I really need it for a major issue, but really just e-bike around, maybe doordash during the day to get some exercise and sun and cover small bills?
