I remember like was yesterday the "Reyes Magos" day in 2002 (in Spain it's like Santa's day, but 6th january) when I oppened the gift, PS2 & Pro Evolution Soccer 2, and I spent all day playing with my little brother. We freaked out with the intro when we first saw it. I remember this game very fondly. Very very good memories.
This game was so ahead of its time. I am glad that we can share this memory bro. It been the same for me and my best friend back in the days. We could simply not believe how great this game wad

I remember going to the internet in my neighborhood and seeing two boys playing, my head exploded when I saw those movements, shots on goal from afar, etc. I had PS1 and that game was a tremendous change for the better, I remember that for a whole year I was crying to my father to buy me the PS2 just to play that. Today 11/26/2023 I am watching this and I know why I liked it so much, it is still great today, it is impressive how well made the game is, I think that if PES had had all the licenses and details it would have been the perfect game. What a great game!

In some terms, this was better than PES 6 even! I've didn't seen long shot goals by AI so commonly in PES 4, 5 & 6, these were pretty rare.
This was a game changer. When I switched from FIFA to PES.
MY favourite PES game, wish they stuck to this style of gameplay. PES3 changed a bit too much for my liking personally, PES2 felt more realistic.
