I have great memories of this series as a teenager. ISS pro 98 and Iss pro Evo got me hooked. On Ps2, PES 3 was my favourite for years, until PS3 came out, and I eventually crossed over to the dark side and went with Fifa after PES 13. But PES will always be in my memory as a fantastic soccer game
I've been playing PES since the PS2 days, and I'd say that PES 2020 is one of the best in the series (perhaps even more memorable than PES 2013 for me). It also happens to be somewhat the last in the series (since 2021 is just a season update), so it will always have a special place for me. I spent hundreds of hours with this game during the 2020 quarantine.

PES6 is the best. It's not as flashy and sophisticated as the latter games, but it's the most enjoyable one. I still have it on my PC and play it time over time.
Agreed PES6 (and PES4 and 5 before) have something magical about them that is absent in the following years. They have more of an arcade feeling also since you can score beautiful goals from far too.

The fluidity and gameplay peaked around PES 3 to PES 5, after that you can see it get progressively worse. I stopped buying them due to constant disappointment around 2014 and the last one I bought was 2021. It's crazy to see the game play and static movement get worse over time rather than better. Gameplay should come first not quality of graphics, which is unfortunately what happens.
So happy when I discovered PES on PS2. During this time I had a PC much more powerful than PS2 so I could see the limitations. Hype was high for PS3... what a disaster. Only PES13 saved things... kinda. Then on PS4 PES15 was a beacon of light. First try and decent game wow! Then all came crashing down with PES16. This when PES took arcade to super arcady gameplay. Since then it's all been arcady ping pong passing games. 17 and 19 probably the best of these arcady trend, not good games. eFootball with 1.0 is more of the same, following the steps of the terrible PES20.
Pes 13 was trash are you for real??? Pes 16 was great and a beacon of hope for the franchise. Pes 20 was great. Arcady or not...the gameplay was realistic.

Up to 2019 pes was pes .....people with no so strong player could win thanks to their tech skills . Dribbling was the centre of the game. Now it's all about script, AI and annoying stuff (I mean efootball) ...there is no "skill first" approach. Give us back PeS where if you deserve you won without speedy Gonzales player which are now not stoppable in any way even if the opponent is not good. Someone will give us the old pes , I still believe in this
Same man , i used to stick to lineup formation tactics and skills and it gave me my favorite moments playing game and suddenly out of earth they decided to ruin it and build scripted bullshit
