    Glad B-Real made it out the gang life alive. When I was a senior in high school, I was the top emcee in my High school. B-Real invited me to the studio via some friends I had and my mom wouldn't let me go. I was so disappointed but 20 years later I thank Christ I didn't because who knows what I would've been exposed to as a young man.

    Humble dudes, talking about how easy it is to slip down the wrong path but also, crucially, how things like music can provide a way out for young people who live in these kinds of areas is truly commendable and is still so important for us to understand. Kids need ways out and need to be shown that there are other ways to live. Too many are dying at such young ages and all over the pettiest gangbanger BS and so many could be saved from all that if they had access to a studio in the neighbourhood and also other things, such as sports, different areas of the arts and music - things to help cultivate any talents they might have, to help them build confidence, to keep them out of the destructive gang culture and stop falling into the cycles of violence and chaos that trap so many people who just weren't shown a different way. And you can tell how real and humble these guys are for talking about this part of their lives and being honest about how they were saved from it all - how many rappers would just sit there putting on the facade, trying to play the part, even though they are just what Eazy-E would've called "studio gangsters"? Props to Talib Kweli and Jasmin Leigh for giving a platform to some of the best in hip hop and beyond (such as their interview with Tom Morello of RATM) - a great show with a conscious vibe.

    True GOATS. Playing their first few albums on vinyl constantly in 2022. Plus the Judgment Night soundtrack and that Beastie remix they featured on.

    I would never have pictured Young MC and B Real crossing paths! Two opposite ends of the rap spectrum! Young MC doesn't get a lot of respect from hardcore hip hop heads because he was seen as commercial, he had some great tracks though, Busta Move and Know How are two golden age classics! He also wrote Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina and gave them to Tone Loc!

    The white guy, oh excuse me, the white cuban guy doesn't strike me as a banger.

      Well, that “White” Cuban guy actually got shot which was detrimental to him doing music after. And unless you been around that life and that area, I don’t think no one can say who they are, and what they look like to them .

    • @Danheron2
      @Danheron2 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      He’s half Mexican half Cuban he’s light skin but it’s funny. He looks more white because he always wears a hat. When you see him without one he has thick, curly black hair and looks either Latino or like a light skinned black dude
