Marty Music hey Marty I was wondering if you could take a look at Joni Hendrixs acoustic version of hound dog. If you could get a tutorial up on that I would be extremely grateful. Thank you for your great lessons
I love that Hendrix y'all are talking about. Classic video, classic story behind that as well. It's worth reading the background to Jimi playing that hear my train on the 12 string in a dudes apt in NYC if I'm not mistaken. If it's true, amazing. Man, what a badass 12 string Marty is playing too. That MF is sweet.
I just got a Morgan 12 string for christmas and this song is what I've wanted to learn the most. Didn't even know you had a video on it but I'm glad, this is super helpful. Thank you Marty!
C Standard is the tuning. I had a hard time figuring this out. For a 12 string tune low to high: c3 C2 - f3 F2 - a#3 A#2 - d#4 D#3 - G3 G3 - C4 C4. Lower cases represent higher octave strings.
MARTY! Thank you for making one of the best blues guitar performances in my life accessible to me. I cannot believe this is something I can mess around with and make at least a few sounds that bring me in communion with the Master.
Phenomenal Lesson As Always Marty! The Hendrix Version Is Tuned Down To B# - Cb On The E String.... OR Change Your Tuner From Concert A 440 To A 84.79 Then Tune To Normal E-A-D-G-B-E. This Was Cool For ME When I Figured It Out So I Wanted To Share It! Ciao..
Hey Marty! Love your channel!!! David Gilmour, Jimi Hindrex, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Randy Rhoads are the ones that inspired me to play guitar and you've certainly captured all of their essence's. You've especially helped me actually learn how to play their songs and I just want to say thank you! Keep on rockin!
Your technique videos are GREAT! So much better than showing someone just "a song". Here you learn how to think and play coming up with your own stuff based on an idea/lick/progression/etc. that you are providing as an example. Awesome. Thank you Marty. Keep it up brother!
I believe Leo Kottke tunes down to C. He recommends tuning a 12 string down quite a bit because it makes the guitar sound fuller. He says standard tuning makes a 12 string sound like a mandolin.
Thank You an so glad you did the research on this wonderful rare Jimi acoustic classic and shared it with us....and you and me make salt n pepper beards look cool!...Haha!
Really enjoyed this one Marty, been searching for a bluesy song I can practice over and over and not get sick of. Any more like this would be appreciated.
My friend Mike was the sound recordist on the Hendrix acoustic session. Mike's long since left us but I loved asking him about Jimi as well as John Lennon!
That was bad as Marty. Thank you. I have been waiting for someone to break this one down. I've listened to this hundreds of times. My favorite recording of Hendriks. This is perfect for someone with my skill level. Something to work on. Thanks again.
Righteous! Thank you for this lesson. I love acoustic blues, can you do a lesson on Hendrix's acoustic version of Hound Dog? My goals are to learn Hear My Train a coming and Hound Dog
i just got back to acoustic practice cause i sold my squier for a little bit. I was like "How can i play some Delta blues without getting to far down the rabbit hole?" and here you are giving a theory lesson with a Hendrix song. Thank you so much!!
i think drop c on acoustic guitar also gives the tone a bit more flair and colour. i have wrote a spanish style blues song on it in standard, sounds great on electric, but even better in drop c on acoustic. great lesson as well, Marty! thx
This is a fun one. Tidbits on the tuning, interesting. Love the E blues on acoustic. Great, Marty. You have done much for The Blues at all levels. Your free courses are good and the *buy purchases* are the icing on the cake. Once you zero in on what style of music you like, pick up a few courses, everyone. I did and can’t rate them high enough on my learning curve. Whew, ‘nuff said!
Marty, that was prrfect, just wonderful playing. Sometimes we connect with stuff. I like this one because it goes with Gilmores "wish you were here. It shows how adaptable that pentatonic really is, and it definently boils down to technique or feel if you want. I'll be playing that as soon as I'm home, didnt know it was tuned down that far, but it makes sense the strings are too stiff other wise, cant get those bends that high up! thank you
Wow, Marty. I've just purchased a 12 accoustic guitar and saw a video of jimi hendrix playing the 12 string hear my train a coming and wanted to be able to sound similar. And you have made it possible to do so. Thank you so much for this video and all the other inspirational videos you do. Keep it up. Paul
@2:55 et-cedera..😁😆 love that. One of the funniest things I ever heard anyone say after playing such a nasty blues lick or five. I love Marty S. Man. My ex ole lady..r.i.p. was a great player, she dug your stuff and subbed your channel too. Good times..it's been a few years I dont want or need any condolences that wasn't the point of bringing it up, just saying you touch people bc you are a beautiful person on the inside I'm quite sure. If you aren't? You sure as hell deserve an Oscar and lead in the next scorses flick man bc you can act your ass off. Naw, can't fake being a genuine nice person. It's easy to see in a man or womans eyes. Much love buddy. Yah bless!
Bad ass Marty. Such a great groove. That tuning would sound fantastic with a little slide thrown in there. On a side note. I've been playing guitar for about 27 years now and I've learned so much from you over the last 6 months or so. What your doing here is so valuable. Hope people appreciate it. Just wanna say thank you and keep on keeping on brother. (~);} 🍻
Hey Marty this is Great Stuff ! Kinda of old timer here and just got tons of ideas while watching this. Thank you so much for all these great lessons and inspiring this old man to dust off my guitar and play!
Marty, I've always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. But the beggining seemed so slow and frustrating. But with your classes. Not only does it make guitar easy. It makes it very enjoyable and fun to play along.
Marty is the man although you wouldn't think it. Today is April 6th 2020 in a half hour I'm going to pick up hey Yamaha fg612s for $300. I'm all excited. But I know that guitar won't play itself
he got so old, so many memories i can remember about six years ago when i first started playing guitar i used to watch all his beginner videos. i can say that about 20% of my playing i learned from marty
Mr.Marty im so blessed and honor to see you come back even you have this channel a long time now haha, thank you for making my guitar playing good and passionate, your my inspiration sir and a living legend cos' of your sincerity to teach us great music! keep rockin' on sir and more genuine videos to come 😁😊😀❤💪✊
I'm missing half the strings on my guitar. Think I'll get my chorus pedal out and see if I can get the bright sound. Marty - like your new channel. Thanks.
one of the things he had, is how smouth was his left hand while picking (being lefty).Kinda like a wet noodle. his right hand did the other part of the job, with the same effortless feeling. i've never seen anyone else with this kind of ease while playing. The video he made on the 12 strings guitar illustrates it so well.
So rich track.. had on this licks from boom boom ( John Lee hooker ) , Catfish blues ( Hendrix version ) and a lot of stuff we hear on old school blues.
Awesome lesson Marty. Great job as always. I can't wait to get my 12 string out after work now! Keep up the good work brother. Just to clarify, 12 string is always out. I play it alot. But does have to be tuned down to C standard. Usually keep mine in D
drop tuning is just dropping one string (usually) for example, lowering the low E to a D, but leaving all other strings, is DROP D (DADGBE) ie, the D is dropped in pitch from E, but all other strings are the same. But D standard, is, tuning all strings down just as far as you did the D. (DGCFAD)
Thanks for watching! Free HD course when you sign my list at www.MartyMusic.com

As a student of the music and an elderly fellow I'm loving the sound that 12 strings so mellow.
As a non-student of the music and still young I agree fully
Marty you're a real G if you actually like everyone's comments and it's not a bot
Its no bot!
Marty Music I knew it Marty. You look after your subscribers

When I hear Marty strummin' there's a great lesson comin'.
Jimi playing that is the most cool I've ever seen in one frame. Been obsessed with it for 20 years. Thanks for demystifying somewhat 👍🏽
Hear my train is one of my favourite hendrix songs especially his 12 string acoustic version!
MARTY! Thank you for making one of the best blues guitar performances in my life accessible to me. I cannot believe this is something I can mess around with and make at least a few sounds that bring me in communion with the Master.

I'm missing half the strings on my guitar. Think I'll get my chorus pedal out and see if I can get the bright sound. Marty - like your new channel. Thanks.
If I didn’t just buy an acoustic guitar a month ago I’d be buying a 12 string to keep in C Standard all day every day. It sounds so soft in a way.
hahahah I was tuning my guitar and one of the G strings snapped 😂😂 thank you for making these videos!
Why would did it snap when you are tuning down?
Loving this lesson soooo much! Most helpful mate, cheers 🍻
And I got back to the one chord,
Then I’m gonna go the A7
And badapboomda puchapap,
And back to the E. 🎶🎶

That tone is amazing! 🤤
