    I never thought the Hunter was slow. I just think he's in no real hurry. He knows you can't kill him and that he will get you eventually. It's just a matter of time...and he's very patient.

    One thing to bear in mind about regeneration:
    Do you remember the growing pains you had when you were younger?
    Creating/building new/existing body parts consumes a GREAT amount of resources, and the process generates a lot of extra heat.
    Even if you hooked up a newborn baby to a tank of infinite resources, and amplified the speed at which it grew to physical adulthood into less than a minute; the baby would cook itself alive as the insane amount of heat generated would kill it just a few seconds into the process.
    Essentially, a creature regenerating as fast as the hunter should kill itself due to the speed at which its body changes, lol
    (let's not mention the fact that regenerating a new limb, assuming you can, usually requires more energy than what the limb in particular is made of. Just compare the volume of a starfish with the volume of food it consumed to reach that stage)
    You wouldn't even need to burn it with the shuttle thrusters, lol. Just shoot off enough limbs and watch it cook itself alive through the accelerated regeneration process!

    • @RoanokeGaming
      @RoanokeGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว +193

      I too have thought about the amount of heat is vented, any ideas?

      I feel bad for the hunter no wonder it gags and writhes when it regenerates.

    • @hellsunicorn
      @hellsunicorn 6 ปีที่แล้ว +76

      Roanoke Gaming My best guess would be that the heavily developed muscle structure plays a role in this, though the energy of the Marker may be bending the laws of physics. Granted, I don’t view Dead Space through a Naturalist lens (any kind of afterlife runs afoul of it), so my general inclination is to ascribe certain supernatural characteristics to how the market energy works.

    • @stingmon1013
      @stingmon1013 6 ปีที่แล้ว +54

      Roanoke Gaming I think it might actually just lets itself burn while regenerating cuz the muscle looks kinda burned and melted in my opinion and could explain why the arms are fused into the torso I mean i know nothing about this science stuff but just based off of its look im guessing thats it

    • @SilvaDreams
      @SilvaDreams 6 ปีที่แล้ว +38

      Considering the amount of heat the process would create it would boil it's own cells as they regenerate thus destroying them in a larger number than it could create them.
      Not to mention rapid cellular splitting would also increase the likelihood of cellular mutation meaning it would give itself cancer which would again end up being detrimental the more damage it had to regenerate from.
      But this is sci-fi so that is all kind of tossed out the window specially it just magically regenerates mass from nothing. A hunter/regenerator is essentially a biological zero point energy source.

    No. Actually, everyone was affected by the Marker signal. It's just that lesser intelligent people heard the signal as noise which drove them insane over time. The more intelligent people experienced more advanced stages of the dementia, such as seeing visual and audio hallucinations of their dead relatives and sometimes even the Markers and Necromorphs. The lesser intelligent people were used as biomass for a local Necromorph invasion and the intelligent ones were left alive (sometimes) so that they can begin to recreate the Markers and spread the infection indirectly.

    • @RoanokeGaming
      @RoanokeGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      For sure man, I do say it affects the less capable first mentally then it begins to affect the more intelligent, if not then I misspoke lol you seem to be up on the lore, I've always wondered, why is it in dead space 2 when you destroy that neuron in your own brain, does that stop the dementia process? Couldn't another neuron just be converted?

    • @deadinspace7188
      @deadinspace7188 6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Roanoke Gaming I believe it stops the dentis process but not the marker signal as seen with Dead Space 3 Awakened when Isaac and Carver are still prone to getting dementia even after defeating their dementia respectively in Dead Space 2 & 3.

    I like to think The Hunter was actually Harris, one of the Aegis 7’s colonist who had gone extremely violent from the signal of Marker 3A and was brought to the Ishimura for extensive watch.
    Later, Dr. Mercer, a Unitologist who’s already against Isaac, decides to experiment on Harris, and possibly taking tissue samples from him, and being the one responsible for the creation of The Hunter.

    Remember to keep ya life bar full so he wont finish you.
    Now what you do is he will try to grab you and you can push him back and walk towards him he will try to grab you again them you push him back do it until ya push him to the fan he will be cut into very small pieces and you never see him again.

I just recently discovered your channel and I'm having a blast watching your videos! I'll watch just about anything Dead Space related. I loved this game. I've watched TENS of hours of other people playing it and played it myself TENS of times (at least 20) I played Dead Space 2, probably 7 or 8 times, but I never made it through Dead Space 3. I found the weapon system difficult and the game confused me. I always planned on going back to it, and I WILL, I'm just on a huge Destiny kick right now. Thanks for the great and insightful videos. let me put it this way. To kill a regular Earthdwelling human with a regular flamethrower would require about 10 seconds of direct flame, and that would be just to kill them. Destroying them completely would take several minutes, at least. Now a regular Earth jet engine at full power will vaporize in a LITERAL heartbeat, even if you're standing 15-20 feet behind it

    I think the reason Dr Mercer was able to create the Hunter is because The Hive Mind saw him as a worthy Allie or a worthy servant to be allowed to live and also agreed with his work to create the ultimate/unkillable necromorph and also when Dr Mercer talks to Isaac Clarke in chapter 10 face to face on one of those I guess it's called a face to face communicater there was a flying infector that hesitated and let him talk to Isaac Clarke on the face to face communicater so I would say The Hive Mind let Dr Mercer her worthy Allie/worthy servant have his final glory of working with her and her army of necromorphs and my favorite necromorphs are the super slashers because they have those yellow eyes and I think red eyes to and also because they hunt in packs like pack hunters and I think green eyes to and the way they move is also interesting and there purplish/brownish/blackish color and there saliva coming out of there mouths a sign that they are hungry and ready to make Isaac Clarke the main course or anyone else the appetizers or the dessert or the snack😀.

    • @Muzzy3645
      @Muzzy3645 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Roanoke Gaming i think that the theory on how the necromorph is ‘reconstructed’ is somewhat part of this because maybe when the hunter was made into a necromorph it was ‘coded’ to make stem cells. This could be the cause of rapid regeneration

      Roanoke Gaming the corruption is the fleshy growth in heavily infested areas of a necrmorph outbreak(dead space wiki) also the hunter was created by inserting a piece of corruption into a person as said in the video. Due to the corruption having regenerative abilities the hunter also gained this ability to regrow limbs from the corruption sample inserted Into it when it was human.

      Twitchers are worse. At least the Hunter/Regenerators are loud and have average speeds making them an annoyance, but pretty easy to deal with and spot. They are really only threats in enclosed spaces. Even when being attacked by hordes of necromorphs the Hunter/Regenerator is simple, shoot out a leg stasis as they begin to fall, move and kill other necromorphs.

    I believe that a necromorph stowed away on a shuttle from igious7s infected and over run mirning command base, and despite a lock down of the Ishimora it crashed its way into the landing bay and the necromorph escaped, infecting the crew. So while the psychosomatic waves leads to murders and madness, the true infection didnt start till the stow away necromorph. Most of it was covered in the first dead space movie "Dowfall"

    I'm interested in the exact differences between DS 1's Hunter and DS 3's Regenerator. From a quick glance the main difference I could see was that the Regenerator seemed to have more powerful looking mandibles on its lower jaw. Aside from the Marker symbol carvings however, I'm not sure what else differentiates them.
    Also to note, it's safe to say that the glowing eyes is something the Marker does, the Waster in Dead Space 3 also has glowing eyes, and if one of those little crawling enemies gets down Isaac's throat, then he'll get glowing eyes as well.
    Also you should do a video on Dead Space 3's Waster if you haven't already.

    The idea of living tissue is how the hunter is made is a mute point when you start DS2. The guy who rescues you is alive when infected and he didn't turn into a hunter, even though his infection was done while he was very alive....and you were forced to watch it face to face.

    • @RoanokeGaming
      @RoanokeGaming  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      still not the same mode of infection however, the guy turned in front of you was injected with that yellow explosive liquid. That caused rapid change into a slasher. A Hunter is made by implanting necrotic tissue directly into the brain. Different modes of infection for different creatures

    you talked a bit about the cells of the hunter having the "memory" to regrow his limbs,something that humans dont have since we dont regrow any lost appendages
    but necromorphs already "grow" new limbs using the existing biomatter,so wouldnt this be a simple thing to do since they all aparently have the memory to grow any limbs they want on their cells,or more likely,the marker sends them signals of how they should morph looks like?

  • @loganbaxter4685
    @loganbaxter4685 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Based on your theory of the cells still being alive in a way, could that mean the host may be alive, but in a predatory state of awareness controlled by instincts.

  • @saikoentertainment8075
    @saikoentertainment8075 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Lizard brain surviving could actually be the cause of the regrowth of limbs as you see these traits in quite a few reptiles. Basically I think the disease locked onto the dna their and boosted it. It would also explain the ways in which it hunts as predator reptiles are known for stalking prey once they have "locked" onto it.

    I always assumed it was like a type of cancer where the cell reproduction mutated to the degree of rapidly multiplying, but instead of tumors the marker was able to use this to over drive reproduction to the limbs so I thought it was a combination of the subject having a form of cancer and then being infected or injected with the tissue

    Suggestion: Necromorph cells become similar to undifferentiated stem-cells so the hunter because being necromorph tissue being introduced into a dying (but still alive) person then restarts the mitosis and differentiation process of the necromorph cells which lets it regrow its limbs and such.

    Following the freezing of the Hunter I think that narratively it would have been a cool to have the Necromorph that's launched and discovered by The Valor be the Hunter because that way makes a lot more sense for the Hunter to take over the ship instead of a single Slasher. Because while the slasher could eventually be taken down by pulse rifle rounds and can not infect other corpses on it's that we know of, Nothing the marines have can take it down and the Hunter is relatively smarter so once you thought you got rid of it it comes back on the Ishimura after the Valor crashes down.
