2009 Buick Enclave Purge Valve Replacement

- This is the process for solving a starting problem with Buick Enclaves immediately following fueling. If your Enclave fails to turn over and continuously turns over without starting after filling the gas tank, this is more than likely the process to correct this issue. Never top off your tank.
This was a spot-on DIY video. You had a couple of thumbs down people. I don't know what they didn't agree with. This was perfect. Literally a 5 minutes repair. SCREW 'EM! Thanks man!

Excellent video! Thanks for telling me about the push button on the electrical connection. I would have missed it. I really appreciate you telling me what size socket to use. I’m 70 years old and prone to dropping things, so not having to check several sockets to get the correct size saved me from looking for dropped sockets. In that same vein, I put the oil cap back on while working with the engine cowl removed. Dropping something down the open oil filler would be a disaster.
Great video ! After learning I had a bad purge valve I called my Buick dealer and they quoted me $350-$450 "....depending on the location of the bad valve." YIKES!!!! Decided to check TH-cam !!!! I bought an aftermarket replacement for $47 at AutoZone (Advance Auto, O'Reilly and NAPA were all more expensive!) It took me all of 4 minutes to replace with a simple 10mm ratchet. Then AutoZone's tool lending program lent me the diagnostic tool to delete the check engine light error on the dash. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this great video !!!!

Omg thank you for doing this video! After replacing my fuel pump and fuel drive module I was still having the same issue when I would fill up on gas with a no start. After watching your video went and spent $46 on the part and five mins and it worked. I took my gas cap off before I started the car and put it back on and my car started right up and then tested it by taking the gas cap off while it was running and it didn’t shut off. So thanks for sharing it was exactly what I needed.

Great video. Buick looks just like mine. Was ready to push the Buick away from the gas pump a couple times. Looked up on Google the reason for it not starting after a fill up and found you're video on TH-cam. 👍

Awesome!!! I just changed my air filter and noticed the hose running to that was just pushed up against it. The inner tube was broken off inside. I've only have the car for about 6months and noticed it cranked for an extended period of time after fill up. This probably explains it. Thank you for sharing.

thanks bro you did contributed to someone here, mine does the same thing after putting gas on it will take a few seconds of trying to turn over, or we will sit on the gas station for like 2 minutes then it would turn over and yes guilty of filling her all the way because i don't want my wife to do it here self and not wanting myself to do it often lol

I already ordered mine . It does the same thing after fillups not so often but I don’t want it to get worse.Also ordered the PCV . That should take care of my Check Engine light.

Wat code did it have was it po455 large leak

Thanks for uploading the video. Just replaced the purge valve on my wife's 2012. Simple (for a change!) 10-15 minute job (at most).
Will the CEL (Check Engine Light) go off eventually on it's own or do I need to have that cleared?

Had this problem with my Ford Edge and same problem I go to start it after putting gas in and it would have a hard time or start then die and have to do it again and then be on my way. Swapped this out and no more problems

Not sure if you will get this. But that hose you take off, before the screw, after the electrical plug. What is that hose called? Mine broke…. And maybe you can help with this as well. At the beginning, your hand touches the silver thing at the front. What would that hose be called as well. I believe the silver thing is vacuum pump. My hose broke to that as well…

Hello Mr. Wright, I have a quick question, our Enclave is a 2008 and it is starting to act up...... when pulling from a stop sign or a traffic light or on occasion while climbing a small hill, the vehicle will hesitate when pressing down on the throttle. As I press down on the gas pedal, the car acts like it shut off on me but in a second or two, it then speeds up..... any idea what this could be? do you think it is something simple as a fuel filter that needs changed?
I see that I watched your video 2 years ago . Here I am 2 years later with the same problem.I have driven the car with the check engine light for the past year if it wasn't for the fact that I have to smog it this year I would just let it go but I need to replace it in order for my car to pass.Seems like the part I bought two years ago did not !ast too long.
