  • Hi all, sharing a stripped down version of a new song I'm working on - they all start this way and then synths/drums get added later :-)
CHECK OUT my original music on Spotify, Apple, Amazon etc and also links to all my other social media @ linktr.ee/splo...

Very nice! I know this isn’t the finished version but it got me wondering about your live performances - have you considered adding a vocal harmoniser? Something like the Zoom V3/V6, Boss VE-20, etc.? It then occurred to me, I wonder if it would be possible to use the FCB1010 to trigger a harmonising VST ‘real time’ during a live performance. I’m not even sure if it’s possible to use a MIDI pedal to switch a VST on/off, or the ins and outs of making that happen (if it can!). A VST would certainly be cheaper than a dedicated pedal. Just thinking out load! 😁

You have given me an idea :-) I actually have a TC Helicon Voicelive Touch 2 vocal effects unit that I run my mic through, had it for so long I'd forgotten it actually has a MIDI in on the back of it !! There is an actual foot pedal accessory that you can buy to trigger the unit, but as I have the FCB1010 already and the unit accepts MIDI CCs, note on/off etc I reckon I can use that to trigger different presets, harmonies etc 🙂. To your other point you can indeed use the FCB1010 to turn VST effects on and off, I have Guitar Rig 6 pro for example (which I use on guitar but also on synths as well) and I can program the FCB1010 to toggle effects on and off etc. The possibilities are endless !!

Brilliant! That's the thing about endless possibilities, it's difficult to dream up all the solutions, especially to things you didn't know would be nice/fun to have. It would be great to hear you bringing all this together. I saw someone on TH-cam playing guitar through the Zoom V6, which he switched on/off for harmonies, or unison, with his foot, and it made me wonder about your FCB1010. The Zoom V6 only has three foot switches, but with your FCB1010 and CC on/off you could have a lot more options triggered from your TC Helicon Voicelive Touch 2, VST, or whatever you link too. Awesome! That's all your spare time sorted for the next month! 😁(sorry!)

@@davidb_bitsbobs Really got me thinking now 🙂I have a spare out on my MIDI Merge box that the FCB1010 is connected to, so I can run that to the MIDI In on the TC Helicon. Which means I can control vocal effects on one bank of presets within the FCB1010 and control scenes and sounds etc on the MODX with another bank, whilst using the foot pedals on the FCB1010 to control the superknob or other modulations parameters and can even set up another bank of presets to trigger notes or chords on another synth and maybe another bank to turn effects on and off in Guitar Rig Pro.........My mind is blown !! (I may have to work on my foot dexterity🤣)

Yep - got an extra midi cable and now have the FCB1010 connected to the Voicelive unit and can change vocal effects, harmonies etc on the fly with my feet (there's also a built in vocal looping function that I've not really used much that have also programmed the FCB1010 to control which could be interesting 🙂)

Awesome! That sounds like a future TH-cam video to me! 😃 I’d definitely like to see how you’ve set things up. It could also double as a review of the TC Helicon Voicelive Touch 2. I see it’s quite expensive but I’d probably push the boat out if it can do good harmonies, and easily controlled via MIDI. You might find that being able to access different options with your feet will be useful for your live set at the pub. All the best, David
