    Excellent tutorial! I appreciate how she provides several definitions of key words to facilitate comprehension of the directions (example: "fan out" and explaining it as "hammer"). Very thorough, concise, and engaging! I can now finally make consistent paddle headpins. Many thanks!

    Very nice tutorial! Is it OK to use German style wire for head pins? I'm a beginner - not up to using sterling silver just yet.

    Love this...what is the weight of the wire; does it matter ?

      Sandra is using 18 and 20 gauge dead-soft wire in this tutorial, but you can use any gauge you'd like. However, keep in mind the size of the gauge in diameters versus the size of the hole you'll be passing it through. You'll want to choose a gauge that the bead hole will accommodate. Is there a video you have about how to SHARPEN the wire? I wish my wire to be sharp, with points, so I can create hatpins? I have stoppers, but I wish to make my wire into the pins? Can you help? Thank you! :) Happy 2022!!!

    What size and hardness of cooper wire is best for making head pins? Dead soft or half hard?

    You fail to mention the gauges you should use.

    • @FireMountainGems
      @FireMountainGems  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Jan. Head pins can be made with any gauge. We wanted to show the technique so that if someone wanted to use 16 gauge or 26 gauge, they would know the technique. Now, standard head pins are typically around 20-22 gauge. Maybe that's what you were looking for?

      Making decorative headpins from wire is very popular. If you're looking to see how to make a traditional headpin, such as a ballpin, we have a video for that here: th-cam.com/video/acFIcYBYzlA/w-d-xo.html.
