Impeccable technique, glorious voice, tasteful decorations. In a photo finish I think Anthony Rolf Johnson's interpretation of this beautiful aria fractionally noses ahead via the latter's inventive cadenza in the da capo which for me (mixing my metaphors) puts the icing on this other cake. Go compare.
I agree with you completely. Anthony Rolfe Johnson is my all-time favorite tenor in this repertoire, and he is in a class all his own. That said, I'm also very fond of Richard Croft. Both are well represented on my TH-cam channel.
