This aria is so often sung in a starchy concert setting. How invigorating to see it for what it is - a poignant love song in which Jupiter wants to give Semele paradise on earth.
This is the most beautiful rendition of this piece I have seen or heard in my life...
Bravo
you re right, others I listened were not even closed
So beautiful. Really Handel at his best and the singer...is doing his very best too
Such beauty. What a wonderful interpretation and presentation.
Wow lovely
Simply sensational.
Hermosa Aria.
Such love. Never seen this performed like this before.
superbe !
who is the singer- i thought his first name was brinter but can't find out anything about him --that voice- my local 96.3 play this piece frequently and brought me to tears the first time i heard thisversion
Rob Murray
Oh pick that girl up! Hurry! That guy might get her! Hurry! Hurry and help her!
And can't you just see her winding him round her little finger. Slug
Why is he wearing driving gloves?
It’s a nod to him taking on human form so his God-like form doesn’t burn her to a crisp. We felt gloves were a good symbol of that protection.
What an odd production - and what on earth is Jupiter doing wearing driving gloves?!
Lovely singing but the production left them stranded.
I've never heard a better version! This aria is so beautiful, but the nuance in every single note here...the orchestra and tenor are in complete lockstep on not just the musical but the emotional level. And the acting is tremendous. Is it at all possible to find the full opera and buy a copy? Amazing
The great and good mr . Handel. From where shall there come another ?
So calming in these fraught days.....hoping you can soon sing for audiences again.
Thank you so much.
The aria was caressed beautifully by the tenor. Thank you for this performance.
Best rendition I've seen for this song...Very lovely
Thanks for this beautiful music. The singer is just marvelous in his rendition of this opera, such passion, such beauty in his voice.
How I wish to perfect this like this.
in days of "yore". this piece. was often used at graduation at many schools-. the words. are important as to giving advice to young people going out into the world.
I’m back again in 2023 to enjoy this magical rendition
💕Beautiful. I have incorporated this song into my prayer routine - especially when travelling.
Beautiful......altogether
Mr Frederic himself would have approved
Lovely voice but why does the woman need to lie down
Beautiful ❤️️
Thank you! 😊
Wow lovely
❤
A couple of candles, maybe a torch, would have come in handy.
Who needs a torch when you have a seraphic eagle called Jupiter guiding you? 🦅
Intonation?
Impeccable, what were you listening to?
He has one of my very favourite tenor voices....
Maybe he is talking of high G in the B part which is clearly too high (and aaaall) and sounds like a A flat. All the rest is rather excellent.
Awful production.
