I applied this to my game last week and this week, previously I shot high 80’s, but the first week using this I shot 84, then this week shot 78, thank you for this tip. Has been very helpful
Hello Clay, I would like you to prepare a video on golf course managment. Like how to set up on the tee depending on where the trouble is, laying up to your strength distance, etc
For a long time, since the ball was placed just inside my lead foot, I would (unintentionally) open my shoulders because it felt like I was square to the ball. So, my feet would be aimed correctly, but I was twisted so I felt like my torso was perpendicular to the ball. My brain wanted the ball centered, not forward. I forced myself to feel like I was swinging inside out, but my brain still told my hands to keep the face open, because that felt like it was square. What finally helped, was I took an open stance with my feet, which encouraged my torso to align correctly. My brain was finally satisfied.
Thanks for sharing! Getting more tilted away from the target with your spine may help too. This allows you to get the shoulders and feet square. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Thanks Clay for another great video! I was always taught to pick a spot approx 12 inches in front of the ball in line with my target in the distance. I will then put my club head down in line with the spot and then take my stance. I will then check my toes, knees, hip shoulders and most importantly my eyes. I think that alignment is the most difficult thing for us amateurs to get constantly correct. I have been know to hit a lot of great shots to the wrong place.
Clay I do one thing different for aligning my driver.I pick a spot on the grass and put my tee in back of that spot and then when I square up I really don’t look up any more I found that when I look up I’m second guessing what I just did It always looks different when you look up trust what you did
Mr. Ballard, in reference to your right shoulder tilt off the the tee. Do you recommend this for iron tee shots and shots from the fairway/rough? Thank you
Hello Clay; thanks for your video. These days I'm struggling a lot with alignment because if I want to hit it straight but going to the right, I adjust my feet but still keep my body more to the left ad a lot of hooks are coming out.. would you recommend to practice with an alignment stick or just to keep aiming to the target and adjust my body "day by day"? Is there any mental drill to easily sync those two? Hope to hear from you and thank you again!
I would recommend buying a really long rope and using it as an alignment aid on the range. I'm talking a rope as long as you can hit the golf ball. You can put the rope parallel to your target line and hit by the side. It's helped me a lot to improve my target awareness and therefore swing better cause I know where to move and in which direction to move the club and where the face should be aimed to at impact
But would you move the foot more toward the ball with a hybrid 4 or 5. NOT the middle of your feet. I am having issues going from a iron to my hybrids.
Hi, you can move it slightly forward but all shots hit off the ground can be played from the same place (slightly ahead of the middle) if you want simplicity. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
I had this problem for a long time! On long shots, but also on "pitching" or "chipping" approaches! The problem was that all my balls went where my shoulders were aligned The solution I found was to only move my hips to the left and my shoulders remained in their initial positions. This allows me to have enough slope in the driver and irons, but also to stay straight. Do the test in your garage or elsewhere, and watch your shoulder placement! First test take an address as you usually do on the course, i.e. for +/-80% you lean the right shoulder or raise the left shoulder, once you have taken the position stick a club along your shoulders and just watch where they are aligned. Then do the same thing, only projecting the pelvis forward and check your shoulders again! See for yourself ... ! Forgive my mistakes, I don't know Shakespeare's language very well, but rather Molière's.
Cheers for the Video clip! Excuse me for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a google search)? It is a good one off product for revealing an effortless golf swing technique minus the normal expense. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend at very last got great results with it.
Hi Glenn, the key to lining up the shoulders correctly is to have a little spine tilt away from the target at address. Hope that helps. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
I think I saw that about half of them are open right now and more are opening. Some states mandate they stay closed and some don't. They are allowed to stay open here in Florida but you must practice social distancing while you play. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
I think if Clay decided he wanted to go pro again he could. He would just have to practice a lot. He may not make it to the PGA Tour but could definitely play mini tours. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Hi, the point Clay was trying to make is that you can hit a draw with an open stance. It's easier to hit a draw with a closed stance though. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
All of these videos are great but the problem is most of us can’t turn our bodies like you guys do. How about a video on stretching and getting our bodies to the point where we can do our swings appropriately.
Hi David, part of it is that we are not experts in stretching. The other part of it is because that's not typically the reason. Clay is not flexible either. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
I cant wait till my shoulder heal from surgery and all this virus stuff is over so I can go golf, I'm not going out before cause I'm not further going to spread the virus like some dumb people out there.. smh just stay inside for awhile and get the stuff over sooner, not that hard to figure out lol
@@TopSpeedGolf no problem, happy to help and maybe stop some idiots from further spreading the disease like it already has doubled since they started opening alot of stuff up lol
I’ve seen hundreds of golf coaches on TH-cam and your videos are by far the clearest and best I’ve seen. Thank you for making these videos!
Wow, thanks!

Dang! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for some reason the way you explain things makes a lot of sense
Clearly you are the SAVANT of golf instruction! Always enjoy your work.
Thanks 👍
The looking at the target tip is great.

Hi Daniel, you are in luck. We already have videos that cover this. Go to our channel and search "strategy." Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
What a fantastic video. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What do you think about the stack and tilt method of golfing..
I love how he started off with saying find YOUR SWING! I hit straight drives with and open stance and thought I was messing up
Thanks for watching! Play well!
I have been focusing on aiming at target with my club face and lead shoulder. Not aiming at flag but reference point in the distance of the flag.
Thanks for sharing!
I aim my shoulders way right (for a right handed golfer) and have a outside in path. Could the shoulders bring too closed promote an out to in path

I put with a line on my ball but use more of a T shape so my face is square. I also do this for my driver which helps a ton

Great idea cheers😎👍🏻
what a great video!
Thank you!
Aiming the feet is easy with an alignment rod. Aiming the clubface is easy with an intermediate target. I have trouble aiming my shoulders correctly.
Hi Glenn, the key to lining up the shoulders correctly is to have a little spine tilt away from the target at address. Hope that helps. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Can you make some content on breathing techniques and how relaxed someone should be in their grip, arms, etc.. before and during a swing. thanks
Hi Jon, thanks for the suggestion. Hope you're playing great!
Hi Clay, can you do a video on long Iron vs. Short Iron? thanks.
No difference other than one is longer than the other. I would play them the exact same way.
hola!!! la verdad increible video me encanto aguardo por el proximo grabación me retiro les envio cariños agradecido
Thanks!
Are golf courses open in the states? In europe they are all closed due covid 19

I hit really good today, but all my misses were to the left. Perfect time for this video.
Perfect!
Great !
Thanks!
My biggest issue is with tee boxes that aren’t aligned with the fairway. It messes with me.
Thanks for sharing!
Clay, do you play good enough ball to join the tour if you wanted?
I think if Clay decided he wanted to go pro again he could. He would just have to practice a lot. He may not make it to the PGA Tour but could definitely play mini tours. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor
Cool! Thanks for responding Q
