Ryleigh I will let you know about the spicy and sour thing that you have it from sweet lady who sells you at Nepali 100 rupees is actually making from Dried Fruit Leather - Maadaa - (फलफूल को माड़ा) Maadaa is a chewy fruit leather or fruit rolls-ups made out of fresh fruits. The traditional way of making fruit leather is by first boiling the fruits, then mix with sweetener or seasonings, mashing until very smooth. It is then poured into flat tray and set out in the direct sun for drying for several days. Maadaa is ready when the fruit is fully dried and all the moisture have evaporated. It will have a leather-like appearance and chewy texture. They are removed from the tray, cut into bite-size pieces or simply rolled up into strips and stored in an air-tight container or in a plastic bags. It is eaten any time of the day as a snack.
Those temples on the way to pagoda are called "kul temple." Each caste in Nepal have such kul temples where we specifically worship our ancestors and its done once a year.
5:45 it is actually a secred temple of a specific cast. people usally worship in such place in between 2 to 5 years so thats why it is not maintained properly.

Glad to see you had a good time there though. Btw what you tried was basically lapsi (hog plum) candy.
At 6:45, he mentioned it is their Kul Deuta, Kul means lineage, deuta (similar to deus in latin) means god or, in this case, more appropriately a deity. So Kul deuta is a family deity that is personal to a group of families who are derived from a common ancestor. Almost every Nepali family has a Kul deuta. Once every year, every family gather and worship their Kul deuta. Fun fact : most of the hindu temples have priests who come from a specific community, mostly brahmins. However, the priest of the Kul deuta temple comes from one of the families that worship that specific deity. I find this very similar to the tradition of Patron saint among catholics in Italy and Spain, which they say has pagan origin.
The small temples that you saw on your way up, when you took that small detour and saw two temples, those are Kul Devta or family gods. They are determined based on your ansestary. Once a year the family will carry out a grand pooja with various festivities. The gentleman you asked to mentioned "blessing god" ... what hwe meant is that the family will carry out pooja once a year and take blessings from their ansestary gods. I am certainly enjoying your vlog. Wish you the best and very successful journeys .

However, the priest of the Kul deuta temple comes from one of the families that worship that specific deity. I find this very similar to the tradition of Patron saint among catholics in Italy and Spain, which they say has pagan origin.
Wow that is really amazing! Thank you so much for letting me know in detail 🙏
Wish you the best and very successful journeys .
and others are plum pickle and hog plum pickle you were eating, those are combination of sour, sweet and spicy

All we have to worm welcoming to nepal for all the visitor with great respect....
I'm a Nepalese boy watching from Adelaide. People of Australia are too friendly and cool, so are you. Hope you had great days in Nepal. Next time you go back in Nepal, you should do Annapurna Base Camp trekking where you can see the Annapurna ranges (as you saw from Pokhara) just in front of you so so close , it will be a life time best experience and you'll thank me later. Wishing to meet you someday.
