Brazil loves F1 and we've been waiting 7 years to have another pilot back. Botoletto still has a long way to go to get to the top, but this decision will bring a lot of money into the team, Brazil is a big market.
As a Chinese F1 fan i'm not even sad to see zhou gets dropped, what's the point of spending another year watching your home driver stuck in a fake F1 car that not even Bottas can push into Q2 or get any point. Hope they got some better chance in other event like leman or wrc.
Gotta say I am happy that Mclaren did not let Bortoleto sit on the sidelines for 3 years and actually gave him the opportunity to drive in F1 for a different team. I mean there wouldn’t have been any chance for him to
It's very smart from McLaren, they don't have to pay his wages, they can let him develop in another team and benchmark him against a great driver in Hulkenberg and because they let him go and get a seat, they part on good terms. Then if a seat becomes available and McLaren is still a front running team, he'd jump at the chance to come back if he's living up to his potential! Win win win for them!
Every driver eventually have their last race.. You need to be in car that can show the world you still have it in you to win. It's sad but the Sauber and his results couldn't deliver that. Even Lewis has to show more points next year then Sainz this year, otherwise doubt starts to sink in. But it wouldn't be the first time Lewis switched at the right moment.

I think to pick a rookie and not to pick their own F2 winning rookie Pourchaire is a pretty big dick move to Theo. If I were him I'd be looking elsewhere now.
Theo was probably part of the deal with McLaren. Sauber gets Bortoleto and McLaren gets Theo released from his contract to use in their Indycar programme

@@Rb1prodz-i3v Theo was the same age as Kimi when he started F2 and he finished 5th in his rookie season, comfortably beating Lundgard who's highly rated in Indycar. He was competing with Piastri for the F3 title as well (and didn't have a PREMA). Unfortunately, he just made the wrong academy decision. Sauber simply couldn't afford him and had to use Zhou's money to stay afloat. If he went with Alpine, he'd probably be in F1 over Doohan.
I think Zhou made a name for himself way back in that strange, strange time of Virtual F1 in 2020. He was always up there with Russell and Albon. I think that gave him the clout to get the seat in the first place.
Bottas has already signed as an 'ambassador' for Mercedes according to another site I saw. The same job that Louise was offered before he jumped ship to the Dancing Donkeys!
I have a very bad feeling about the Audi F1 project. Audi/VW are in big trouble atm, factories are being closed, thousands and thousands of layoffs. I don't know, but I have the feeling they will drop out of F1. I just don't know how the group can justify having this "fancy project" but laying off so many people and canceling a lot of employer benefits, etc.
Very bummed to see Bottas leave, Zhou I kinda saw it happening. By the way thanks for the video, I live in the us and it was refreshing to get f1 content again
Respect the best Brazilian prospect in the last years! This kid with a good car could compete and dominate against the best drivers in the grid 💪🏻 If sauber could bring a good car for 2026, this kid could make us brazilians feel proud in F1 once again 💪🏻🇧🇷
Bortoleto won F3 in his rookie year and is leading F2 (w/ 2 races to go) in his rookie year as well. The closest "comparison" would be with Piastri, not Pourchaire...
Opting for Bortoleto is a no-brainer. Huge talent, a lot of hype around him since he’s on a meteoric rise, and the team also immediately gets the support of 250 million brazilians. Which probably also comes with some financial benefits. The thing is… Is Hulkenberg the right decision? Because they are gettin rid of a proven race winner and a great qualifier by sacking Bottas. Or was he chosen simply because Audi wanted a German driver driving a German car?
Bottas was a race winner because he was in the right car... Nothing against bottas but Hulkenberg never drove a race winning car as far as I know of.... So I don't think you can compare them just on those stats.
@@tharealmb yes, and that’s the point of my comment. How do we compare the two? That is the question I find myself struggling with. And I fear Audi might have made the wrong choice because of Bottas’ curriculum. But that’s just a possibility, not something that I necessarily think is the case.
With Sauber being so bad of late and "Big" changes happening with Audi. I wonder what it would be like to get all the F1 teams together and to create an Ultimate F1 car, so you have all the best people working on one car. Then one year have the Ultimate Formula One Championship which would be whatever grid of F1 Drivers all racing in the same Ultimate F1 Car..... I know it'll never happen but damn that would be a hell of a season. Just imagine this season with everyone having a car that could fight the top spot!
DR was a waste of space. Money grabbing underperforming for years team hopper. VB has always been rubbish. Never got near Hamilton. George Russell is a lot younger and greener and has done far more than VB ever did. Good riddance to both.
It amazes me people still go on about Pourchaire. He only just managed to win the title in his third year in F2, and won one race all season. Bortoleto is leading F2 in his rookie season, and won F3 as a rookie last year too. He's clearly the better prospect.
Bortoleto was the best choice for the seat. If you have been following him since juniors categories you will know that. IMO he is better than the other young drivers starting next season. Time will tell.
The whole way it was announced gives me vibes of Oscar piastri’s alpine announcement. vague language, announcing when the driver would be asleep, and not really trying to make it too public to not give him time to respond and to maybe pressure him into signing. The main difference is that there is no real competition from other teams, so it must just be weird
It’s exciting how many rookies will be on the grid next year, intrigue up and down the grid… except at Aston Martin. Stroll is not only blocking getting a better driver in place but also at getting their own exciting rookie in. Just think how dire their outlook would be if they hadn’t got Newey
Its a tough call to not be on standby for a McLaren when it does seem likely that someone’s going to leave in the next couple of years, but better to just secure the dream and become an F1 driver at all. It’s great for McLaren too, Borteleto would still jump at the chance to drive a McLaren if needed but they also now have a good excuse to overlook him for someone else if needed
I am so happy that Gabriel Bortoleto has been given this opportunity, even if it is with the worst team on the grid. Kudos for McLaren for keeping their word and not preventing it from happening. This lad is a real talent. Won F3 in his first year in 2023 and won F2 in his first year in a massively competitive field. He deserves this chance for me.
Bortoleto vs Colapinto will sell about 5056 quadrillion TV subscriptions in South America, so there is a pretty good chance Sauber / Audi will also pick up some sponsors from the region.
I will miss Bottas. Loosing Bottas AND Danny in the same year is painful. But I'm also glad that there is a Brasilien on the grid. Next year's Sao Paula will be an absolute goose bump race, unless he turns out to be the second coming of Riccardo Rosset. I have no relations to Brasil, at all, but Idk... it makes me happy when the fans in Sao Paulo are happy and have some one to cheer for. But we also need a new Fin on the grid, pronto. Remember: If you wanna win, take the Fin. ( Tho I can live with Oscar, he is basically the surfer boy iteration of Mika Häkkinen, plus there's a guy called Kimi)
Why Gabriel Bortoleto in Sauber? He represents fresh talent for the team’s future. Alongside Niko Hulkenberg, the Brazilian will contribute to the development of Audi's first modern Formula One car, set to debut in 2026. Pairing a seasoned veteran with a promising rookie offers a strategic advantage for a new team. History has shown the potential of this approach. Sebastian Vettel’s early career illustrates the benefits of pairing young talent with experienced drivers. When Vettel entered Formula One, he partnered with veterans like Nick Heidfeld at BMW Sauber and Vitantonio Liuzzi at Scuderia Toro Rosso. This dynamic helped him grow rapidly, leading to his historic win at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix as the youngest race winner at the time. Another example is Brawn GP, which debuted in 2009 after taking over Honda’s operations. Despite being a new team, it achieved extraordinary success with the right blend of a seasoned crew, a proven champion like Jenson Button, and an innovative car design. Brawn GP went on to secure both the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships in its only season. Similarly, Audi, as a new team, can leverage the combination of Hulkenberg’s experience and Bortoleto’s fresh perspective to build a strong foundation, aiming for immediate competitiveness and long-term success.
Senna impressed all with Toleman, Piquet surprised all on Ensign, Massa on Sauber, Rubens on Jordan and Fittipaldi was a champion with his first team Lotus (Ok.. thats a little too much). There is hope for us Brazilians!
There have been Finnish driver for 35 years straight. And past 44 years only 2 year gap without a Finnish driver on the grid. Sad to see Bottas go, but better to get more hungry guys in the sport.
I hate that this is how Bottas is going out. He's def one of my favorites just from a personality standpoint, and I think he deserved better than Kick Sauber. Still, next year's grid is going to be an absolute show. I can't wait!
Didn't Pourchaire sign with Indycar already? I'm pretty sure I saw a story indicating as much. Then there's Colapinto who's value is now too high for a midfield team, so he wasn't ever going to Audi. Bortoleto is a good fit and I hope he does well.
If I remember correctly - Sainz haven't went to RedBull as they offered just one year contract + he was waiting for other offers in that case. Maybe it changed or he is willing to agree

Because Bortoleto is the most exciting rookie out of all of them that got a seat next year
Drugovich! Drugovich!
Drugovich!! Drugovich!!
When will Lawrence Stroll hear the fans screams!!
Lawrence will never park his son. Lance has a seat as long as he can maintain proper standards according to the FIA, to maintain his super license, and as long as Lawrence owns the team.
@AKStovall Newey effect may force Papa Stroll to let go of nepo kid sooner than later
Drugovich and Pourchaire may never get to F1. Feels like they won F2 out of sync with when F1 waa ready. It's not like Drugovich is short on sponsors.
@@richardn3387 I can guarantee both of them never will be in F1. The common thing they both won F2 from third attempt, which is not considered as top talent as we can see from past experience.
@@AKA87BE Maybe but other drivers are in F1 and haven't even won the F2 to begin with. Also I think it's safe to say that even a "medium" talent driver would be better than that likes of Stroll if give the opportunity.
4:28 What is this other news in the world they speak of? Certainly nothing can be more important than Bottas being dropped.
LET’S GOOOOOOOO!!!! Aqui é Brasil!!!!!!!! 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Bortoleto is pure talent, one that we, Brazilians, were missing for so long! Hulk is also a good choice, in my opinion!
Very harsh on Bottas but then again, he deserves better than driving a tractor
Valtyri was on the way out once Sauber signed Hulkenberg as their "old hand" driver
I think people are forgetting about Hadjar. He is actually a really good driver and is from rbr academy. He’s fighting for the f2 championships against Bortoleto now. If there was a seat left in rb I think they should at least consider him. Marko already started the comparisons between him and Colapinto
Hadjar is like a yuki tsunoda part 2, drives good but can’t handle pressure and swears a lot on the radio…
And no sponsor…not very likeable. Its a business
And he did’t impress with his FP
i dont feel hadjar yet, he had the championship in his hand, fast car, and then it just lost to himself, I think he need at least one more F2 run to see it.
also i believe if pourchaire performed as he did in his rookie season in 2024 he would have had a shot at it as well
he was 17 and was winning races and always at the front
pretty much like kimi antonelli
his junior formula success simply came at the worst time possible
Put Bottas in the Red bull and he'll show them how to drive alongside a world champion
And scoring points for the team!
Well he's better than checo
I think to pick a rookie and not to pick their own F2 winning rookie Pourchaire is a pretty big dick move to Theo. If I were him I'd be looking elsewhere now.
He already is.
Theo has no funding and not enough sponsors to their liking
@@Rb1prodz-i3v That's often a big killer of F1 careers sadly. If you ever hate Ocon for driving aggressively remember talent isn't always good enough.
Theo was probably part of the deal with McLaren. Sauber gets Bortoleto and McLaren gets Theo released from his contract to use in their Indycar programme
@@cg_2k72 and perhaps as a backup if one of Piastri or Norris leave.

Who's Borboleto, and why should he Vamos? No-one of that name here.
@fluffyfour He's only the Greatest Brazilian Driver since Felipe Nasr, and he should Vamos because he's de 2027 F1 World Champion VAMOOOOOOS CARALHO 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Bortoleto
We're so back! 🦋🇧🇷
lol, with Bortoleto? :-)
We all wake up with the news of Bortoleto here in Brazil. Still celebrating!
I like how they don't cuss and sweet the yet the quality generally good. It's entertaining. I wouldn't have an issue listening to them around my nieces and parents 😊
As a fan of good wheel to wheel action.... couldnt be happier
Verstappen, Russell, Gasly and Ocon did not have many sponsors, yet they still got to F1. Pourchaire deserves a drive
But russel, gasly, ocon were in a better class of drivers unlike pourchaire
Absolutely 💯
@@Rb1prodz-i3v Honestly I'd rate him in between the Gasly and Russel tier if he is developed.
He's not max but outside of maybe Piastri and Antonelli nobody has that kind of hype and potential. He can win some races and bring in points he's not on the grid because of sponsorship and that sucks.
@@Rb1prodz-i3v Theo was the same age as Kimi when he started F2 and he finished 5th in his rookie season, comfortably beating Lundgard who's highly rated in Indycar. Then finished 2nd and 1st the next seasons. I think there's definitely a double standard when it comes Pourchaire's record.
Wow I’m so surprised.
12:26 Wasn't the same thing said for HAAS before the start of this year?
As a Brazillian, I'm SO HAPPY
Obviously the Sauber was secretly the best car this year and it was just held back by terrible drivers…. PFFT HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Brazil GP 2025 sales for the wide public start next Monday. That must play at least a little part in the timing of the news release
It was a great news! He show to us that he's different and talented.
Stroll seats needs to be available. These new rookies are proving that we need new blood on the grid.
In zhou's first race, he was in a car that was capable of scoring bottas forty seven points in the first handful of races
Yep, German government destroyed the Car industry
Very bummed to see Bottas leave, Zhou I kinda saw it happening. By the way thanks for the video, I live in the us and it was refreshing to get f1 content again
Respect the best Brazilian prospect in the last years! This kid with a good car could compete and dominate against the best drivers in the grid 💪🏻
If sauber could bring a good car for 2026, this kid could make us brazilians feel proud in F1 once again 💪🏻🇧🇷
We love Gabi 🇧🇷💚 It will be so special to see him in F1
Bortoleto won F3 in his rookie year and is leading F2 (w/ 2 races to go) in his rookie year as well.
The closest "comparison" would be with Piastri, not Pourchaire...
and Brazil is back to the scene!!!
They actually announced it two days ago but Sauber is so slow it took until now to reach us.
It's Brasil time 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 Vamosss ♥️
Bortolettos junior career is quiet impressive. I am happy he gets a seat.
I always think that the perfect pair is one driver with a lot experience and one young prospect to learn and compare with the first one.
Unsure how you knew but I was in the middle of laundry and was debating leaving the sheets for another week. I will wash them today.
First Daniel and now Valtteri 😭
In F1 nice guys do finish last!
We lost two Australians on the grid :(
@@RandomNPC001 I don't think that holds that well just thinking of Leclerc and Piastri for instance
DR was a waste of space. Money grabbing underperforming for years team hopper.
VB has always been rubbish. Never got near Hamilton. George Russell is a lot younger and greener and has done far more than VB ever did.
Good riddance to both.
@@suave-alpaca8412 gonna lose another if Oscar doesn't start being up there with lando
I think its great to see new people coming into F1.
From no South Americans to 2 in a year.
So excited for the 3 rookies.
Great video man! Can i ask you to make a video about Pourchaire because i want to know why he isn't in F1 now considering he's been a great talent
To be fair they have both been asked to drive shopping trolleys all season. Honestly can't tell how good pr bad they are driving
Bortoleto vs Colapinto will sell about 5056 quadrillion TV subscriptions in South America, so there is a pretty good chance Sauber / Audi will also pick up some sponsors from the region.
This season reminds me of Cars 3 movie when rookie slot in and perform suddenly everybody pick rookies
Will be interesting to see 5 rookies on the grid next year
14:23 we need to savour the last three Zhou P20 we'll see hahahahahha
Bottas 100% should be in f1, not like checko or stroll those 2 are as much use as a chocolate tea pot😂😅
Stroll strolling into the gravel at Brazil is confirmation that he needs to be replaced and quickly... he's just gonna cost the team money if not
Bottas can replace perez next year please...
Brazil had Fittipaldi, Senna, Piquet, Massa, Moreno, Barrichello and more good pilots. Thats why its remembered and feels right.
As a totally non Brazilian non bias opinion, YESSSSS
Why not last week in Brazil? Also, where are the sponsors on the line up post
Finally. The gp2 champion has a car just after graduating. And is a (likely) champion in his first year.
Voltamos!! 💚💛🔥
I am glad that Bortoleto was chosen over the others: He has a Talent that would otherwise have been wasted 😂
As a Brazilian, I couldn't be happier 🎉🎉🎉🎉
