The moment a driver gets suspended in any FIA event for swearing or criticising the FIA the entire field of F1 drivers should simply not turn up at the next race. The F1 drivers need to do this in solidarity with the drivers in less wealthy motorsports.
It’s not the swearing part that’s the most disturbing. It’s the fact that no one is allowed to criticize the FIA anymore. That is the point that makes it clear that that the FIA acts as a dictator.

Assuming MBS's frame of reference is based on the UAE's stances on swearing or upsetting leadership, this probably seems extremely lenient to him. Insane to anyone without that as their baseline, of course, but helps explain where this is coming from.
Not sure why all the teams aren't communicating with each other to organize a meeting with the FIA and put an end to this stupidity. The FIA are powerless when the teams are united on an issue and if the FIA still doesn't budge, it looks really really bad for them publicly (if it isn't already) especially when the teams take some form of action against them.

They started with doubling down on the charter (read: franchise) model to boost money, and now on the rules side they're copying where you can't criticize the officials. There is a rather straighforward way to deal with the issues of swearing, that doesn't involve drivers getting fined and banned: DON'T BROADCAST THE SWEARING! As what we hear isn't live, and we know they choose what they want to broadcast, all they have to do is say "he swore, we won't broadcast it". That would end the problem overnight - and wouldn't involve any panels, committees, or accountants. Or is that just too darn logical?
Correct, and the people who DO control the broadcasts need to take some responcibility for this, by allowing so much 'innapropriate' content to be broadcast because it's 'entertaining'.
Dale Jr lost a significant amount of points in 2004 for swearing in a post race interview, enough that a lot of people say he would have won the championship, it would be a real shame if this happened in F1
I also wonder how far this ruleset goes. Would it result in penalties or bans to drivers like Gasly, who tends to appear to squat down to pray in front of his car, on the grid before a race?
In my opinion the best thing the drivers could do is when asked a question is to answer with, sorry but due to new regulations and restrictions placed on drivers I'm no longer comfortable talking about individual races other drivers or the sport in general.

They should all show up and swear in each of the first three press conferences. They gonna ban them all?
Such a pity Kimi's not on the grid anymore for this one.
So suddenly we life in a world where Flavio Briatore is running the very Renault team again he ran when he was feckin banned for life because of race fixing, but poor old Eddy Jordan is now basically prohibited near any official F1 business, just because he's an old angry Irish lad and can't help him self but to feckin swear all the damn feckin time.
That's a 1 month ban for you 😂
8:25 no it wasn’t the fia who was embarrassed it’s Muhammad Bin Laden who got his ego hurt
In the GPDA open letter to the FIA last year the drivers called for more transparency in where fines are going and less fines and more sporting penalties
This just feels like the FIA looked at it and said, ' You can't talk to us like that; we'll just go in the opposite direction' with the air of a spoiled toddler
They are adults, adults swear when angry. The fia cares more about drivers not talking about their obvious numerous safety and running mistakes than this sport we love. They can't handle criticism
The silence in the press conferences this year will be deafening.
Every answer on race weekend should be this. “Great question and I would love to answer it, but article 12.2.1 prohibits me from sig true feelings on this matter. Next question please.” The press would go after MBS and FIA so quick.
Oh, and ignore MBS whenever you meet him.
Everywhere where you say "the FIA believe", "the FIA say", "the FIA this" and "the FIA that", it really should say "MBS" instead of "the FIA".
I think that wasn't allowed already, personal attacks for anybody, which is fair for anybody who isn't MBS.
No, it is the FIA. If you work there and you don`t stop working for them you are part of the problem.
MBS=Massive Bullshit
@@johanfeenstra8778ok, so a random line worker in a nestle factory should also be fully blamed for the atrocities the nestle company did?
If I work in the county council in a public sector should I be the one who gets shit for what the prime minister does? Be realistic…
Ponder the fragility of spirit that leads you to have to put penalty-driven rules in place so nobody says anything bad about you.
So this whole time the problem was not with general swearing. The problem was with bad mouthing the FIA.
In any sport it’s punishable to bad mouth the referees.
People acting like this is unprecedented doesn’t understand what a sport is.
@@paperplane-db8qfSo you're supporting this bs of not being allowed to criticize the governing body? You must have liked your life in Germany in the 1930's and 1940's.
No it was bad mouthing mbs
@@paperplane-db8qfnah you’re ridiculous
@harry4454 your opinion on athlete etiquette is irrelevant. Same rules as every other sport.
These people are paid millions for the privilege of driving a F1 car. They can choose sim racing or driving Ubers instead if they don’t want to follow the rules. 👍
They’ve actually succeeded in uniting all F1 fans for this being stupid enough to make everyone oppose it. Maybe some insane TeamLH guys will like it cause it might screw Max over, but then we’re also united in dislike and outrage at Moham Ben Sulyem who they have for abi Dhabi 21 anyway
I’m thinking of those countries where criticising the state is illegal, and the kind of power that gives them to oppress their people.
And sulayem happened to be from one of those, what a coincidence ;)
Makes you think the head of the FIA could be from one of those countries..
Oh wait..
MBS will be the last one ever elected to the position after this shithead leaves.
Yeah the UK.
@@CotyWhite-jm2ot You can't criticise the state the in the UK? I must've missed something...
Matt just said it "they are so concerned with being called stupid idiots, well STOP BEING stupid idiots"
I would love to see not only the drivers, but the fans protesting this at the circuits. Every fan with giant banners and/or t-shirts saying Fuck The FIA so they cannot show a single fan or grandstand on screen. Put a hoodie on over the t-shirt so they don't stop you going in with it and have no idea until you're in your seat and reveal it
👌💯
Or a boycott, in reality FIA will only listen if people speak with their wallets; cancelling subscriptions, not going to races and be outspoken to why. I've cancelled my F1 TV after the numerous MBS scandals last year
funny thing is, if MBS wear his traditional clothing, he would be penalized too. same for any religious displays or even mentioning.....penalty.
I bet he has some dirty laundry and if somebody from the circle would spill the beans, MBS would be forced out in seconds.
or you play the..."I am offended" card...see how all of this backfires.
If I were max and had a good enough car, I'd dominate the entire season and at the final race all I'd do is swear in every possible interview to get every point erased and then retire and move on to do something better... This is fucking ridiculous...
Why is it if you were max specifically, any driver that gets the best car next season should 100% do this
This just gave any driver the idea lol
@@issammelzi728 absolutely! Just wrote Max' name because of the history in the 2024 season with the FIA :)
@@issammelzi728 Why would a driver who never swore... basically almost all of them... at a press conference, do that?
What a sigma move that would be, he would not only lose the championship, but also destroy the whole sport after that 😂. I mean, just imagine the backlash, F1 would never recover from a PR disaster like this.
I think all the drivers need to hit up Kimi and Lance before the season starts and master the art of not saying anything during media sessions.
I can see Max just not speaking, not for interviews, NOTHING!
Is gonna get spicy 🔥
Or get a ban on purpose so he can see his new born baby, or as an excuse to retire early
Max probably : "The standard language for press is english right? So why not we try to swear with other language to cover it?"
Also max :" PUTANG INA MO BOBO"😂
He'll get a PR manager
The FIA will only allow this UNTIL viewership drops , race ban Max and Lewis who’s watching?!
The moment a driver gets suspended in any FIA event for swearing or criticising the FIA the entire field of F1 drivers should simply not turn up at the next race.
The F1 drivers need to do this in solidarity with the drivers in less wealthy motorsports.
And I thought the FIA couldn't get more stupid....
really?
@alancx523 no 😂😂
It’s not the swearing part that’s the most disturbing. It’s the fact that no one is allowed to criticize the FIA anymore. That is the point that makes it clear that that the FIA acts as a dictator.
Mohammed Ben Sulayem… what’s it take to stop this guy?!
Besides the fact that this is utterly ridiculous in the first place? Why are they not working on the real problems?
Like driver safety? The reluctance to deploy the safety car or VSC when it’s the blatantly obvious decision? What a joke. We won’t be talking about genuine racing all season no matter how good it may be because of this.
If the drivers or teams can't swear you better believe that the fans will
I feel sorry for Yuki the most. He's going to be on a month's ban before the end of the first Practice session
And Hadjar? Ticktum on FE?
What the fuck is "moral injury?" Talk about subjective. What a joke.
MBS needs to go!! He’s ruining the sport. No reason for any of this. None of the drivers should say anything during press conferences or interviews.
As a nascar fan this rule is the dumbest fucking rule I've ever seen. They are gonna punish drivers for having emotions and voicing their displeasure. Ben needs to go because this is ridiculous
4 point towards this
1) this is not a good idea
2) it was extremely smart of the FIA to drop this when Lewis it testing a Ferrari
3) this will not end pretty
4) is there a possibility that all teams would come together and make a statement by not taking part in the season to make them change their stance
Could we get to Australia and all the teams sit back till they backdown
so at 16:15 they are trying to bring in "conduct unbecoming to an F1 driver" which is what the NFL and NBA have where the Commissioner deems an action to be a "detriment" to the league they can suspend you themselves.
Matt casually getting banned and a 120k fine in the intro
If I were a driver, I would be looking to get the rest of the drivers on board with a "swear-in" protest... if ALL the drivers swar multiple times on the first race weekend, can the FIA really ban the entire grid?
Assuming MBS's frame of reference is based on the UAE's stances on swearing or upsetting leadership, this probably seems extremely lenient to him. Insane to anyone without that as their baseline, of course, but helps explain where this is coming from.
Sharia law dear.😉
It helps but it's still ridiculous.
Yeah but nobody wants Islamic laws forced on them. Whether it lenient for him or not makes no difference
Takes 12 penalty points for 1 race ban. Takes 3 swear words for a 1 month ban, a couple hundred grand fine and a points deduction. NICE ONE FIA
i hope they come out all cursing like sailors daring the fia to suspend them
What are they going to do, ban everyone? What a joke
Not sure why all the teams aren't communicating with each other to organize a meeting with the FIA and put an end to this stupidity. The FIA are powerless when the teams are united on an issue and if the FIA still doesn't budge, it looks really really bad for them publicly (if it isn't already) especially when the teams take some form of action against them.
some people have been comparing current F1 to NASCAR and INDYCAR when they became too popular for their own good, i have a feeling we are closing in on the implosion stage
Overt commercialisation will kill F1. This was obvious once Liberty Media took over
Honestly, they're just moving to the American NFL model... all of F1, not just the FIA. They started with doubling down on the charter (read: franchise) model to boost money, and now on the rules side they're copying where you can't criticize the officials. Honestly, F1 is going to be very lucrative for a good while for the FIA, F1, teams and drivers, but it won't be the same one that we grew up with.
When was indycar ever popular
@@neo1711 all the way up to about 1996. Indycar used to be huge. Multiple chassis, multiple engines, teams allowed to develop. Top level motorsport should not be a spec series.
@ INDY and CART split happened because of it
I hope everyone in the grandstands will sing something like:
F I A i'm fucking done
i breach the article 12.2.1
There is a rather straighforward way to deal with the issues of swearing, that doesn't involve drivers getting fined and banned:
DON'T BROADCAST THE SWEARING!
As what we hear isn't live, and we know they choose what they want to broadcast, all they have to do is say "he swore, we won't broadcast it".
That would end the problem overnight - and wouldn't involve any panels, committees, or accountants.
Or is that just too darn logical?
THIS! ⬆️ 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The fia doesn't control the broadcast.
So while I think this is ridiculous, it's not as simple as: don't broadcast it then
Or maybe we just get a decent human being as the president of the FIA instead of an authoritarian a-hole?
Oh no, I got banned.
Correct, and the people who DO control the broadcasts need to take some responcibility for this, by allowing so much 'innapropriate' content to be broadcast because it's 'entertaining'.
I'd vote for that.
I really hope we get giant signs from fans in audience that say something like F**k of FIA, so that they can't get around them in the broadcasts.
Dale Jr lost a significant amount of points in 2004 for swearing in a post race interview, enough that a lot of people say he would have won the championship, it would be a real shame if this happened in F1
America is weird with the no swearing on TV thing.
I also wonder how far this ruleset goes. Would it result in penalties or bans to drivers like Gasly, who tends to appear to squat down to pray in front of his car, on the grid before a race?
That fucking intro though 😂😂😂

Well lads, looks like we'll have an FIA war to add to the insanity of this year...
People who make rules to prevent criticism are surely to be trusted... absolute clown show
In my opinion the best thing the drivers could do is when asked a question is to answer with, sorry but due to new regulations and restrictions placed on drivers I'm no longer comfortable talking about individual races other drivers or the sport in general.
100% Max would intentionally get banned to fuck with FIA and retire without saying anything

Max: "Well, I think it's fucking insane. It's complete bullshit!"

Watch every driver try to force the 1 month suspension in the first race. And then the reserve drivers do the same thing
Poor Racing Bulls being without drivers come race 4.....
And the drivers should just replace some words.F*ck becomes Fia, d*mn becomes Ben, Bullsh** becomes MBS ... etc etc
FOM should look into forming their own governing body.. get the FIA out
Would love for the drivers to get together and agree to not speak a word during press conferences
The perfect protest would all 20 drivers in Australia swearing all the time. FIA would be in the difficult position to ban everyone and close F1 for a month. And also, it would be the most amazing race ever!
It is Australia...they could just say they are speaking the language of the Australian people 😎

the intro 💀💀💀
Drivers should not answer any questions. No press conferences, no nothing. Let's see how the FIA like that.
All the drivers should come together and agree to only answer questions with either Yes, no or maybe.
But that’s what MBS wants
Imagine a Grosjean esque crash and someone gets banned for saying oh my god
The seven dirty words are seven English language profanity words that comedian George Carlin first listed in his 1972 "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television" monologue.
SpongeBob made me believe there's 13.
I will not be surprised if we see something similar to the 1982 drivers strike this year, the FIA is so out of hand

The mastery of saying something to satisfy the media appearance requirements, while actually saying nothing.
one of the best intros so far? 💀😂😂
Absolutely insane. All drivers should refuse to respond with more than a few words to any reporter until this changes.
The FIA has lost them a F1TV Pro membership on me and I won't be returning to pay for matchfixed clownshows. Even Jean-Marie Balestre wasn't this bad in Senna's day, and he already was bad enough.
Haven’t paid for f1 in years it’s all about the high seas now 🏴☠️🏴☠️

@@surferboi61Sure, but it's still the best way to send a message.
@surferboi61 I don't give a rats ass about the seemingly separate entities on paper as they do operate as one to make F1 possible. Maybe Liberty and the FOM can put pressure on the FIA since the matchfixing regulations in F1 are purely for monetary gains anyway.
Different companies, but an avenue for pressure for sure.
I will not renew my membership and let them know.
I have always thought it was fucked up that they essentially cant criticise the FIA wtf is "moral injury" - i think thats a bigger issue than not being able to say fuck, that is a big issue but i do still think its the smaller issue
that said if you dont want to hear the drivers saying naughty words then maybe stay away from them on the grid/when racing/post race. If the FIA wants that media access then they have to accept that they will get what they get.
