Team principals should start withdrawing their drivers from press and media duties as long as this threat is hanging over them - a one month ban that coincides with a triple-header would be season-destroying, for a driver AND a team, and potentially cost the team millions in lost earnings. Also worth noting that these penalties are harsher than the ones for actual dangerous driving.

I understand that the lens is on F1 for this more than anything else because it mostly seems like a reaction to Lewis and Max specifically, but where this scares me the most is that this is an FIA guideline that applies to every single FIA sanctioned event presumably as it's part of the international sporting code. That means in all of the junior and regional series there is at minimum a €10,000 fine. You guys correctly talked about rookies being scared into complying with these rules, but it's even more dramatic when you go even younger into talking about literal kids (Under 18) in a junior series.

The swearing isn't such a big thing for me (still think it's stupid), but the fact that they can't speak out against the FIA is a MAJOR issue. This is the kind of thing that results in massive safety issues. One of the causes of Senna's accident was because the drivers didn't feel they could push back against the FIA, despite two major accidents happening earlier that weekend. The "insiders" have to be allowed to speak up against the governing body without fear of these kinds of repercussions, otherwise issues are left unchecked until they are forced into the light by an incident.

I will not be surprised if we see something similar to the 1982 drivers strike this year, the FIA is so out of hand

Absolutely insane. All drivers should refuse to respond with more than a few words to any reporter until this changes.

The FIA has lost them a F1TV Pro membership on me and I won't be returning to pay for matchfixed clownshows. Even Jean-Marie Balestre wasn't this bad in Senna's day, and he already was bad enough.

      fia doesn’t own f1tv. Liberty/F1 does.

@surferboi61 I don't give a rats ass about the seemingly separate entities on paper as they do operate as one to make F1 possible. Maybe Liberty and the FOM can put pressure on the FIA since the matchfixing regulations in F1 are purely for monetary gains anyway.

Different companies, but an avenue for pressure for sure.
I will not renew my membership and let them know.

I have always thought it was fucked up that they essentially cant criticise the FIA wtf is "moral injury" - i think thats a bigger issue than not being able to say fuck, that is a big issue but i do still think its the smaller issue
that said if you dont want to hear the drivers saying naughty words then maybe stay away from them on the grid/when racing/post race. If the FIA wants that media access then they have to accept that they will get what they get.
