- Aloha, welcome to the Hawaiian Airlines video! We’re flying on the backbone of their long haul fleet: the Airbus A330-200 on a +5 hour long domestic flight from Los Angeles to Kahului, Maui.
It is my first time flying on Hawaiian Airlines. While my expectations were the same as any other domestic US carrier with the addition of some exotic uniforms, I was wrong!
Hawaiian actually offers a complimentary service besides the Biscoff cookies of tiny snacks offered at other carriers!
The crew was also stunning and the most present in the cabin out of any airline I’ve flown. Every 15 minutes or so I saw someone walking by offering water and every now and then someone would tidy up and disinfect the toilet, just like in the good old Covid-19 days. That shows that crew take pride and care in their jobs and it was a pleasure to get to know some of them!

The “boarding propaganda” you refer to is meant to show the culture and beauty of our islands. It’s to help educate and teach outsiders that though we love having tourists visit, we need them to love and protect the land we call home. Every time I watch it I still find myself getting excited knowing I’m heading back to something special. I find it interesting that you only saw the negatives of it.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t see the negatives only. It is just veeery long. But I’ve been told they played all videos one after the other while they should have played them triggered at different stages.
And also keep in mind that those that fly there often or locals don’t need all this info over and over..
But that’s just my opinion!
I fly often on Hawaiian . I don’t mind the repetition, reminds me that I’m going to a unique place, the background music makes you feel like you’re now stepped foot in Hawaii and sets the mood like no other airline…

I love Hawaiian airlines. You are absolutely correct that they are very friendly and great ambassadors of the Aloha spirit of Hawaii.
Let's be honest, we never expected Alex sir to fly Hawaiian airlines. I stayed in USA for four years but never got the chance to visit Hawaii. I'm also surprised how there is so much demand for flights from LA to Kahului. This airline is cool and cool video again!!!

I fly HA out of JFK... i enjoy the 10+ hr flight going to beautiful Hawaii and even more thrilled knowing that I'll NEVER be setting next to negative and miserable you in the back of the plane! (Glad i make enough to sit with my wife and daughters in the front!) Mahalo

Thank you for another enjoyable trip report. Hawaiian seems like a very nice carrier. It's a bit of a shame though, that the LAX based crews rarely have a chance to enjoy the beautiful islands on a layover. Thanks again for this great report!
I thought the same about the layovers, kind of takes the whole point to fly away. But also some people just want to go home and be with their families, so I guess it’s ok for some!

That’s great you brought treats for the crew that’s what my friends do for interisland as well as same checking in at the hotel. They will treat you well cuz the thought of kindness gives them a good day.
Exactly. But I think more and more people are starting to do it as the other day the crew told me I was the second one to give treats for no reason 😂
@@TheLayoverAviation if you’re back in Maui please go to Home Maid Bakery to get treats for the FA reasons they will be permanently close in the end of the month one of our island icon. Also get some treats for yourself and others to bring home.

Did not expect you to be flying on Hawaiian! Definitely a different experience compared to Emirates and other Gulf Carriers!
Fun landing as well, really slowed down quick with Full Reverse Thrust and Medium Auto brakes. Hope you enjoy your time in the Pacific my friend.

Nice video - I had only taken Hawaiian on inter-island flights and had no idea they were so good flying to/from the mainland.

I've landed and departed Maui on both a 777 and 787. That short runway does make you think.
What I like . Entertainment system showing flight to Hawaii.
If short strips interest you, go to SNA your next time to Southern California! John Wayne is a handy local airport and very reachable.

I have booked AA later this year from Doha and am not really curious.. So far all my AA were amongst the least impressive in the US..

Absolutely right! In Australia you at least get some sort of service while in Asia and Middle East it’s a full service. At American on the same flight it was a biscuit.. Ah well, c’est la vie! Thanks for writing Dean! 🍺
Most of those videos are usually optional for the flight crew to play but preparing for arrival and Travel pono are supposed to be played right before the decent into hawaii. I don’t know why they played them all at once like that.

In over 1,000 flights I only had 1 crew rejecting due to corporate policy, and that is on Vistara. But regardless of that they were super nice and grateful to me!

I don't understand. Hawaii is a U.S. state, hence people traveling to the Hawaiian Islands from the mainland United States is considered domestic flight. Why Hawaiian Airlines departs out from the International terminal. Thats so strange and same goes for Alaska, Puerto Rico, U.S Virgin Islands, Guam, Northern Marianas and American Samoa.
This is mainly a function of gate space at LAX. I regularly fly American Airlines out of the international terminal in the early morning to far-flung destinations such as Phoenix. 😂

You do not get to sue for pouring coffee all over yourself anymore Mister. You are supposed to act responsibly and inform the crew around you so they can give you the proper procedure and so you can follow those instructions , Maybe they can serve you a cold one :)))??.. That way.There willl be no hard and unwanted animosity between you and the airlines...

I wouldn’t dare to pour it over myself, I meant if that silly table causes me to burn myself. And yes, I did request for a pillow or something to fix the issue so it was adressed..! I also think this must be a known issue that the company has been dismissing.
I wouldn’t sue but who knows, plenty of people that enjoy it!
I flew SYD-HNL and return last September/October in standard economy. I had middling expectations and it probably met them. Overall I’d probably rank them slightly below Qantas domestic even though it was an international flight.

First! Great video. Can't wait to see their 787-9s. You booked American Airlines to Dubai via LAX. I don't think AA flies to Dubai. Hawaiian is a really good airline for US standards though they are still far behind Asian carriers in terms of the service provided on a 6 hour flight.
Just a suggestion. In every flight video can you also please show the safety card?

I am curious, how much did you pay to fly Hawaiian airlines to Kahului? Is that your 1st time flying Hawaiian airlines to Hawaii and how is it?
Hawaiian was nice! And one way the ticket costed around $200 but with an extra $80 or so for the seat with extra legroom.

I understand the videos might be pesky but when visiting Hawaii, remember that although yes, it's a vacation destination, but it's also people's home. And there are certain things that tourists do unintentionally that cause harm, like swimming in the ocean with non-mineral sunscreen, which does destroy coral reefs, which is just one of the many examples. So although it might be annoying, it is important to educate tourists on what to do, and what not to do, not just for the island, but also for your safety.
Still, it was a great video. With great editing too.
You’re 100% right about all that, but the same goes for every single touristic destination in the world. I’m from Spain and the coast gets quite ruined by tourists.
So these rules apply for every place one visits, common sense. But that’ unfortunately rare..
In the next video why don’t you fly Honolulu to Tokyo NRT on ANA’s A380?

I give it whenever nobody seems busy.. So not during boarding or service. It’s nice of you to consider bringing them someone! I love it when someone brings me treats at work!
You have flown Qatar airways First class and also Emirates first class. I think now its time for the third middle eastern giant....Etihad airways first class on the super jumbo...
