@@natesamadhi33 height plays the biggest role in basketball, it’s not the only factor, but it’s the biggest, of course there are going to be exceptions
One of the main issues of Julian Newman is not his height or his father… It was basically that he never learned how to be a true point guard. Tyrone “Muggsy” Bogues was shorter than Julian Newman by standing 5’3, and he played 14 years in the NBA against some of the greatest basketball athletes of that time(The Jordan era) when the league was way more physical than it is now. Besides having good ball-handling skills, Muggsy had quickness, strength, speed, good court vision, defense, a good playmaker & scorer when needed, a high level of basketball IQ, a great passer, could run an offense, could start the break within seconds, got his players involved to score, a great teammate, leadership skills and most importantly, Point Guard IQ… Julian Newman has none of this. Julian's father just worked him out, took him through drills, and exercise routines… but never taught him or had the knowledge of how to train Julian be a real Point Guard. Julian Newmen is more of a “Showman”, then an actual professional basketball Point Guard. He’s more so focused on scoring and putting on a show then actually applying the skills & IQ in order to be a true point guard. I honestly feel that streetball leagues or Sports entertainment like the “Harlem Globetrotters“ will be more of a nitch for him rather than playing professional basketball.

Will I am Musiq: Very good points. Yeah...Mugsy was a little court general. He was small in stature but everyone respected him and followed his lead as point guard. He made things happen for others, rather than being a flashy scorer himself (though his scoring ability wasn't bad either).

It’s his height, if he was at least a couple inches taller he would be at bare minimum a decent d3 player. Such is life in terms of height he didn’t win in the generic lottery
It was his selfish playstyle of overdribblin, not passing until he has no more moves left and only looking for highlight reels and overall obnoxious attitude is what held him back the most, theres plenty of shorter guys that at least make it to college
His height hindered him but he just wasn’t athletic enough. guys like aquille car and chris Lykes had elite athleticism to go along with their handle and their small like Julian
The "Bag" culture around basketball is honestly kinda toxic and in terms of video game terms a newbie-trap for any up an coming hoopers out there. It's basically the equivalent of an aspiring pitcher using the most uncomfortable baseball throw and then down the line developing severe wrist and shoulder problems.
No amount of coaching, skill or dedication can eliminate the fact that he’s 5’6”. He was never going to be drafted with that kind of frame. Not these days at least.
This is the reasons: He was good against players when he was 10-13 cause everyone was either his height or around his height. Once the boys started growing from 14-17 is when his downfall came and his game never changed once from 10-17. He stayed under 5’6 while everyone else grew to 6’0+ against him. He couldn’t keep up once everyone else grew and grew their game so he started slipping after 13 years old.

It’s his attitude that made made him unsuccessful. He only focuses on flashy plays. He doesn’t defend. He doesn’t pass. He’s short. All ingredients for a disastrous stint in basketball.
Many people will say it's his height and I disagree because of guess like Nate Robinson, Spud Webb, Isaiah Thomas, etc. His attitude toward the game is crap. He's not focused on constantly improving his game, just whatever looks good and whatever makes his handles better. Every time he touches the ball, he's a cancer. His dad probably pampers him after every single loss.
Its called a double negative, he's too short and he has a bad attitude. Typically when you're too short you have to overcompensate in other areas, he doesn't have any intangibles he could overcompensate with. So no dice.
You can’t dribble your way into the NBA. That’s all he did just stand at the top of the key and dribble really fast. He’s a supersonic hamster dribbling to nowhere.
honestly Julian could’ve been a great talent but like mentioned in this video countless of times, his dad didn’t show him any discipline to become a great player.
Lemaun Tory: You hit the nail on the head. Everyone keeps saying "height", but the fact of the matter is there have been short players who made it (Mugsy and Spud Webb come to mind). But they wanted it bad. This dude clearly didn't want it bad enough to make the sacrifices necessary to compensate for the lack of height.
He never had a chance. He's too small and can't defend. He was good on a local level against regular competition, but not against any real competition. Let's face it, he couldn't never compete with a 6' point guard that can handle and defend. He should have tried D3 hoops, he could probably play there.
He's 5'6". No playmaking, no defense, and he's un-coachable. And the only one that he listens to is his dad. People are delusional IF there is anyone who believes that he is at least D1 quality. Lol.
I'm not sure height is the entire reason... guys like Chris Lykes, Aquille Carr, Darnell Rogers at least played college ball. Julian is nowhere close to playing college
Those guys could actually play ball. Julian Newman cannot he can’t shoot, can’t defend, can’t and won’t pass, can’t grab boards, can’t lead, and has a bad attitude to boot.
He isn't an NBA-level player. Just no. One of his games in Prodigy was against IMG where both Jeremiah Robinson-Earl (OKC) and Josh Green (DAL) were also playing. Guy got totally outclassed by players who are in the NBA today so saying that he's at that level is a huge stretch.

Winning the genetic lottery as a man puts you SOOOOO far ahead just from BIRTH. Being under 5'10 in America is playing life on Expert mode. Almost every major sport.. height is needed. NHL...NBA...NFL. Even just regular life. The average CEO is 6ft. Security guards 6ft plus. Leading men in movies are 6ft plus. 90% of all comic heros are 6ft plus. WOLVERINE is 5'3 but played by Hugh Jackman who is 6'3. I feel for all my short men. His father should've steered julian to soccer
I agree and I think things only get tough below 5'10." People online obsess over 6'0," but as long as you blend in with other men, you're fine (i.e., be 5'10" at least). I disagree with the movie part though. Wolverine was beautified in film for sure. On the other hand, Robert Downey jr is 5'8" and Tony Stark is well above 6'0." Peter Parker is like 5'10" and Tom Holland is 5'6" at best. Mark Ruffalo is much shorter than Bruce Banner. I'd say most leading actors are around average height, and their heights listed online are inflated also. Brad Pitt, Johny Depp, Tom Cruise, Robert Downey jr, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, Zack Efron, James Franco, Joaquin Phoenix, Tom Hardy, Jake Gyllenhaal. That's just off the top of my head. There's way more very famous leading men in the 5'8"- 5'11" range than above 6'0." Plenty of dead ones too like Marlon Brando.

Can't play. D has no offense except to launch it can't pass has no hesitate and can't get around anybody, only dribbles to nowhere onto of his height, then his attitude towards the game ends it all, no sportsmanship, trained wrong
Dude should try out for the Sharks. Honestly the pay isn’t so bad here if he can make it. Also the market is huge if he can capitalize on merch and stuff
Those hard workouts do not help you in any way possible and they can actually make you worse if your running a iso play people who do those drills will always say in the same spot if want to get better handles go outside and just think about new moves you can use on the court
My son's coach told me 12 years ago, don't worry about these so-called prodigy kids. All of the kids in their age group have not developed yet. But once they do, it will even out... He was right.
He was very good as a kid. But the failure was his growth as a player, and LITERAL growth, was stunted by the bizarre, insane workouts from his father. Just let him be a kid but he didn't. As a dad you might want the best but sometimes it's fine to say "I taught him as much as I could, maybe he can learn more or I'm too biased to see other things." But ego and pride, living vicariously through your kid, etc. ultimately HURT him. I doubt his father pushed academics, classes and grades. I dunno... I think it's SUPER sad. This guy will never get a chance to be 8 years old again. He'll never get another chance to do some things normal kids do in 5th or 6th grade even. And he didn't get to LEARN like a lot of kids. How often did he go to a library on a Saturday or evening? It's sad.
It’s straight up his height, it’s that simple. People can bring up Muggsy Bogues, but he had a 44 inch vertical jump, and for how high he could jump, he was like 2 times as quick, like Bogues was a literal athletic freak of nature. Even IT who’s like 5’9 was an athletic monster prior to his injury, and afterwards he’s fallen off completely, if you’re undersized you gotta be like 10x more athletic to make up for it. Baseline in the NBA, and really basketball at a competitive level in general, is 6 foot, and even then Ideally it’s more like 6’2-6’3. The smaller you get, the amount of space you need to create to get a good shot off goes up exponentially because odds are the guy guarding you is gonna be that much more taller and longer, and on defense you’re just simply a liability, guys today are too good offensively for that. At 6’2-6’3 you have enough height and potentially length (wingspan) to be a solid defender, utilize your body, shoot over some guys, etc. I’m 6’3 with roughly a 6’6-6’7 wingspan, and 215 when totally in shape, pretty explosive, not crazy fast, and just decent jumping ability. To a College or NBA scout, a guy like me is nothing special. A guy like Julian Newman doesn’t even show up as a blip on the radar.
You just argued against your own point. You say it's his height, but then give an example of a shorter guy (Mugsy - 5'3") who had much better success. That means it's clearly not height. The real reason is something you can't quantify. Mugsy had the heart, drive, and basketball IQ to make it. This dude didn't.
@@tizodd6 how many guys who are 5’3 have you ever seen be as athletic as Muggsy Bogues? Zero. And even then, Muggsy bogues wouldn’t survive in todays NBA. There’s no more illegal defense so he’d be swarmed by bigger guys in a zone, and he’d be a major liability on defense. You didn’t have guys who were 6’7 and bigger who could create their own shot and handle the ball at an elite level like today, he simply wouldn’t stand a chance, and even a guy like Steph Curry would have an entire foot of height on him where he could shoot right over him. There’s a reason there’s only been one Muggsy Bogues.
If we're talking skills he has it. Just the height difference make him less interest for the eye of the scout. Sad story of a player who want more but no one need him
Skill no, his cross overs don't create plays or space to go around his defender. Look at him vs KI and you will what I mean. He should be a steal, assist king but he's too selfish .
Lol, he was all hype. His dad clearly molded him using "And 1" streetball for reference. His attitude was encouraged, when it should have been reigned in. Terrible parenting and coaching from a dad who was nothing more than a bootleg version of Lavar Ball.
5’6 Could go D2, Juco, or D3. At that height you have to show college coaches you can run an offense. You have to display high basketball IQ. Which wasn’t develop
man should develop into an all rounder player instead, he just becomes a defensive liability and he really seeming like a very high risk to take by any team tbh. prove me wrong.
Those standstills dribbling workouts are USELESS… he “looks” fast but he couldn’t drive past any half decent defenders. Also, he still have a shooting from like a middle schooler.
His father is to blame for corrupting him with arrogance. What basketball organization wants a unskilled Muggsy - who doesn't know what team play is - and runs a 100 miles to the 3point line only to shoot 10 feet behind it. Rinse and repeat...🤮
a decent future vid idea could be the fall of NickTheBullsFan. Bro went from a decent sized 2k channel in the mid 2010's (and made a commercial I think) to having a 24 hour waffle making stream last year. His personality completely changed and I think he must have stopped taking some medication.

He’s not even 5’6 . Saw him playing in Venice Beach. He’s a good 5’3-5’4
Can't play. D has no offense except to launch it can't pass has no hesitate and can't get around anybody, only dribbles to nowhere onto of his height, then his attitude towards the game ends it all, no sportsmanship, trained wrong
dbg falling for a fake HoopCentral account saying he declared for the draft🤣🤣🤣
Dude should try out for the Sharks. Honestly the pay isn’t so bad here if he can make it. Also the market is huge if he can capitalize on merch and stuff
Those hard workouts do not help you in any way possible and they can actually make you worse if your running a iso play people who do those drills will always say in the same spot if want to get better handles go outside and just think about new moves you can use on the court
Noone's gonna draft a 5'6" scorer. Its that simple.
My son's coach told me 12 years ago, don't worry about these so-called prodigy kids. All of the kids in their age group have not developed yet. But once they do, it will even out... He was right.
NBA ?
I don't think even CBA wants him .
He should still appreciate everything basketball gave him bc it got his family money and they’re doing decent
Tried the "Ball" approach but forgot to knock up an Amazon built woman
@@tizodd6 Muggsy was a much more explosive athlete. Did you not read that part?
@@coolbreeze2.0-mortemadfasc13 Yes, but I also read the part where you said "It’s straight up his height, it’s that simple".
@@tizodd6 I didn’t say that, the OP did.
I’ve just never seen a player whose dribble is so jerky jerk but like his dribble never looks effective, it never creates space it’s just flashy
What exactly is the drill at 1:03 trying to achieve
Without shoes and the bun I think he's 5'2
i don’t know who’s copying who with the thumbnail format, you or SunnyV2.
It's not the size he's just too slow legs are 5 tons and everything is projected no defender is worried about him
Sounds like he got what he deserved. What a jerk!
His height alone bro that’s literally the number 1 reason
he did not go anywhere because is just not good. he was hyped up and that is the only reason you even heard of his name.
i was gonna say the same thing ward 2k said. u answer ur question in the first couple of seconds of the video. 😄
Honestly should see if he can go with the Globetrotters. Would be the best fit
He’s not good enough on top of being too short. It’s that simple
he throw the ball at my head, and theres gonna be a riot in that gym lol
5’6 Could go D2, Juco, or D3. At that height you have to show college coaches you can run an offense. You have to display high basketball IQ. Which wasn’t develop
Great video but my dude were you wolfing down a sandwich or something? 😂
man should develop into an all rounder player instead, he just becomes a defensive liability and he really seeming like a very high risk to take by any team tbh. prove me wrong.
W video dbg2
he's 5'5 IN SHOES
end the video
😭😭😭😭
lol 🤣😆😆
looks like a case of when your ambition outgrows your genes.
Those standstills dribbling workouts are USELESS… he “looks” fast but he couldn’t drive past any half decent defenders. Also, he still have a shooting from like a middle schooler.
Well if he has a "bag" then he must be better than Giannis! That's what NBA twitter keeps telling me anyway lmaoo
Height did not help him but it look to me like he never evolve beyond showboating street ball which can be effective in pick up game but not nba.
Bro are you eating while you're narrating. My God lol
Julian Newman should play street ball like the professor
If he worked on his shooting instead of hsi dribbling maybe he would have made it to at least college even if he is just 5'6.
His father thought he was going to be the next earl woods.
the cadence of your voice is one of the most grating I have ever heard
I see since he was a kid he has not learned how to dribble with his head up.
His father is to blame for corrupting him with arrogance. What basketball organization wants a unskilled Muggsy - who doesn't know what team play is - and runs a 100 miles to the 3point line only to shoot 10 feet behind it. Rinse and repeat...🤮
He should've tried out for a local junior college.. I mean, start there first
Basketball is far far more than how to dribble fancy. Looking at his game he is just not a good basketball player, never has been.
In 2k22, at that height, he would be the GOAT
a decent future vid idea could be the fall of NickTheBullsFan. Bro went from a decent sized 2k channel in the mid 2010's (and made a commercial I think) to having a 24 hour waffle making stream last year. His personality completely changed and I think he must have stopped taking some medication.
He just isn't a well rounded ball player. He is a liability on defense, he is not a play maker, he is not a floor general. The End.
Aint nothing wrong doing a 9 to 5.
If only Julian’s height matched his attitude
He should've played soccer he's not built for basketball
Horse racing
@@warstars8382 yooooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@ShuckyDucky09 lol its the truth. He has the build of a jockey, not a soccer player… Imagine lil 5’4 julian going up for a header against some 6’3 chiseled German? He would get put on his ass. …. What a missed opportunity
Short guy can't dunk! Never very athletic and not good enough at all.
