The Insane Hijacking of Japan Airlines Flight 351
Tokyo, March, 1970. 31,000 feet up in the air. Japan Airlines Flight 351 was reaching its cruising altitude. It had left Tokyo’s Haneda Airport no more than ten minutes ago, and was set to land in Fukuoka in an hour’s time. This was to be a relatively short flight, a domestic affair, but little did the passengers and crew know it was going to be neither, as Japan Airlines Flight 351 was about to undergo a harrowing ordeal.
On the plane were 122 passengers: tourists, businessmen, first-year uni students, doctors on their way to medical conferences-people from all walks of life-and including a few notable individuals like the high-ranking Pepsi executive, the talented bass player from the up-and-coming rock band ‘Hadaka no Rariizu’, and the Roman Catholic priest from New York. This was a diverse mix, with people of varied experiences and professions, but nothing could have prepared them for what was to come.
At about 7:30 am, as the plane was flying over the southern face of Mount Fuji, a young Japanese man got up from his seat to make a special announcement:

UPDATE: as of this year kento bento has mostly recovered from his health issues, however his wife had a child and they are currently sorting that out.
Edit-Yes the child is his and what i meant by sorting it out is that taking care of a child especially an infant takes presecedence

Not to rain on your parade, but according to articles online, the hijackers realized they were tricked and eventually the vice minister for transport offered himself in exchange of the remaining passengers.

For those interested about a synopsis of part 2:
The air traffic controllers, who were aware of the situation, intentionally gave the pilots incorrect directions in an effort to have them land at Gimpo Airport in Seoul, South Korea, where they had disguised the airport as being North Korean.Despite this, the hijackers quickly realised that they had been tricked, and Japan's Vice Minister for Transport, Shinjiro Yamamura, had volunteered to take the place of the remaining hostages, to which the hijackers accepted. They then proceeded to Pyongyang's Mirim Airport, with Yamamura now as hostage, where they surrendered to North Korean authorities, who offered the whole group asylum.

Actually, there's one thing they didn't do... and that was what led the hijackers believe they were in Seoul. There were no pictures of Kim Il-Sung anywhere. The South Koreans then managed to get one, but they spotted a US airplane on the tarmac, so the ruse ultimately failed and their work was for nothing.
@Sfs rocket lab But they manage to go to North Korea actually. The Yamamura guy decides he'll be a hostage instead. 2 days after, the aircraft is returned. So no deaths, all ended well.

@@valothebrute4028 For North Korean uniform they probably have plenty of them. But, for North Korean fighter jets, the South probably use their normal fighter jets, but painted in North Korea flag. The hijackers are kinda dumb for demanding a domestic airplane to fly into Cuba. So, they probably couldn't tell a difference between North Korean jets and Western fighter jets.
Ikr it must have been hard to find North Korean flags and North Korean attire for soldiers.
