    hey BG good news that tips will be back- the bike build should be interesting especially if youve gone full squish and not hardtail and the bike bags if you make some. that canal looked odd with all the algee or whatever it was floating around on it! be good to see some more epic adventure films too, have fun mixing the drone footage up with the 1st person views - get some epic lakes trips in too :) cheers

    Good to hear BG Tips coming back, think a "how to travel" piece would be useful - especially getting bikes on trains and ferry considerations. I know the Glasgow to Oban line, in Scotland, now has a dedicated cycle carriage (excited), but it's not yet been rolled out elsewhere.
    Looking forward to new bike build too!
    Finally, glad to hear all was ok after canal dump.....the scar, well that's just a great way into cycling adventure stories.

      Totally agree on the train front - can't believe the limited number of cycle storage options on mainline routes (struggled to get my bike back from Edinburgh last week) - generally 4 bikes in coach k ??

    I know that towpath well. I was there last Tuesday. Rode out to slough and back across London. 117 miles. A grand day out on the grand union. I don’t know how many times I’ve ridden along the section you’re riding but definitely not as many times as you. I’m already about 30-35 miles in to my ride by the time I get wher you joined

    • @barrygodin7538
      @barrygodin7538  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like a very decent long ride!!! It is wonderful smashing along a canal for miles, have done it up to Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol. No obstacles in the way and just let the miles pass by!

      @@barrygodin7538 yep. I’ve been up to brum on the GU. We rode from hunsdon lock on the stort navigation. Down Lea valley to regents canal then GU. That was 187 miles. It took us 20 hours. 16 of those were riding. The other 4 hours was spent mostly mending punctures. This was before tubeless tyres with sealant. We had 17 punctures between 6 of us. God bless tubeless with sealant 🙏

    Great to hear about a BG Tips come back. It would be good to have an episode on how to charge devices, and the merits of Dynamo Hubs and Solar, and the benefits.
    I have just purchased a Son 28, and will be completing my first ever wheel build around it. I am still working out the best way to charge from it.

    • @barrygodin7538

      Hi Nicky! I have to be honest, I have a exposure dynamo hub, but been using the Cinq 5 the plug, and only but had issues with it, to the point I have now given up with it sadly. Would be after myself if anyone has better recommendations. I think they are amazing for road use but off road and loads of water, not the happiest.

We've also been to Whitelee Windfarm (multiple times) and a farm near National Trust of Scotland (which in the morning we got woken up by cows nearly trampling on us).
