If a fight broke out and you know you have some valuables with you that could get destroyed in the process, naturally the first action you will take is to quickly secure your belongings and walk away from there but he decided to watch fight over his properties... That sounds like nollywood story, Mr. Guy, I think you got greedy and decided to explore your options. Thank the Lord for this court . Judge Fumi I love her so so much.
Let's say he did not get greedy along the way, if a fight broke out, if he had used his sweat money to buy the camera the first instinct would be to protect the equipment. He is just naturally selfish

It's hard to pay debts especially if what is borrowed is stolen, but making such a sacrificial debt though painful; God always favors the one who paid such debt as long as the borrower is sincere that the property was stolen. God will restore what you paid. I have however discovered that as soon as people borrow money from someone who was good enough to sacrificially lend to them, they use the money to solve their own problem and abandon the lender to distress. I have always been warned never to lend money to anyone even if he complains of his dying relative. But give a little you can as a gift.
Judge Fumi you are blessed. For me I can feel within me that the defendant is lying. The camera is not lost. It's in his possession using for his private business. He can be a 419 guy. He needs to be monitored secretly during his next camera event to see the type of camera he will be using if it'll not be the plaintiff's own.
I see opportunity for Insurance companies in a lot of these cases. Ordinarily, the owner should have his valuable equipment covered under insurance policy and could also require the borrower to purchase temporary insurance for the period of use. So if anything bad happens the insurance companies take the hit, not the borrower and certainly not the owner. That's how it's done in car rentals.
Will it work in Nigeria? People will start claiming missing stuff just either get a new one or get money back. I’m not sure how that can work in Naija.
Most us Nigerians really do have bad characters like that young man. He was given an opportunity by another man but he jeopardize the livelihood of the man with his greed. I believe he sold the camera to solve other things.

Hmmmm, only God knows what truly happened to the camera.
