We finally get to undergo BELF Dad’s journey to Outland with a snake woman, edgy demon lord, and goat demon alien monster thing. The chemistry Lady Vashj, Illidan and Kale share is immeasurable; the literal dream team. Until these characters and plot was practically thrown away in BC. Kaelthas especially didn’t need to become a villain, and as the last of the Sunstrider line he was exactly what the Blood Elves needed. Next episode, we storm the Black “Citadel”, wack a pit lord, then get a special surprise entrance from KJ. We all know the Scourge campaign is FAR superior! The animations seem to have gotten better/cleaner in the cutscenes. Not too shabby. Garithos remains an eternal d-bag.
yeah i agree. Illidan, Vashj and Kael were just such a unique team. the writters truely screwed up in BC. when i got the game for the first time i immediately fell in love with Illidan (just love horns and daemons, but he also had good intentions) kael last prince of a dying people on a quest for salvation (doesnt need much more to interesting) and Ldy vashj a Naga sea witch handmaiden to queen azshara and incredibly loyal to Illidan ( i mean the surviving naga even remained with the illidari in legion and BFA). you got a dude that comanded daemons, elves, naga and fell orcs in one single faction...doesnt get cooler than that
They did Kael so dirty in BC. He was the perfect parallel to Arthas and could have been his opposite. Instead they just made him a power hungry lunatic in the end
BC in general threw away so much of Warcraft 3 that by wrath all we had left was the LK. And then you can see Blizz struggled with ideas and delayed the Burning Legions return (last remaining w3 storyline) for like 6 years (cata, mop, wod)
@@Athelarius WoD felt like a hallucination tbh, with how many plot holes it digs into the lore with time travel and alternate timelines its better it gets forgotten for the most part 😂😂
I'm afraid I can't find the source, but I remember reading that the reason Kael'thas (and Illidan, for that matter) is so wildly out of character in Burning Crusade is that they had a second writing team work on that expansion. That team wasn't familiar with Warcraft lore, so they thought Illidan was the lord of the Burning Legion - basically, they confused Illidan for Kil'Jaeden. By the time the mistake was discovered, the world was already built with 'Illidari' demons, Blood Elves working alongside demons, etc. -- so to justify it, they had to make Illidan insane and Kael'thas a traitor.
The worst to ever come from the Humans. Hes just pure prejudice and the reason we lost the high elves to the horde, (aside from Blizzards marketing strategy in BC)

That damned quest is so freaking awesome! I was positioning my heroes near the gate of that mission and attack them even before they move. Good old times.

After seeing this, I have much more sympathy for Kael. He only wanted to save his people at any cost. In my eyes he is a good guy here. Too bad Blizz had to make him like a bad guy for the sake of entertainment. It could have been such a great character progression if they took time and effort to make it more impactful.

This games storyline was just amazing. The obsession Maiev has with Illidan just consumes her, just as Illidan and the blood elves become consumed with magic.
He should've fled to Kalimdor to live with Jaina and some of the High Elves who came with her. The two power duos (Tyrande/Malfurion, Jaina/Kael'thas) would keep the Orgrimmar from doing any aggression
I know this is 2 years ago but, the high elves this time around was extinct, and tyrande and malfurion are night elves, a much more powerful elven race.
@@AnnonHanot quite extinct. the "blood elf" was more of a rename thing kael himself came up with to honor the genocide in quelthalas, they are all virtually still the same. now, after they started feeding on fel magic and this changed them is another story. still, there were still elven population left at quelthalas trying to protect whats left and reclaim their land, Lorthemar was there as their leader, and there was a small faction not aligned with kael because they didnt like the idea of feeding on demons magic.
"Well perhaps is it is time you find a new path... to power and glory!" wow gj, Lady Vaj. you just sealed Kael's fate to becoming an end game raid boss and ultimately his inevitable demise.
i'm still saddened that people think he's such a bad guy.. but too me he's just a guy who wanted to everything in his power to save his people. He's been one of my favorite characters ever since I started playing this game 8 years ago and the Blood Elves have always been a race i'd always play :))

Fun fact. Garithos was such an horrible Grand Marshall that his campaigns empowered the Scourge so much it could advance to Kalimdor under water. and severely tested the bounds of the alliance as a whole.

It may have been this way in the original game, but I thought the point of reforged was to update it which appropriate lore. His eyes should have been blue. Thanks again Bliz.
i thought since TFT that the elven units started having green eyes. still, had this been a well thought and poured with care remake they would have payed attention to this little detail which wouldnt be hard to address for the campaign
If it wasn't for the fact I get to see Kael'thas again in the Shadowlands I most likely wouldn't bother playing the next expansion after that stunt they pulled with N'zoth and the Black Empire.
As a kid, I didn't understand why human campaign from rain of chaos lacks riflemans, knights and mortar team, but they got archers instea. Now, as I understand the story and the races distribution, I find prince Kaelthas as a very brave ruler with a great awarness for his people's needes. The dark path on which he had to go to save them is of an imense glory. Such a pitty that Arthas was simply more determined 😂
from what i've known about the shadowlands, even if we met Garithos Kael Garrosh and probably Varian i don't think they will remember at all about the shenanigans in azeroth. Souls are used like fuel there and i doubt the memory remained
I didn't fully appreciate the dynamic between the naga and the blood elves. It makes sense to me now why the naga tried to turn Zangarmarsh into a new Well of Eternity: it was to provide a limitless source of magic to the Blood Elves in Outland. Before this I thought they were just doing it for the lulz.

i thought Illidan was a regular NE, but then he himself absorbed demonic magic and became half demon. much more when he absobed the skull of guldam and grew wings, horns, and even bull hoofs (he was kinda turning into a doom guard) the Naga were all high elves mutated by the power of the evil lovecraftian god whos name i forgot after the sea devoured the old highborn kingdom. the blood elves were highborn that were against the whole demonic dealings they were doing with sargeras that later resulted in the sea devouring their kingdom, they all got banned feom Kalimdor however, settled in quelthalas and after milenia turned into the high elves, now renamed blood elves. so we have 2 mutants and 1 case of divergent evolution natural selection.
I would say a bit of both, but she made no pretense of what would await him, so I would say, she was pretty honest towards him. She said it would be a darker path he would be taking for him and his people if they decided to enter the dark portal and although they had no choice but to flee, it was Kael's decision in the end to pledge himself to Illidan.
ultimately, the naga were still doing nazshara or however you spell her name bidding for the eldricht lovecraftian deity they serve, however she might have sympathized with kael and the blood elves, as she said, they share ancestory, they both hail from an ancient group of night elves, and they both suffer from the magical addiction (which probably predates the sun well, the highborn NE were already debauching themselves with mana sources, and it was this desire for more and more power that let sargeras trick them and open a portal in their kingdom.) she was sincere with him with all she promised and suggested, however she didnt really said that was everything, and obviously didnt tell neither him or Illidan about her true objective and loyalty, she was however willing to follow through with Illidans shenaningans till the end likely because of a somewhat gratitude and respect for him and what he offered their people, including getting rid of the lich king which is a big enemy to everyone.
saving tyrande gave illidan freedom. over the cost of those illidan killed. truly right and wrong at the end of the day is just a mtter of perception insnt it?
I've met people in WoW tradechat hoping to see Garithos return in Shadowlands as a long dead hero, but watching this Garithos seems more like a massive asshole than a hero
she was his warden, she must be very powerfull on her own to be the warden of a single prisoner and to hunt him down basically with her own squad. also, she had her army and Illidan was at that point pretty much alone in outland. he was starting to recruit and negotiate with the local draenei, but he didnt quite had his own faction yet, she probably ambushed him while he was wandering by himself in Outland planning what to do next.
he wanted vengeance first and foremost. he was probably gonna task Illidan with preparing a new invasion for him after he was done thought, however we can assume that, after Illidan succeeded and asked Kiljaden to fullfill his part of the bargain, which would be gove Illidan enormous magical power, he was gonna orchestrate to backstab him with the help of his newfound allies, afterall Illidan never let the demons control him, hes just willing to use their power when others arent, making deals with them is just how he tricks them instead of how demons usually trick those dealing with them.

Kael was my favorite character and instead of giving the BE an actual leader with strong lore ties, they wanted a boss. Horrible decision.

I would say a bit of both, but she made no pretense of what would await him, so I would say, she was pretty honest towards him. She said it would be a darker path he would be taking for him and his people if they decided to enter the dark portal and although they had no choice but to flee, it was Kael's decision in the end to pledge himself to Illidan.
ultimately, the naga were still doing nazshara or however you spell her name bidding for the eldricht lovecraftian deity they serve, however she might have sympathized with kael and the blood elves, as she said, they share ancestory, they both hail from an ancient group of night elves, and they both suffer from the magical addiction (which probably predates the sun well, the highborn NE were already debauching themselves with mana sources, and it was this desire for more and more power that let sargeras trick them and open a portal in their kingdom.) she was sincere with him with all she promised and suggested, however she didnt really said that was everything, and obviously didnt tell neither him or Illidan about her true objective and loyalty, she was however willing to follow through with Illidans shenaningans till the end likely because of a somewhat gratitude and respect for him and what he offered their people, including getting rid of the lich king which is a big enemy to everyone.

how on earth was Maiev able to capture Illidan, tho??
she was his warden, she must be very powerfull on her own to be the warden of a single prisoner and to hunt him down basically with her own squad. also, she had her army and Illidan was at that point pretty much alone in outland. he was starting to recruit and negotiate with the local draenei, but he didnt quite had his own faction yet, she probably ambushed him while he was wandering by himself in Outland planning what to do next.

he wanted vengeance first and foremost. he was probably gonna task Illidan with preparing a new invasion for him after he was done thought, however we can assume that, after Illidan succeeded and asked Kiljaden to fullfill his part of the bargain, which would be gove Illidan enormous magical power, he was gonna orchestrate to backstab him with the help of his newfound allies, afterall Illidan never let the demons control him, hes just willing to use their power when others arent, making deals with them is just how he tricks them instead of how demons usually trick those dealing with them.
