I was an atheist a year ago at the end of my rope. A man told me to open up the Holy Bible and give it a shot. The power of God came over me with undeniable power. Then I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit there's no logic or words that can explain the supernatural power behind the Bible. To all the intellectual people there's more than meets the eye. If you walk by sight you walk this Earth as a blind man if you walk by faith you are truly walking by sight. God bless brothers and sisters read the Holy Bible it will truly change your life for the better and those around you.

It's unfathomable that this violent book filled with incest, rape and torture will be prescribed to be read to children worldwide, religion is a mental illness and this fake ass psychologist are riding the billions of unthinking masses for all its worth. It's unfathomable that this violent book filled with incest, rape and torture will be prescribed to be read to children worldwide, religion is a mental illness and this fake ass psychologist are riding the billions of unthinking masses for all its worth. My model for growth has been in my youth I practiced (still do) jiu jitsu and Judo which changed from a few classes, where nothing made sense and I'd occasionally see players lose fights, into a lifestyle where I have faith thru the walk, the life lessons, and social benefits like confidence and not just the experience and story of the free month of trial classes; Kierkegaard explains this in Fear and Trembling as Abraham's faith developing through his walk not like ours over the course of a few paragraphs. As a group of catholic christians we met every week over 20 years to read a short chapter of the bible, begging the Holy Spirit to guide us. Its called bible sharing. Now I can say: the bible is understandable for every person, if simple or highly intellectual. The different minds find all they need. Every person of our group got another important word for him/herself by reading the same text. That teaches us, that the words and texts of the bible are so profund and filled with eternal wisdom, that I believe, only doing it by myself ,never would have so much knowledge. At the end of the sharing, every aspects the group had received, became so rewarding for us over the time.

I'm booking a flight and ticket to see him in Utah next month. The world is so filled with evil, that I worry they will stop Dr. Peterson from delivering his messages. God bless and keep him. A true soldier.

The cringe-worthy pontifications and ludicrous positions posited by Jordan B. Peterson: Women wearing makeup invite sexual harassment. Rules concerning men arguing with men verses men arguing with “crazy women” are unfair because men can't hit women. An essay in which he stated hating Muslim people wasn't a bad thing because all Muslims are violent extremists. His lie that .every country with a Muslim government gives the death penalty for blasphemy. His completely ridiculous statement that ancient people knew all about DNA and that the medical symbol of the intertwined snakes is proof of that. Corporal punishment should be used to discipline
children, even two year olds (Rule 5,) His twitter comment in which he presented himself as an authority on objective standards of beauty for women (and then quit twitter because someone had the gall to call him on
it.) His dishonesty and waffling about when he was asked if he believed in Christ/was a Christian. His hypocrisy concerning his own 12 Rules. When life gets hard, take Benzos. His very uneducated stance on climate change. (How arrogant. That's not his area of expertise.) His statement that there are no reliable chemical means to stop smoking he says, and then immediately brings up the use of magic mushrooms. His deliberate misrepresentation of Bill C-16. He out and out lied about the content/purpose of that bill just to get another 15 minutes of fame. What a despicable man. His arrogance at retranslating the meaning of various Bible stories as though he has a direct line to God--or as though he is God. Next thing he'll do is write a third testament. Wonder what he'll call it. Not a complete list by any means. Sorry I just can't respect the arrogance of someone who presents himself as an expert in disciplines for which he has no scholarship-climatology, theology, nutrition, pharmacology...

They are such wonderful examples of how we should show love in the world. Such wonderful examples of god's love for all mankind. I especially like god's promotion of slavery in the both the New and Old Testament and his obvious preference for one race of people over another. And the genocide. What is wrong with racism when god himself seemed to promote it. Another example of how he showed his love is in the verses that describe how he sent the two bears to maul the children who made fun of a bald man. What a wonderfully just and reasoned god. I started with the Gospels last December and after i finished that i decided to read the bible from the very beginning. Reading the Gospel gave me goosebumps because it's so real, every word written in red. What really got me was not just Jesus's miracles but bringing Lazareth back to life after everyone knew him to be "asleep" for four days. Then, I came to the last supper and afterwards when Jesus was praying to our Father before he was betrayed by Judas. When Jesus asked God to let this cup of wrath to pass from him but not of his will but our Father's will be done. Things really started clicking. I was prescribed fentanyl for back pain and surgeries that I've had since 2017 and i just didn't want it anymore. Because of the grace, love and mercy of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ this journey is almost over. If I'm not willing to pick up my cross like he did how can I be a follower of Jesus Christ?
Dear Father, I am not worthy to be called one of your children. You and I know that I'm weak and feeble minded. With you I have nearly conquered my demons and there will be more. I rely on n you and only you to carry me until it's over and then I can put myself to your service to help bring people back from our sinful ways. I pray that you keep the holy spirit with me and everyone else that believes in you. Lord, my will makes no sense, your will is the only will I want to do. I pray for every soul to hear with their ears the word and see how it affects their lives. Please bless my hands so that people will know who and what I am by my works. In Jesus's name I pray, Amen!

God will forgive all your sins, if you pray to the Lord: confess your sins and believe that Jesus Christ, the risen Son of God, has died for all your sins on the cross, and trust in Him alone for your salvation.
As your have read, Christ said „It is finished“ meaning you cannot add anything to this salvation. All you need to do is accept it and believe it.
If you have become a christian, read the letters of Paul first. They are „our doctrine“ for this age.
The Bible will test you. Read on.
I recommend you order a Ruckman Reference Bible.
All the best, may the grace of God and the Lord Jesus be with you!

I am currently 66. I have Aspergers. Labeled as "mentally retarded" at age 7.
I was totally incapable of performing academically. I just could not figure out what was going on in the classroom.
Age 9, I tested below 1st grade level in reading, but between my 5th and 6th grade years, I began to read, My father took me to the local library ever week of the summer between 5th and 6th grades and we checked out 33 books that summer and I read every one of them.
After high school, I finally found a career making eyeglasses. I stayed with it for over 30 years.
I say all of this because I am not educated at all, except self, educated to some degree.
I was raised in the Baptist denomination and loved the Scriptures. I memorized them, I read them, and I longed to understand them. I prayed for wisdom concerning them my entire life. In my late 4o's, someone said something that triggered a response to the Word that I had never had before. They also mentioned a book which I ordered and as I read, I was shocked, though I had seen these thoughts in Scripture. I had thought I must wrong in my understanding because I had never heard anyone preach or teach on the matter.
After reading the book, I was so shaken, I ran to Genesis and was determined not to stop until I could prove this thought wrong. What I discovered, what that it was correct. That the church had lied to us for many long years.
I fell to my knees and begged Yehovah to give me more wisdom and understanding.
These 17 years later, I have studied the Scriptures without commentary. I use eSword and have looked more Hebrew, Caldee
and Greek words than I ever thought possible. I still look up words all the time.
Do many agree with what I see? No, but as I began in the beginning until now, I see one thing.
Yehovah chose a people, He made covenants, prophecies and promises to these people, and He is not a covenant breaker.
    Matthew 15:24

What a delight to hear the intellectual, rational approach to an understanding of the Bible presented by Dr Peterson! Though I came to an understanding of the Bible through an experimental faith along with multiple readings over many years we are ending up with the same understanding on Biblical topics I have heard you discuss. But the greatest joy it gives me is seeing Dr Peterson's approach challenging, reaching out to intellectuals who would not otherwise be able to relate to contemporary Christian communicators, and successfully connecting with them. Thank you so much, Dr Peterson! Your voice is refreshing, stimulating, challenging and convicting for those inside and outside the church. And thank you for being courageous enough to speak the truth in the face of what must be painful opposition at times and holding your ground on so many controversial issues that challenge the thoughts and beliefs of so many for the purpose of relieving confusion, lifting burdens and bringing hope to those trying to survive and find meaning in the chaos of this modern day life. Truly, your own personal pain has birthed in you a passion for the pursuit of truth and a compassion that embraces humanity. I'm sure your way of loving and caring for people is bringing joy to the heart of God. May you be now and eternally comforted by His great love!

You don't ever have to stop reading it. I've been reading and re-reading it my whole life (since a young child). It is great to first just read it, then dive into Hebrew traditions and Greek culture. Dive into the original languages, and a whole new meaning often emerges. Dissecting small passages and studying them. Real Bible study is so fascinating. Maybe you could even start a Bible study with other inquisitive minds. Often times, churches don't dive into the depths of language and history of Bible times, but running your own study could be all the things you want. Best to you on your journey, because it really never ends.

I grew up in a church. Presbyterian which was across the street from my grandmothers house. My mother was a Sunday school teacher for a few years so going 3x a week was a minimum.
I have not gone to church after my grandmother passed away. But in recent years I have been talking to God after having a decade of struggle.
I believe God listens and answers in ways we may not understand but we must also take personal responsibility and put forth the effort.

I think I have made progress on it, but I have so much to learn yet. (The more I learn, the more I realize how much more I need to learn, etc.) And then JP comes along, and it seems that whatever he says is ten thousand times better than most of what I have come up with. I only say "most" because I haven't heard or read everything from him yet. He is a singular gift to humanity.

Its good to question yourself about what you are.. That means you have curiosity and opened mind.. Unfortunately most of humans are living materialistic life to chase love inside their hearts but they will not find it.. You can see perfection in every part just be aware and enjoy the litle things.. Make your family proud of you and enjoy your precious life..
I have few basic rules i use everyday treat people like i would like to be treated, be always positive no matter how hard is my situation, and take care of under species.
I have 2 litle kids and now after a while they don't kill a small animal.. Just an example my boy use to kill ants and i said to him why you kill them? They just want to live like us, we as superior species we need protect them not destroy them..
Unfortunately if you take this road most of time you will walk alone.. But with your heart filled of true love and joy.
      Peace

Don't know about you, but I get my sense of morality from the Bible. Especially the OT ---and the horrendous atrocities god permitted/ordered. Yes, this narrative is actually in the bible. (Isaiah 13:9-16 NIV) “See, the day of the Lord is coming - a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger. . . . I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty. . . . Their infants will be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses will be looted and their wives violated." . What a wonderfully just and reasoned god. Well I could just go on and on proving to you his wisdom and love. Jesus said in the NT he did not come to change one iota of his father's words. JORDEN, HAVE YOU READ THE BIBLE???? WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE OT AS A BASIS FOR MORALITY

I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, When I was being formed in secret, And intricately and skillfully formed [as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth. Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written The days that were appointed for me, When as yet there was not one of them [even taking shape]. How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You. O that You would kill the wicked, O God; Go away from me, therefore, men of bloodshed.

I was saved as a child. I know that in my heart. I went astray in my walk because of people who pretended to be my friends. God still showed me that my prayers weren't unanswered. That somehow he still loved me. Despite my bitterness. Despite my anger. Despite my mockery. He somehow understands that it isn't directed at him. I was never any of these things towards him but he seems to still be teaching me, reassuring me, comforting me as a parent would their own child. The moral is never give up on God or the ancient wisdom written in the Bible because neither of those will ever quit on you the same as you might think.

@Lisa Swetz When you talk about Jesus, many people think it is just "another one" talking about being "saved".
He talks about the Bible because almost everybody has access to one.
And in this Bible, people will meet Jesus and they will hear about him in a context that makes them think for themself, instead of being told what Jesus was and said, people read and experience for themself.
      That is why, I think.
